  1. Pretty sure he was drunk and over speeding.

Not to mention that those cars are not meant to be driven at 140-150kph. You do that, you are at risk that in case of an emergency the brakes won’t keep up. These cheap Japanese cars obviously don’t have breaks capable of that speed, as they are not meant for it to begin with…

Braking saves 99.999% of accidents, and so if you are gonna speed even at 140 make sure that you have a car with proper brakes always…

true only for the outdated software with suboptimal algorithms, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. I am mining "another" cryptocurrency on 6 watt Intel Atom CPU, and there are many better alternatives. DYOR, YMMV

Sure, it has some relation to the suboptimal algorithms such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, not denying the fact. But it mostly depends on mining difficult, and you know that for Bitcoin, mining difficulty is adjusted every 2016 blocks. Now of course, Bitcoin being the most popular one, a lot of people has mined/mines it, and a hell lot of blocks have already been discovered, so it's only obvious the mining difficulty is the highest of them all! Back in the day you could also mine Bitcoin with a Pentium 4 and earn much more money than you would today mining with a Pentium 4.

If you mine some <deleted>coin which has just launched into the market, obviously you can make more money mining with an Intel Atom than you would mining Bitcoin with the same CPU. Sure the algorithm is better, but the keypoint is the mining difficulty is much lower.

  3. Everything is technically crackable.

But in many cases, and I believe it is the case of WinZIP encryption... the only possible attack is a BruteForce attack. Which essentially means trying thousands and thousands of different combinations per second til you find the right password.

As you may guess, if the password you used is '123' it may take 1-2 seconds to crack. However if the password is '2823AnBcE34%@' it may take years light for it to be cracked even with a huge amount of computational power!

So your best protection, is to make a brute force attack impractical, how do you do that? With a strong password.

I wonder how the Thai people feel about the Chinese hordes that come?  Those who don’t work in the tourist industry don’t seem to like them too much.  For those in the industry, they might feel differently.

Well I can talk confidently here, since my wife is Chinese and she is working here for a Chinese real estate company at the moment.

I get the feeling that average Thai people sees Chinese with better eyes than they see us (me). I don’t know if you catch my point, it’s hard to explain. But I many times have that feeling. It’s like they see them as brothers or cousins while they see us as strangers, something like this.

True, but I think you will agree that global and especially Western sentiment toward China and Chinese has change dramatically since the pandemic and China's recently aggressive behavior.

Attitudes toward China are probably negatively set for at least a generation.

The reality is that China can easily support Thailand's tourist market - as long as China continues to get wealthier. But, I really do doubt many non-Chinese will be very interested in visiting Thailand if it's overrun with Chinese tourists.

That is normal, it's human nature. Had it been Switzerland that corona came from, people would suddenly start bashing Switzerland. Has always happened and will always happen.

Key point is regarding Thailand, Chinese tourists have been the number 1 group by far in Thailand for a while. And I don't see how that affects, most of the time there is not even mixing, the Chinese do their stuff, the Westerners also do their own stuff. Don't be greedy, there's enough girls in Thailand for everyone, and if not many have the ladyboys alternative ????

China defeated the Virus, Really.  If so then why are they still locking down residents and not allowing travel...Try again -  Strike 1

To avoid losing control of the epidemic?

Back a few months ago when there were 10-15 confirmed cases in Qingdao a city of 9 million inhabitants, they tested for free the city's entire 9 million inhabitants within 2 weeks, and lockdown the areas (communities) where they found infected people. As a result, the virus never went to any other cities.

Plus, travel is allowed domestically to any place, so long as you don't live in a community where they have found cases, in that case you will be quarantined (inside your house) for 14 ays.

Put up an oil export embargo and  the Myanmar military will   collapse.

Seeing the actions of the Myanmar military against their own people. What do you think they will do against  Chinese people in Myanmar if they start struggling because of embargos taken/allowed by China?

Or any other country for that matter, if the US does something, do you seriously believe they are not gonna murder any American they come across?

Embargos, sanctions don't work. They only make the people in those countries live a miserable life, same as in Cuba, same as in Iran. In an effort to punish the government, embargos condemn the innocent population to live in poverty.

What Myanmar needs is military action, not by one particular country but by the UN itself. To oust the tatmadaw from the government, heavily reform it (to ensure this doesn't happen again), and then let Burmese decide what they want...

... Of course I am just dreaming here, because such a thing would never happen. At the end of the day nobody will do anything useful to stop this, and the tatmadaw will continue their killing spree....

  8. A death cage, this Japanese cars are not made safe. True they are already small and the space is very limited.... but I for sure wouldn't wanna be in any of these cars during an accident.

I guess they have a lot to learn from European car makers....

Nowadays Japanese cars score very well on safety tests because their tech in active safety is pretty amazing. But don't let that fool you, when everything else fails your only hope is passive safety, and Japanese cars passive safety, well.......

Thank you. Maybe they are good but still clearly overpriced in my opinion. It's what they pay for Porsche or Ferrari at some places.

    thanks again.

Actually IIRC from their price table a Porsche or Ferrari would be cheaper than Mercedes E Class (as was my case) since the Porsche or Ferrari are normally smaller cars (two seaters).

Sorry but is the car very old ? why do leather seats look so ugly ?

I guess that a good car detailing would clean them and restore them to almost brand new, if what I see on Youtube is correct.

