possible useful information seems complete, you may not need all steps like the legalization by your embassy but it could be needed

I used Star Visa for translations and certification (they do the leg work to the Government Office) for my necessary marriage documents and for my wife's US Visa documents.  No hassle.  However, the above link has some good information and I have saved it for future reference.

Armed with that GPS heads up, I prepared the TM47 for the Prom 90 day report, and recorded the coord on the back for my use so  if I was asked for it I would then write it on the front. The falang at the door checked my TM47, said I needed to write my house coord on the form and I told him it was on the back side.  He gave me a que no. and I walked in.  No other visitors were there.  The intern behind the 90 day desk took my passport and TM47, never looking at the back of the form nor asking me to write the coord on the TM47.  She processed my report and returned my passport with the new 90 day slip.....out the door....

I was there just a few hours ago. One of the two IO's sitting just outside the entrance and checking my passport and form, asked for my GPS Coordinates and pointed to a sign on the wall.  I don't know why, but I blurted out I don't have them (I did).  She said I could find them on my phone. But, before I could get my phone out of my pocket the second I0 had looked them up on her phone and wrote it on top of my form.  Perhaps because there was no waiting.  In and out in a few minutes.  Also they told me online reporting should be fixed in two days, and I was also told I could get a residence certificate there at Promenada. He asked if I needed it quickly because it involved a procedure and would take about 2 weeks.  "Do you want to do it now"?  I said no thanks, I was just checking today.  No problem.

So the speed limit increase only applies to this highway ?

It will difficult to find other areas it applies to. As stated in a number of sources, the law reads "The 120 km/h is where a highway has two lanes in the same direction with a specific central island, a median barrier and without u-turns. "

  4. I use my foreign currency account to for my extension money.  I accidentally let it drop below the 800,000 baht by only a small amount and it was replenished within days. Immigration wasn't buying it. They said no at first.  Fortunately I had money in another savings account that more than made up the difference and all was well.  All your funds do not have to be kept in one account as long as you have a total that meets the requirements.

They are told to hire a U.S. lawyer and that lawyer charges them a high rate.  They run into issues with not having an ITIN.  Having to file U.S. tax returns, etc.

I think the Thai banks are set up to do this better for Thai people.

If the partner has lived and especially worked overseas in the same country as their foreign partner, then it's a different matter, but nothing beats being able to go to the local SBC or Bangkok Bank branch where the investment fund was established and talking with the people there for the Thai partner.

This is the only post I have seen that really mentions an ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number). I am not as knowledgeable as many posting here, but if you plan receipt of any U.S. funds for your spouse or other, if they qualify, get them an ITIN as soon as you can.  It is not that difficult. Just follow the instructions on the IRS website.  It would be difficult for them to follow all the steps if you were gone.  My wife is a beneficiary on a U.S. Mutual Fund and will need the ITIN when the time comes.  Also, I am able to file U.S. taxes as Married filing jointly with her ITIN which made a big difference in tax owed.

They all have that, as they all use the same internal parts.

Only the badge and the plastic exterior is different.

Sorry, I have to disagree with you. I have not looked at all the monitors on the market as apparently you have, but i do know they are not all the same.  Looking only at Omron there are different features on different models.  Whether one needs them or not is up to the user.  Personally, anytime i am dealing with my health, I am more concerned with quality than cost. Anyway, my main point is whatever brand you choose, being battery operated is a nice convenience to have. Edit: The more I think about it, perhaps it was the wall plug capability that was optional and the battery is standard.  Anyway, I am pleased with mine and I have never used the cord, I wish the OP well.

  7. I have an Omron, model 7121.  It operates off electrical outlet or 4 Double A batteries.   It also has a warning if it detects irregular heat beats.  I know it was more pricy than some. I honestly don't remember what i paid.  HOWEVER, I highly recommend the battery powered units as they last a looong time  and it is much more convenient to use anywhere.  I have never used the wall plug.

What does health insurance have to do with the visa type, am I missing something?

Was never an insurance requirement when I was doing the marriage visa and currently I have no requirement doing the retirement visa.

