    2. If that person is paying into SSO voluntarily 300 THB per month can she get assigned a government hospital in Bangkok and what is the criteria for what hospital gets assigned? Can a hospital be chosen by herself?

Voluntary SSO payments currently is @  THB 432/-

Can be assigned a hospital in Bangkok only if she in the blue book , her ID card must show BKK address.

    Yes can choose hospital

So, I think you have raised a valid point on the difference between 5-year renewal with a pink ID card or Yellow House book, of which the latter appears to be the best option.

I would add, that in order to obtain a pink ID card, you must have a Yellow House book, but I might be wrong on that.

He used his Pink card and Yellow book both, on the front where it says ID -it mentions his 13 digit pink card number , not his passport.

Further, his name is written in Thai and English both, whereas who use their Passports - name is written in English 2 times.

There are no restrictions on my new license.  The back of the license only contains my full postal address, a QR code and a picture of a motorcycle.

    No other information.

On the front of the license it clearly states

    “Private Motorcycle Driving License”.

On a different note, people are asking about when to renew?

From experience for both car and motorcycle license renewal is that if you renew say a week or a month after your license has expired, the system/computer used by the licensing authority cannot count backwards, only forward. The end result is that you gain almost an extra year.

I renewed 10 days after expiry and received 5 years and 355 days; they always renew to your birthday 5 years ahead of the renewal date, hence the extra 355 days.

My friend renewed his DL with Yellow book and Pink card (not sure which office)

On the back it states that he is restricted to leave the province without permission from the authority (near the address area)

how your PD 90/91 to Labour before they’ll authorize a renewal (assuming you worked in Thailand in the previous calendar year)

This requirement has been in place for years.

Expats on NON B work visa and WP, have to present PND 91 to renew their work permit/visas

The fear and cry is by the expats on retirement extensions/visas !

I am fairly confident that everything will be the same, apart from the 7 short videos and questions raised in these.

The 7 videos and questions were all based around motorcycle driving; so I am quite sure that videos for vehicle license renewal are in a similar manner.

I am confident that the procedure at the LTD office and the completion of the physical tests are the same.

However, I stress again that my experience was at the DLT Area Office 3 Prakanong Sukhumvit Soi 99; actually about 20 meters beyond Soi 99.  We all know that Thai Government offices in different jurisdictions can apply their own rules.

I have attached a screenshot of the DLT Smart Queue Application with the requirement in case of Yellow book etc.

Did they write Restrictions on the back of your D.L  ? Could you post a photo of the back ?

I cannot be placed on her parents blue book bc that home is in Nothaburi

Only Thai nationals and Foreigners who hold Thai PR can be added to a blue book ( Tabien Baan )

First you will have to apply for a Yellow book and then be issued a Pink card. The owner of the blue book has to attend the district office in person with you and vouch for your details

Certified copy of Passport and many other documents are required to get hold of a yellow book and Pink card, best is to talk with your local district office( Amphur or Khet)

Bring a Thai speaker, if you dont speak Thai

That's more than half a year ago. My point exactly. In the past, they weren't they about monthly? Backlog is increasing.

Backlog is increasing bcoz of Dr. Anutin, who has a strong anti foreigner sentiment.

During pandemic time, he was seen strongly criticizing foreigners for not wearing masks, it was in the news and well documented fact.

    That explains the delay

Apparently, the process has changed. That's why there have not been any interviews for 5 months or so

Nope. The new amendments' announced in Jan 2022 have not been implemented as of yet.

They have to be signed by his Excellency and then published in the Royal Gaz, to over ride the old law.

As of today Special Police is still accepting applications for Thai citizenship.

One main change in the new law is that Special Police would no longer accept applications, new candidates would apply at their Local DOPA office.

Whoever told you that the law has changed, ask them the date of the RG publication
