  1. Doesn't seem logical why you would choose the most risky option out of anywhere to do the border crossing you choose to ignore the advise of others. Ive never used the Poipet border crossing because i actually take notice of all the reports about it on here.
  2. I advised you in this thread 2 days ago not to use that Border this is the worst entry point to use. Search poipet in this forum and you will see
  3. Which land border are you planning to cross at?
  4. People tell me thais wore masks before covid that’s a myth that’s untrue and kept being repeated until people actually believe it then repeat the same to others. The masks they are wearing dont work for pollution or covid only a well fitted N95 mask will block those particles. Its not a very welcoming experience from a customer service point of view as a customer or tourist when you cant see the staff members faces. I’m unlikely to ask a staff member with a mask on a question as appose to a staff member without a mask on as it’s just socially awkward. If there was 2 restaurants next door to each other and 1 restaurant has all the staff masked up and the other restaurant all the staff smiling I know id be going to the restaurant were you could see peoples faces and smiles. Makes learning thai more difficult when you can’t see the facial movements along with what you hear.
  5. Be able to show an onward flight ticket Be able to show 20,000 baht in cash for each of you or the equivalent Print out of hotel bookings Print out of bank statements showing sufficient funds Some kind of travel plan written down
  6. Which route will the bus come back into Thailand? You should avoid the Poipet border crossing
  7. Purchase a more expensive fully refundable flight ticket. Use this ticket for your visa application then cancel the ticket and get the refund when the visa is approved
  8. Yes i had the same before not an issue. Out of curiosity do you mind be asking how long it took your visa application to be processed from the date you applied?
  9. Pacific cross Thailand or pacific cross global? As ive heard of people saying its better to use a company outside of thailand if im correct?
  10. I understand the costs will be high with age. But would be interested in finding out the best option for him anyway as thats what ive been asked to do. What companies is in peoples recommendations?
  11. No underlying health conditions and yes is prepared to fly back to uk if needed. How about if he decided to move to Thailand full time what would be the best option in terms of companies? Thanks
  12. Hi, I have been asked by a 74 year old family member to look into health insurance policies while living 6 months in the uk per year and 6 months in Thailand per year. Can anyone recommend a good policy for this? Thanks
  13. If you want to enter via Bangkok then don't enter visa exempt considering your long term history in Thailand. Safer to arrive with a 60 day tourist visa less chance of problems with this.
  14. The elite visa is worth it if you know you will be in Thailand for most of the year. For people who only stay in Thailand around 6 months in a year it is not worth the money. Then if circumstances change in a year or 2 where you need to go back to your home country for various reasons then it becomes a waste of money. So while I agree the visa is great for people who plan to stay the entire year there's really not very many good options for people who only stay 6 months per year.
  15. Either purchase a fully refundable flight which you can then cancel when you arrive in Thailand or buy a cheap onward fly ticket from 1 of the sites for between $8-$10. The airline in the USA will certainly ask you for an onward ticket before you are allowed to board.
  16. While there is no official rule on how many you can have and it comes down to the discretion of the immigration officer. Considering he's had quite a few tourist visas in the past it would be safer for him to enter with a visa.
  17. No its not a fact you are simply wrong. If you have a tourist visa the airline still needs to see your onward ticket as the visa is only valid for 60 or 90 days if you extend it. So im always asked on every occasion to show my onward fly ticket when checking in. You are also wrong on it being rare for immigration to ask for an onward fly ticket as I personally know many people this has happened to.
  18. Not completely different at all. You ignored me because you are not able to admit when you are wrong on occasion. Its your posts on the subject that are incorrect and that's a fact not an opinion. You need an onward flight ticket it really isn't that difficult. Seems like you have a good knowledge about visas from your posts im not disputing your knowledge on visas. However on this occasion you are wrong regarding the simple requirement to show an onward ticket to the airline and to immigration if requested. When you post incorrect information like this its giving people problems when they go to check in at the airport.
  19. You done the same thing in this previous thread to all my posts using the laughing emoji. You can't blame someone for using the laughing the emoji when you repeatedly done it yourself to my posts in the other thread.
  20. Would it not make more sense to have a simple onward fly ticket which is cheap or free if you purchase fully refundable ticket. It makes no sense to give yourself the hassle of purchasing an onward ticket at an airport when you have limited time or giving yourself the trouble of speaking to a manager. Its really not that difficult and simple just have the onward ticket to begin with.
  21. Traveling without an onward fly ticket is just silly when the airline requires it considering how cheap onward fly tickets are. Actually you can do it for free you just pay more to book a fully refundable flight which I’ve done before than cancel the flight when you get to Thailand. When the check in desks tell you you need an onward ticket most people don’t want the bother and time of doing this as sometimes it can take 2 attempts to go through. Its poor planning not to already have something planned in advance before the airline tells you you need it.
  22. Why would you want to buy a ticket on the spot and waste time at an airport when you could already have done so for around $10? Airlines are not wrong to ask for it its them that have to foot the bill if immigration sends the person back to their home country. You don't believe me that immigration ask for it that's up to you. You can't help someone who's not prepared to listen or take advice. Its pretty normal for immigration to ask someones who's had multiple visas over several years for an onward fly ticket and 20,000 baht in cash or the equivalent.
  23. That’s not correct I’ve been asked for an onward fly ticket from both the airline and also from immigration in the past with a valid visa. Im not saying you were asked but this is from personal experience. Just because you weren’t asked for it does not mean someone else won’t. It really is up to the airline and the immigration officer in Thailand to make the final decision. It seems very silly not to have an onward fly ticket when you can get 1 for as little as $10. It has nothing to do with your embassy in your own country giving you a visa as they don’t make the final decision to grant you entry it’s the immigration officer in Thailand which has this say that’s what you don’t understand. It seems incredibly stupid to risk so much money and time getting there in the 1st place only to get denied entry when an onward ticket is so cheap. Why take the risk?
  24. Not true when I fly to Thailand I always have a tourist visa in my passport but I only ever book a 1 way ticket to Thailand due to it being uncertain what my next destination is or when I will return to the UK. The airline always asks me do I have an onward ticket to ensure im not overstaying the length of my visa. The airline is responsible as if someone gets denied entry in Bangkok due to not having an onward flight ticket then its the airline who gets fined. Having a visa doesn't guarantee entry to Thailand the final decision rests with the immigration officer in Thailand stamping you entry into the country not with the consulate in your home country who gave you the visa.
