Rising VAT to 10% Announced by Thai Finance Minister
After the recent price increases, raising VAT would be a stab in the back for everyone. VAT is an unfair tax that affects everyone regardless of their financial status. This will greatly affect the poorest people. However, they are looking at what it brings in, looking at how much it needs to increase to cover the deficit of their incompetent government. Raising taxes seems easier than finding competent politicians...

Thai girl was totally shameless
Is this a joke ? Sorry if I'm being a bit too direct, but things need to be put into context. So, on one hand, we have a farang (foreigner) over 50 years old, convinced he's the idol of his ladies, who's become obsessed with a high-class escort and is playing the shocked guy because she has no desire to go to bury herself in Chiang Mai with a guy she's never met. And on the other hand, a girl who lives by the sea probably earns more than him, with offers coming from all directions from men of all nationalities and all ages, who enjoys life! In any case, I loved the word "unethical" In a country known for sex tourism, it's priceless. An English journalist once wrote: "Would it ever occur to you in your country to marry A farmer turned prostitute? No. Then why are you doing it here?" Keep that in mind. Ah, and here are some info/tips/Common misconceptions : - Here, love doesn't exist. It's a business. And put your heart in a locker to avoid problems. In other words, don't fall in love, they will put you naked in a blink of an eye. - Stop having a to high opinion of yourself, you're going to be very disappointed. You think like a foreigner, Thais don't think like us, don't have the same criterias, and don't really like us. - You'll have to accept that girls aged 20-35 will quickly turn their heads away to avoid meeting your gaze, but on the other hand, you're a candy for women aged 55 and over! - learn quickly how to read the warnings by asking some questions and decoding what is behind questions they asked you. Start with the book "private dancer" - That insta girl, Google her nickname adding "leaks" to see what images and videos you will get in return 😉🤫 Good Luck

Toxic Expats You Should Avoid in Thailand
22. The guy who survives more than he lives, see you are working seriously, beg you to work with you. Then, when you tell him to come : tomorrow morning, is answering: "tomorrow, I can't, I have a birthday party" 🙄 23. The guy who believes he is more Thai than a Thai and because of that, prefer telling bull<deleted> rather than "loosing his face" just saying these very simple words: I don't know 24. The super expert in every domain who should be richer than Elon Musk but who was every time very unlucky. 25. The guyS who make that very common mistake: Confuse kindness with weakness and will systematically try to turn you around. 26. All the idiots who are addicted to online slot machines and who would kill their parents for 300thb, because they are sure they have understood the algorithm and that this time, they will win!

Thais Reject Casino Complex and Online Betting Plans Poll Shows
The worm is already in the fruit! Online casino sites are perfectly accessible from Thailand, and a growing number of people are already completely hooked. If you receive a message from a Thai on your MSN or Line like: “Can you help me out with 300 thb? I'll give it back to you tomorrow, I'll receive a transfer, but I've got nothing to eat”. You then learn that: 1. This person is addicted to slot machines 2. That if you say yes, you won't get your money back (it's rare for a Thai to refund a farang). 3. That your “friendship” with this person is worth 300thb, because once you've given him/her your money, he/she won't talk back. In other words, if you thought you meant something to her/him, bad news: you're actually worth no more than 300thb. I readily admit I was duped, and I naively said “oh but of course, I can even send you 500thb if you want” 🙄 I told this to a friend who filled me in. And unfortunately, since then I've received other requests. At least it allowed me to sort through my knowledge a bit. If you do a little research on the subject, you realize what a scourge it is. The story on the old 100thb bill tells of a time when the Thais were betting on anything and everything, and that's how gambling came to be banned. Asians are notoriously addicted to gambling. What's more, these sites have highly sophisticated algorithms, impossible to verify, capable of analyzing your gambling style and making you win just enough to keep you playing. What's more, no one keeps books of winnings and losses. You may think you're about to break even, but in fact you're always in the red. The lottery (official or clandestine) is terrible too. Because when a person wins, everyone sees it, but no one when he loses... I'm glad these games don't appeal to me at all. I have a Thai friend, married to an apparently very rich Thai, and I've seen her lose 200,000thb a day...all just for the dopamine that winning gives to the brain... They have open Pandora's box.

