Forget mining, you’ll require a lot more knowledge to jump into it.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm happy to learn, and have a fair knowledge of IT systems - mining is attractive as the electricity rates here are so low and doesn't require so much upfront investment when considering the price of bitcoins right now!

Definitely not looking for off the shelf, hoping to dive in myself!

  2. So I've been looking at getting started in digital currencies as they seem to be taking off. I've done a lot of reading but I still wouldn't consider myself anywhere near enough informed to begin.

So my question is, how do you get started? I think Bitcoin is pretty much impossible to mine, but what other currency options are there? Do people still mine themselves, invest in a lot of equipment, hire cloud mining services, or do people purchase and sell?

Any suggested reading would be great too. Thanks or your replies!

The 3BB box will not allow many apps from Google Play to be installed, and the movies included are rubbish (for me anyway). On a 'normal' Android box you can install anything available.

Much rather have a VPN on my PC/laptop/NUC and watch almost anything, and movies from P Bay.

You can install anything you want on the True box. True has a large-ish movie library you can rent them for free using true points (you get these points for free everytime you pay your bill / use the true wallet app to buy things.) or credit card. When I go shopping in 7/11, central etc, I pay for everything using the true wallet and get a sh-t ton of points every month. Free movies and channels ???? You can also use those true points to buy extra minutes / messages / data on your phone. It's great!

Oh... and you can get discounts and free stuff from shops / fast food / true pretty much everywhere using those points too. One time, I got a free big mac meal!

Hope it's better programs than the 3BB GigaTV box.

I don't know about that, I've never used that one. My fiance uses the True box in the living room for TV but she mainly watches typical Thai programming.

I use another true box in my man cave/office, but I use apps and Netflix instead of watching TV. Bonus is that you get free true sports packages for premier league football if you're a footie fan. Lasts a whole year!

  5. Does anyone have a good agent to do this for them?

I've been quoted 7,000 - 9,500 for this perfectly legitimate extension and can't quite believe it's that expensive. They aren't hard to do and they don't require the IO to be bribed. I don't want to lose any time sitting in the office and going back twice, and I can't go to the local Ubon IO after complaining about their 3,900 cost last time. Ironic now that I have to pay even more for an agent.

Hopefully someone can help with the name of a reasonably priced agent. Thanks!

I just got back from Rayong, stayed at a nice resort which was discounted.  OK place, pictures were slightly deceiving but restaurant prices were outrageous.  Cheapest Thai food was green curry at 280B.  Since we just arrived, we had the one meal there and went 5 minutes down the road and ate reasonably.  So sad, they think they are smart by raising the prices but Thais are going to eat there and neither will I again.

Probably part of the whole 'let's embezzle together' program. They'll have taken 560 Baht for that green curry.

  7. Did I smoke too much last night and somehow wake up in Communist China? Why on earth would most Thais care about Chinese New year? They already celebrate 31st Dec & Songkran, why not add a third? Why Prayut keeps giving holidays is beyond my understanding.

Regular folk (non-goverment employees) don't get public holidays anyway, only government workers. Teachers and students have enough holidays already that they're hardly in school at all. And Thailand wonders why it's slipping further and further down the education tables.

The second one that likes Advice . But their website doesn't open on my 3 browsers, my bad .

I can't if there is one near me.

I can't stand Advice. They have terrible service. I once bought an SSD drive, asked them to install it and move the operating system over to the SSD. They ended up installing a fake windows copy with a bunch of other pirated apps I didn't want activated with KMS activator. Bunch of virus alerts as soon as I opened my computer.

The premium support is direct from Dell though, and it will be a Dell chap who comes to your home. Advice is a good place to buy a new computer, and they have a good range of Dell products - but never go there for anything else.

We seem to be rolling out these jabs and planning for the future without actually planning for the future !

That's just the way governing has been under Boris. A ship without a rudder, reacting to the waves. Just another useless comment from the government which will probably end up with a U-turn announcement any day soon. Captain Bojo the Yoyo.

Interesting to see that the UK is talking about annual boosters, whilst the US is talking about achieving herd immunity by summers end. A British cup is always half empty, whilst an American cup runneth over?

I need to buy a new computer and my local JIB store seems the best.
There they say only Lenovo and HP give 2 year on site warranty, this means
a tech of that company comes to the JIB store to repair it within the week.
Is this true , and really only those two ? I want to verify that this is so , but on

their (bad) website there is no email to contact headoffice.

Dell comes to your house next day to repair back in europe , not here ?
Weird that you can't order on Dell's thailand site , and no prices on there too.
I don't want to buy a computer that JIB or me has to send to Bangkok to repair

and that I lose for 3 weeks or more , and potentially comes back , not well repaired and/or damaged .

I have Dell premium support and I bought my laptop in Ubon at the blue and white shop - Advice. They provide 24 hour on-site (come to your home ) support

If your store doesn't have it, you can order it online. I couldn't find lasagne sheets, but Makro has it.

Edit; I just asked my better half and she said the tops market in Ubon (Central Plaza) has all three of these things.