I don't know how you have missed this topic over the past year or more.  If you have an OA VISA you are now required to have an Immigration approved Health Insurance Policy that is on a list and database to extend your Visa.  If you have an O Visa it is not required.  Not only is the insurance expensive, but one may not be eligible depending on age or pre-existing conditions. One can only change their OA to an O by leaving the country reapply.   You may have an OA with Retirement extension or an O with Retirement extension.   Don't ask me for further explanation as there are pages and pages of posts on this. NOW in answer to my post, I have been on an OA Retirement since 2002.  FOR SOME UNKNOWN LOGIC the insurance is not required with an O or OA Marriage extension.  Thus my change.  Got it?? ???? Edit:  BTW, I do, and have had, health insurance for years here.  But it is not one that is on their approved list. Not worth the cost to change it.

  9. 20 minutes ago, dingdongrb said:

That must have changed over the past 4 years or so. I did the marriage visa for perhaps 8 yrs and never had a single home visit even though I provided the required hand drawn map every year.

I changed to Retirement visa about 4 years ago because it is much easier. Also get the stamp that same day rather than having to go back in after Bangkok approves it.

I am guessing the OP has elected to change to the marriage visa due to money in the bank requirement.

I don't know about the OP, but myself and others changed due to the health insurance requirement.

We had the address in the green book changed on the next tax renewal after moving. Did it through an agent, one of the many that provide a one stop, test/tax/insurance service.

We still haven't done our drivers licences though.

I use the agent for my tax and inspections, however when they ask "is this your correct address" I always say yes, even though it isn't.  In your experience, was the green book in a non-Thai name? If so, did they require any further paperwork such as residence certificate?

... ???, seriously? ... hahahaha, ha ... how old are these inbreds? 8?

Yes, that's the root cause, their fathers are most likely also their uncles ... bad form these days ...!

I most certainly don't support this, but just for clarity; the name is not from the comics or movie as you may think.  Michigan, my home state, "It has been generally accepted that Michigan was nicknamed "The Wolverine State" for the abundance of wolverines that once roamed the peninsula. ... It's said that Ohioans, at that time, referred to Michiganians as "...as vicious and bloodthirsty as wolverines."

Completely understand. I'm in the same boat, OA visa and retirement extension -- but my marriage certificate is US, and I needed the embassy/consulate to notarize it to proceed to the Kor Ror 22 stage needed for a marriage extension. Nope. Embassy closed to notarizations due to covid. Fortunately, info on this forum showed that LMG insurance would issue me a policy, even by being age 75, for 11,400bt. SOLD!. Well worth the cost, when I think, had I been one year older, I couldn't have gotten the insurance, plus, not being able to dot all the i's for getting a Kor Ror 22, plus borders closed, blah blah. Anyway, I'm good to go for another year, as you are. All's well that ends well. Now, just stay tuned for whatever BS they can throw our way in the next 12 months. Good luck to us both.

I will look into your insurance company.  My quote was 110,000+ baht per year.  Thanks.

Out of curiosity, why did you switch it marriage extension?

Because I have an OA Visa which would now require the purchase of a new and very expensive health insurance policy for the Retirement extension renewal.  I have health insurance, but it doesn't meet their criteria.  I can't go out of the country and change to an Non Imm O, and probably wouldn't even if I could as it was easier to just jump through the hoops and change to Marriage extension which doesn't require the health insurance.  The Imm officer asked me the same question, and nodded in agreement when I gave her this reason.

It won't be produced in Australia as Ford have no manufacturing there, I don't think they build the Ranger in India either.

I didn't say it was.  I said it would be a market wide release in those countries. Perhaps i wasn't clear.  A quote from the link I included........"CarAdvice understands the 2022 Ford Ranger is due to be unveiled in the first half of next year, by which time there will be a clearer picture of its local showroom arrival date. For now, the window is still wide open – late 2021 or early 2022 – because there are four Ford Ranger factories around the world (Thailand, South Africa, Argentina and the US) that need to ramp up production of the new model."