Car is from late 08. But I do not see anything wrong with the seats, honestly. Specially the rear ones, have not been used at all! They were clean even before the “Leather Care” service…. The front ones were slightly dirty but came out just fine.

    6 minutes ago, ThailandFoodExpert said:

how much did you pay ?

I paid ~3,000 THB for leather care + carpet care + headline care.

And do you think that they know what is a clay bar / paint decontamination ?

Never found any place where the proposed the service.

This I can’t answer, as I am not an expert on car washes and I don’t even know what it means myself. But perhaps @JAS21 can better answer your question since he is also the one that recommended their services to me in the first place!

    All over world too.

Obesity in China is a major health concern according to the WHO, with overall rates of obesity between 5% and 6% for the country, but greater than 20% in some cities where fast food is popular.

Go to any McDonalds or BurgerKing in any Chinese city, and you will at the very least find one extremely morbid obese dude.

Chinese people wouldn't like McDonalds, BurgerKing, KFC as it is in Thailand, or in the US.... Because Chinese people say the bun (as in hamburgers etc) makes it super dry while eating.... Funny thing McDonalds, BurgerKing, KFC,... all adapted their fast food menus to the Chinese market (more chicken, less bread). All those places are crowded all along China...

The police do their job, what they do is how police operate in Thailand, they collect revenue, they don't prevent accidents, have'nt you worked that out yet???

    Sure.

My point is that due to the very particular conditions which meet here in Thailand (overall nice roads designed for speed, gazillions of motos and many cars), there’s not much the police could do anyways.

Accidents are gonna happen anyway. Sure, every death counts. But I personally don’t think that the strictest enforcement of traffic laws would see the stats drop dramatically, at best, moderately.

Other countries which have gazillions of motos (Vietnam) have trashy roads  (can’t speed) and very few cars…

Maybe it was but as his leg was getting more and more swollen they should have had a look at it because the swelling might have occured because of a blood clot (as the story says thats what he died of ) i geuss in your case it was swollen already the same moment and didn't swell more and more .

Yes, it’s true that in my case, when the doctor decided not to operate right away, it was already extremely swollen, later on they gave me daily IV drugs which with every passed day made it less and less swollen til they finally decided it was safe to operate.

It never happened that the swelling increased, so as you said that

might very well have been the case here.

    If police do its job

If police do its job it will improve things slightly, but it will not magically fix it.

We have to start calling things by their name, and stop looking for third parties to blame, the police, the grandma, Prayut….

Put it simple, there are over twenty million registered motorcycles in Thailand and over ten million registered cars in Thailand. You put them in the same roads, you are gonna have a lot of deaths on the motos sides, period. Regardless of whether the BiB does their job or not.

Sure, if the BiB was as strict as in the west it most likely would be slightly down. But how much?

In 2018 there were 4,985 deaths as a result of a motorcycle accident in the USA, there are only 8.3 million registered motos in the USA.

In Thailand in 2018 there were around 18,000 deaths as a result of a motorcycle accident, with over 20 million registered motos.

Many more motos, fewer kms of roads by far than the US, poor traffic laws enforcement, you get 18,000 deaths.

But, enforcement alone can not solve the issue…

  15. Don’t do it, it sucks.

The experience is nowhere near what you get with your physical dual SIM. Trust me, I’ve been there and despised it.

Every year I get the newest iPhone model (need it for work anyway), and no matter where I am I get it from mainland China. The physical dual SIM is amazing, trust me.

Can U find love.... real love?

You can find anything if you look for it in the right place...

Thailand is no different than any other country. Now, mind you, those places which horny sexpats frequent seem to be an exception. So you perhaps might not want to try to find real love there....

    Everywhere else, sure you can.

  17. No worries. A very close friend of mine overstayed in December (Christmas time) around 20 days. Paid the fine, applied covid extension, and was successfully granted. Chon Buri Immigration.

Seriously, not too worry. Pay the fine and all will be OK.

Edit: Have him do it ASAP (Monday, best). The fine is guaranteed and non-negotiable. Tell him not to even think about it. Apologize a million times, and pay the fine, then apply extension.

Caused by the 6 day delay in operating on his broken leg which to my mind should have been done first day but TIT .

Without having much medical knowledge, I believe this is not the approach they follow in Asia.

When I messed up my right hand (4th and 5th metacarpal badly fractured), upon taking an X-Ray it was obvious I would be needing a surgery. Just I wanted it right away, and my doctor back in China said operating on something as swollen as my hand was back then would cause very poor cosmetic results (and increase the risk for complications too), so I waited 6-7 days for the swelling to go down and everything was fine, with very good results.

I guess it may have been a similar case here?

  19. If you are gonna rent in Thailand follow the golden rule:

    * Landlord is old Thai lady/gentlemen who speaks pretty nice English (meaning they probably worked for the government, been overseas) and thus have absolutely no reason to walk away with your deposit.

    * Landlord is old Thai lady/gentlemen who doesn't speak English at all, but they own the fancy expensive apartment which you are about to rent, and thus must also have enough money not to have any reasons to walk away with your deposit.

If it's young people, and not owned by them (as in daddy, bf/gf, whoever paid for it...) AVOID at all costs.

Even 135,000 THB is barely over 3,000 USD, nobody with enough money to purchase that sort of apartment will "steal" that money, even if no legal consequences arise, the loss of face and looking like they are penilessly starving, is enough for anyone with enough money not to do that...