Causes of High Electricity Bills in Thai Apartments
Agree, I add: Many people do, with air conditioning 0 -> 25° especially Thai women's who don't pay the bill. It's like using a rice cooker or iron. Actually it's worth and bad for the device. The best thing to do is to set it 5° below the outside temperature to avoid too much thermal shock. You should not go below 27. It is best to get your body used to the heat. Also, with the thermostat, no need to shut it down when you go outside for 1 to 4 hours. Personally, I only use a fan and I only use it when it's very hot or humid. Another important point: beware of "gamer" computers that have powerful power supplies between 800 and 1000 watts and stay on nights and days A laptop for comparison is about 350w

Thailand likely detects a new, more dangerous mpox variant
Thanks! I hope that this time the vaccine will be in suppository form, so that we can insert it directly into the right place! 🤕🤒😷⚰️🤔

Today at 7/11.....
oh well and why that? oh yes of course, you are the fanboy who can't stand that anyone can say anything negative about Thailand or its people. Who is still in his golden dream: everyone is beautiful, everyone is nice! It's paradise: no crimes, drugs, rapes etc. And then, it's the land of smiles, how rude could they be!! Come on, take your xanax and go to sleep (make no mistake: pink is xanax, blue is viagra). And yes, non-constructive criticism leads to this type of response. Finally, if you are not able to evaluate the quality of the service or the welcome of a place, avoid making comments, especially if they are insulting, well hidden behind your computer. The specialty of this site, although basically, it is just about sharing points of view and experiences. You may learn one day that there is not 1 Thailand, but 1000+ Thailand and depending on where you live (north, south, east, west), the people you meet, the fact of speaking the language etc. you can have completely opposite experiences.

Today at 7/11.....
No one. I'm talking about rude attitude. About the manager I became friend with, it's just because we were living in the same building at the same floor.

Today at 7/11.....
The super classical troll from this website! The post is interesting because, yes the Thais became more rude, and at the 7/11 it's the worst of the worst! I even had one who closed her cashier as soon as I arrived to pay. I did nothing wrong, just pure racism. I saw the day coming when I was going to throw the entire content of my basket in her face and to avoid any incident, I walked 200 meters more to go to another one. And don't make any mistake, at my previous address, I had made friends with a Manager and they perfectly know the customers, especially those who spend more than the average! Fortunately, this 7/11 has changed ownership and the whole team has changed. Now they're just perfectly unpleasant, like almost all of 7/11. No need to tell me that in your 7, the girls are nice, I met them too, 10+ years ago. The Thais have changed a lot over the last 10 years: the cell phone, the economic recession and the Covid having been there, I don't blame them, it's understandable. On the other hand, whether in my country or here, I have the habit of not giving my money to frankly unsympathetic shops! I studied business, I worked for chain stores as an assistant then manager, and - in my country - it is inconceivable not to answer "hello", not to say "thank you" and "goodbye!" I live in a Thai Thai area, I know perfectly well that people are less rich and more rude, but I educate them with a "Bye-Bye" and a big smile and if at first they laugh, after a while, they do the same. Finally, I avoid chain stores as much as possible. I prefer mini-marts, the covered market and small family restaurants. It's to be preferred, especially since the prices are almost the same. And that has nothing to do with thinking you're someone else. And, if you live in central Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket, with the flux of customers, I understand that they prefer to work faster than to be polite, but 1/ they are none of them and 2/ not everybody live in these places. If you don't understand my point of view, before answering, ask yourself if your not also considered as rude with others.

JD Vance, under Labour, UK may now be the First Islamist Country to get a Nuclear Weapon
What he said is a warning about the situation in GB and in general in Europe. Sweden who was the most peaceful country with the highest standard of living in Europe is on fire since these fluxes of "refugees". I recently saw a report in England with demonstrations by Afghans with known terrorist leaders, who each time provoke the police a little more in order to trigger clashes. Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark etc. are in the same situation. This remark is a way of sounding the alarm.

Putin's Hidden War: The Escalation of Russian Covert Operations in Europe
Have you ever heard about the BRICS? Have you realized that each and every time a country who talked about the need of using a different currency than the USD for international trading and especially petrol, this country received a visit of the US army ? Zelinski and Macron are USA pawns and yes they sacrificed Ukraine to slow down Russia and the BRICS+ in their desire of creating a new currency for international trading, based on gold and not owned by any country. And it's just a matter of time before they succeed. Just have a look on recent big purchases of gold by the USA and the EU central bank to understand they don't believe they will be able to stop them... A question remains, how far the USA are ready to go to save the USD ? WWIII ?

