  1. I have looked around on this site and haven’t seen anything lately on LTR, specifically WP regarding taxes. I have had two Expat Tax companies tell me I need to have the Tax ID and file basically a blank tax return with the LTR Visa attached. Can some of you please chime in on whether or not you are going to get a Thai Tax ID or not? Any other specifics would be appreciated. Thank you, TB
  2. I renewed my health insurance about 4 months early to meet the 10 month criteria using both policies. I recently was at BOI to change my passport and asked about the 10 month requirement for every year. The representative stated that it would be best to do the early renewal every year. She wasn’t sure if it would be looked at when the 5 year renewal came up. I renewed early again this year and will continue to do the same every year. The insurance company came back in one day with the renewal rate, apparently very happy to take my money about 3 months early.
  3. Thanks, I sort of thought so but I appreciate the confirmation.
  4. I have used the drop down menu in the past but I can’t seem to find it on their website. Not sure if it’s no longer available or I just can’t find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks TB
  5. I sent the form back the next day after receiving it in the mail using the tracking method of 355 baht. It was delivered as shown below. Note that on the same day as receiving the SSA form 7162 I also received my tax refund that was mailed on May 24 and a letter from the IRS that they were mailing my return in lieu of direct deposit. This letter was dated prior to May 24. So it appears somewhere the mail is being held before delivery. 27/07/2567 18:35International (United States)Final delivery (J D) 27/07/2567 16:58International (United States)Arrival at post office 17/07/2567 12:58International (United States)Perform customs clearance 16/07/2567 12:58International (United States)Arrival at inward office of exchange 16/07/2567 12:37Air carrierThe receptacles delivered to the destination post 16/07/2567 11:09Air carrierThe transport departed from transit airport 13/07/2567 11:40SUVARNABHUMIDeparture From Outward OE 13/07/2567 09:45SUVARNABHUMIArrival at outward office of exchange 12/07/2567 14:59LAK SIIn transit 12/07/2567 10:20SI RACHAIn transit 11/07/2567 20:24SI RACHAItem into sorting center 11/07/2567 18:33PattayaIn transit 11/07/2567 12:29PattayaPosting/Collection
  6. Solar is now installed so we went to the PEA today, no problem at all getting a TOU meter, not sure why my wife was given the run around the first time. The person she dealt with wasn’t around today so maybe that was the problem.
  7. I have used usa2me for 15 years, never a problem.
  8. Just a follow up to changing my DD from Bangkok Bank to a U.S. Credit Assn. I submitted the change to Manila, two weeks later they responded that my bank info has been changed. A day or so later MySSA showed the new bank account as requested (shows only last few digits but enough to verify). So bottom line is to change back to the US it’s best to go through Manila.
  9. This is probably dead on, thanks for the comment.
  10. I was given a permission to stay stamp for a little less than 2 years due to my passport expiring. I also received the 10 year stamp. The BOI said when I switch my passport I will then get the remaining time for a total of 5 years, then of course once renewed another 5 years. Maybe this is what people are referring to.
  11. Do you need Solar or EV charging to get a TOU meter? The reason I am asking is my wife went to PEA and that is what she was told, not sure we are getting the correct answer. I am thinking of installing Solar but would like to change the meter as soon as possible and not wait for the PEA inspection of the solar system.
  12. After submitting pension verification letter they asked for 2022 and 2023 tax returns. I sent a letter explaining my 2023 wasn’t ready and only had 2022. They accepted the 2022 as proof.
  13. I actually called SSA 3 times last night….all to a rep not an automated system. I agree that I need to go through Manila. Thanks for the help. I may get stuck with Bangkok Bank.
  14. Sorry forgot to mention that my bank book codes the deposits as BAHTNET.
