I will not be finished with my contract, I would like to quit and just travel and chill. When you say the old out and in visa, do you mean leaving the country for a visa run? As this isn't really possible now with covid restrictions. When you say both, do you mean the school and myself?  I imagine the school would cancel the visa, so where would that leave me? I do not want to overstay and have trouble entering in the future and am not really trying to get a new job teaching.

In and out 6 months later when the non-b extension ran out. That might be possible for you six months later from now - the country is planning to re-open on the 1st Oct (TIT).

The school can not simply cancel your extension - Immigration need to physically have your passport to do it. You can cancel an extension, because it is your extension. The school can't do it themselves unless you gave them your passport and a signed power of attorney. You would be free to travel and chill for the next six months and then leave the country. The covid extension will only give you 2 months - and they are NOT being renewed this time around.

However, if you plan to stay here and teach in another school, then you need to do things correctly. What you plan to do after the next 6 months is up should determine your course of action:

Stay here and teach - cancel extension and apply for covid extension (quickly)

Go home in 6 months - relax.

  2. You're fine. I finished teaching 3 years ago and had 5/6 months left too. Stayed here without any issues and did the old in and out tourist visa when the extension ran out.

Unless you both go to immigration with your passport to cancel the visa, they won't know any different. As Ubonjoe said - you have to go in to the IO and formally cancel the extension.

If you want to teach in another school, or you plan on staying here longer, then I'd recommend cancelling your extension and doing things properly. If not, and your going home anyway in a few months, then just relax and enjoy the next 6 months ????

  3. bumping...

Found some interesting info, looks a little complicated to get started with an enterprise, but it definitely looks like a serious cash crop.

Mrs Ubon was telling me that they'll pay 1,500 baht per kilo of cannabis leaf, and there's also money for seeds and stalks too. Add that onto the 30-45k per kilo of flower, and you've got a pretty viable business - indoor all year round grow.

So who is checking what the families do with the 'illegal' part of this cash crop? Not selling the flowers is akin to growing apple trees but not selling the apples. You are not selling the part of your crop that gets the highest price.

Growing medical MJ is not the same as growing weed to get high. The Government are specifically growing weed strains with a high CBD content (12% and above) to use for oil products.

This means the THC content (the stuff that gets you high) is usually miniscule, and can be as low as 0.5-1.5%. Of course you could smoke it, but it wouldn't get you high. These strains are grown specifically to help people manage chronic pain, anxiety, eating disorders and cancer patients.

They are selling the flowers (buds)... to the Government.

If you play by the rules give it a try.????

Definitely play by the rules... just thinking it could come in handy as i've grown before in the UK, and am quite capable of growing some monster trees with fimming and topping techniques. 6 plants every few months would net a decent 200K+with an avr 700g- 1kg yield per plant.  How do you buy from the gov?

You have to buy from the government and sell back to the government. And no blueberry muffin. ???? My wife has 5 greenhouses and she is doing quite well with other projects. We have visited others that did get involve and she told me they can stick it where the moon does not shine.????

Would you recommend doing it, or is it too much of a headache?

  7. So the gov just announced that all households can grow up to 6 weed plants for sale to the gov/hospital. Apparently family members can form a social enterprise and team up for larger yields. They pay 45,000 Baht per kilo if it has a CBD content of 12% +, so the money is pretty good for growing a plant that will only take 3/4 months to grow.

    Questions:

Mrs Ubon has a large family, but we are looking at just starting out with 6 plants. Do we need to register or anything with 6 plants, or is registration only required for social / community enterprises?

I've tried looking at the Thai FDA site, but there isn't a lot of information just yet. Where can I get more info?

Am I able to legally order high CBD seeds from Europe/America (these seeds typically have little THC bt high CDB properties)

    Thank you kindly!