Are You Reading AI-created Fake News?
In reality, I think you are mixing 2 notions: plagiarism and texts generated by AI. Regarding plagiarism, there are indeed tools that allow you to tell whether a text is original or copied. In any case, it is integrated into the Google engine and a plagiarized text will not be referenced or very poorly. Concerning AI, there are detection tools to know if a text was generated by AI or by a human. However, it is entirely possible to circumvent them. AI is a no-code tool (more than real Artificial Intelligence as we imagine it: a robot that thinks). Used well, it's fantastic. The problem is that everyone has their opinion on AI, but few know how to use it optimally and, above all, know everything that can be asked of it. Finally, human beings have this constant habit of always wanting to divert things and we all pay the consequences. This is also why the internet has become a real trash can.

Cat adoption Bangkok (Suk preferred)
For anyone who wants to adopt a cat or dog, I highly recommend you search on Facebook: Patricia Peksa. she takes care of taking in animals that have been abandoned. They are all cared for when necessary. It's free but you can make a donation. I thus recovered 2 cats (brothers & sisters) who had been abandoned by their master because they had a virus. They were treated and then entrusted to a temporary foster family. They were 3 months old when I got them, they are currently 3 years old...and I can't do without them anymore, even if at first it was a bit hell 😂. I previously had 2 females and this is what I recommend. They are more “together”. The ones I had never left each other's side, slept together, washed each other. Boys and girls, it's a bit like humans 🙄...they ignore each other a little. They chase each other from time to time but not much more. The male sleeps with me very often and was jealous for a very long time, he chased his sister out of my bed whenever she came. With the cold coming back for a few days, it's the first time they've both slept with me 😀

Quality Acoustic Guitar store
First thing you should do : =>Google maps "guitar store Pattaya" then "guitar store bangkok". I've made a quick look and it's true that there is not a lot of shops in Pattaya. But in Bangkok you have a lot of shops (with pictures & reviews). Don't forget to look at the second hand market on Facebook and Kaidee. Last but not least, a look on Lazada and shopee. Many of the shops in bkk also have shops on these market places (search by brands might be better). Careful, there are a lot of counterfeit. Here are the 2 tips to keep in mind: 1. They usually never sell a copy at the price of an original (like on Amazon) 2. Scroll to the specs, if you have: Eg. Brand : no name (or oem)=fake Or brand: Fender (or whatever the brand)=original 😉

Do you use ChatGPT on your computer ?
ChatGPT isn't really a tool for having fun asking him questions. In fact, in the early days, GPT3 on the open AI playground was more designed for this purpose, and it was possible to create really engaging discussions with sometimes bluffing answers. ChatGPT can be seen as an intelligent tool, or more as a series of tools. These tools are mainly designed to save precious time for people working alone on the Internet from home, and for certain companies by performing certain tasks more efficiently. And if you look at it objectively, it's a frontal attack on everything Google has put in place over the last 5-6 years under the name of "quality", which has had exactly the opposite effect. The number of skills required to exist on the Internet has become simply mind-boggling, and for several years I'd been thinking that the only way to survive would be to create teams where everyone brought a different skill to the table. ChatGPT is the answer to this problem, offering you the chance to have assistants working for you. And as with all assistants, the more precise your instructions, the higher the quality of the result. To visualize, the best thing to do is visit sites that store examples of prompts according to theme. There's prompt Genius on Reddit, for example, or a site like datafit, as well as numerous Facebook groups.

Most things are boring
Mr. "Justice of the Peace" has arrived. Bow down before him. Lick his feet or beware his wrath! You'll suffer his nasty jibes and lose your face! He and he alone knows which subjects are interesting and which are not! Hey man, just because your life is limited to the number of beers you drink every day and the younger and younger girls you look at, or because you don't have any perspective on life, that you don't ask yourself any questions, because your brain is more like mush than anything else, doesn't mean that at any moment you have to think you can allow yourself this kind of comment on a forum. It's the difference between saying "it's good / It's not good" and "I like / I don't like" Do you get it ? #dondiegodelavega 😁 When I think that this continues while there was a message about the "new" moderation of the forum...nothing has changed and nothing will ever change, forums are in fact where jerks finally have the right to express themselves. And they don't hold back, to say the least. And the guy is an "advance member" with 5.6k messages sent...OMG