  15. The topic of Marriage Visa procedures are quite detailed in preceding posts.  There are a couple experiences I thought I would add:
!:  In the 18 years of doing my retirement extension, one copy of all documents was required.  When we showed up to change to the marriage extension with all the documents, they said they needed two copies.  So another copy of the 24 pieces of paper we had were quickly made by my wife at the Imm copy shop. Signed again in blue.  Another 48 copies added to some warehouse with my other 18 years of copies.
2: The volunteers outside who checked all were very polite and friendly.  However, one guy insisted I needed a 1 year bank statement which I didn't have.  As I was using the money in the bank method, I told him it wasn't necessary.  He was adamant it was, but he would let me try anyway.  It wasn't needed. A slight scare when IO handed my bank letter to my wife and said "Not enough money in the bank". We all had a laugh when the IO realized the amount was $USD not baht.
3: All went smoothly and went home to await our "home visit" which would take place "within 10 days".  A Thai person would be necessary as a witness that we lived there, even though we own the house and they had TWO copies of all the papers.  The manager of our Moo Baan agreed to do this.
Tipped off by a post on this forum, it was possible Imm would ask us to bring a witness to the Imm Office instead of the home visit.  We live in Doi Saket, and as a matter of principal I was not going to drag a witness to Imm, or make another trip ourselves. If we have to follow every one of their rules, than so do they.  A home visit is required.
Sure enough the wife received the phone call "Could you come to the office with your witness?"  Surprisingly, the wife stood her ground and said no.  "OK, I will call you back, maybe tomorrow".  No call the next day so the wife called him.  Imm said "We are very busy are you sure you can't come here?"  Yes, we're sure.
The next day two male Imm officers arrived, in a plain car, not a BMW. They brought into the house a laptop and a full size printer.  They asked many questions of our witness and all her personal info.  They printed forms for her to sign and took photos while she did so.  Also photos of us together with her.  I had no idea this would be that intrusive on her time and I later apologized.  We signed more forms for who knows what.
All in all, they were friendly, took many photos and we had some good conversations about many topics and my retirement from law enforcement. They even took photos of my old photos from that period. Oh, they did ask for the infamous photo of us in the bedroom.  I think they were embarrassed when the wife asked "Do you want us IN the bed?".
I have no complaints of any of the officers we dealt with, which is my usual experience.  It is just too bad they are shackled to such redundant and unnecessary procedures.

    Thanks for this info.

Are you talking about a new line of Rangers, or about a completely different model with a new name?

And is this new model going to be produced by Ford Thailand? Otherwise that could delay its release on the local market for quite a while...

It will be the latest update to the current Ford Ranger range.  It will be a market wide release once production begins. It doesn't matter where it is produced. This includes Thailand, Australia, India, U.S.A and others. There is usually variances between some items and power trains available depending on country.   Here is one source, there other quite a few others.

Nice discount, I did better than that with Ford.

The Rangers are doing OK it would seem given they are at the end of model life and a whole new truck coming next year.

FWIW the 2.0 Panther Engine has been around since 2016.

I think the above is important.  I currently drive a Toyota, 4x4, 4 door, 3 litre, that has been great for the 17 years I have owned it here. But, I come from a Ford family and I have had Ford's all my life. The "this is better than that" argument has gone on as long as there were more than one brand.  The next generation Ranger is in the auto news on a weekly, if not daily, basis.  I will purchase one as soon as it is available.  Why buy a model at the end of its run, unless a discount is important, when totally a new replacement is due.  First reports said late 2020, but now it has pushed back to 2021.   Do some searching, there is a lot of info out there.

  18. "All long term foreigners residing in Thailand who renew will have their papers dated from September 27th.

Naew Na said in their headline that those who have not done so should hurry up and extend.

    Source: Naew Na"

I have been on an OA Retirement Visa and extensions for 18 years. It always gave me permission to stay from Oct 2 until Oct 1.  I changed it to a Marriage Visa/extension last week and was surprised to see it was approved from Sept 27, 2020 until Sept 26, 2021.  I wondered why, and didn't really think about it much, until I read the above photo caption. Not a big deal, just curious.