Most things are boring
It's a subject that comes up from time to time when you reach a certain age. And the richer and more exciting your life, the duller things can seem. I don't have the answer to the question, but it brings to mind an artist I discovered recently. I must be living in a cave not to have discovered him sooner, or the YouTube algorithm must have judged that we weren't compatible (sic). - I invite you to watch the video and analyze your reaction. - Read the comments (many will feel less alone). - Watch videos of comments on the video (these are people who film themselves watching a video for the first time on the advice of their subscribers). I avoid these channels in general, but especially for this artist, it's worth it. I particularly agree with what one person wrote in a comment: Through reactions, we try to re-experience what we ourselves felt the first time. - Finally, I invite you to learn more about this artist and what he's going through. DISCLAIMER : the subject and the way it is treated may seem shocking. It's not a slap in the face, it's a Mike Tyson left hook. For the record, this video made over 10 million hits in less than a year. The artist's name is Ren and the song is "Hi Ren". Enjoy. This would certainly deserve a dedicated topic.

Thailand Ruined
It's funny how nothing changes on this forum. Everyone is always inclined to mock the slightest person who expresses a sentiment that doesn't go along with the leaders of this forum. If that isn't a form of intellectual dictatorship... A forum is made for expressing different points of view, and if you disagree, all you have to do is put forward opposing arguments, which creates a constructive and interesting discussion. It's amusing to note the extent to which you felt targeted by the word "grumpy". Where I come from, we say "only the truth hurts"... Even your sense of humor is out of date, and it smelt the finish line for many. Here's to you old farts! (go on, do yourself a favor, I'm unlikely to read you, I only come here very rarely to see if the same morons are still alive or if there's a glimmer of hope)

Why are video games so often blamed for mass shootings?
If you make a ratio between the number of accidents of this type and the number of people who play this kind of game, you'll end up with a number of the order of 0.000001%. And that doesn't prove anything. Don't forget that associations have tried to have certain supposedly violent games banned and never succeeded. What's more, there's nothing to say that the opposite effect isn't occurring: The game becomes an outlet for some, who vent their violent impulses on the game rather than on others. In my experience, it takes a much stronger trigger than a simple video game to trigger this kind of madness. In fact, there were drivers who thought they were "Fangio" long before video games, and no one has ever been able to prove that this number has increased with the arrival of racing simulation games. I'm a former gamer, I grew up with video games, I even played with my father the first video game in the 70s (pong). I agree that there are perverse effects, with children who do nothing else but play video games, who have no interest in anything else. For me, it's always been just a hobby, like tennis or soccer. You have to watch out for excess, as with everything else.

Why are video games so often blamed for mass shootings?
I don't know if you drive like a maniac, but what you just wrote is called a shortcut. But this one will take you down a dead-end road. You blame video games, but what you don't understand is that these people have tipped over into madness. And madness can manifest itself in many different ways. Except we don't talk about it on TV. So your shortcut is murders = video games. What tips you over the edge into madness is a trigger. But these people had an underlying predisposition. Waiting for an occasion to show up. These people are on probation, but they don't know it. Here are a few examples I've witnessed: A violent emotional shock: Attack, death, accident... I've seen 3 cases: The first one : After the explosion of a chemical fertilizer warehouse outside the city, all the windows in the city center exploded. All means of communication were saturated and my ex-girlfriend didn't hear from her father and little brother for 3 hours. The intensity of the stress caused her brain to burn out and she began to have paranoid attacks. She was convinced that she was under constant police surveillance. It wasn't easy, but we managed to get her to see a doctor. She was constantly on medication, because she knew it could happen again at any time. And unfortunately It happened 20 years later when she was married with children... The 2nd, after the death of their father, the brother of a friend became crazy and he wanted to kill his sister, blaming her of being responsible. He end up in a mental hospital. The 3rd was the husband of the woman who initially trained me in my profession. He hanged himself. A 2nd example is taking hard drugs (and in this case, it's more on this side that I'd look, given the ravages of Yaba and Ice): What few people know is that when you take a hard drug for the first time, you're playing Russian roulette with your brain because it's the perfect trigger. But so is taking it in large quantities, because these people don't sleep, and the brain becomes suffocated and switches into madness. Where video games may be indirectly responsible is in the case of the so-called no-lifers (who played World of Warcraft, among other games). But it wasn't the game that was responsible, but their lifestyle: lack of sleep + poor diet. In fact, these cases of madness are more frequent than we think, but nobody dares to talk about them. If you witness a case and talk about it, you'll see that tongues are loosened. Murder is only a tiny fraction of the consequences of madness, but it makes the headlines. Be aware that brain damage is irreversible, so take care of it.

China/Russia-led bloc takes on dollar, Western influence as Putin dodges summit over arrest fears
It's going to be a rude awakening for some...
