The extension process is the same every year. But individual Imm offices often vary their requirements a bit year by year.

Marriage extension always involved more steps than retirement extension. In no small part because it has to be sent higher up the chain for approval whereas retirement extensions can be approved on the spot at level of Imm office.

The greater paperwork and longer approval time is the trade off for lower financial requirement. Up to you whether worth it or not.

You can work with a Thai Wife extension, if u get a WP sponsored by a company.

Retirees are not allowed to work

Just back from buying a plot of land in my own name upcountry. The obligatory interview with the head of registrations, who always sits at the back of the room, went like this.

"How long have you had Thai nationality?"

"Do you have a copy of your naturalization certificate?"

    "What is your original nationality?"

    "Do you have two nationalities?"

"That's good. You renounced your former nationality in line with the Act." (No enunciation documents requested).

I can only assume that this line of questioning was based on a belief that Thais with dual nationality are not really Thai and should be treated as foreigners by the Land Department. I wonder if she asks look krung the same questions and what she would say if someone said their original nationality was Kiwi which is impossible to renounce.  I doubt this line of questioning has been mandated by the Land Dept or Interior Ministry but it could be a new instruction for all I know. We all know people like district officers are keen on inventing their own silly rules, as they don't have enough real work to do or are unwilling to do it.  Also I once had a problem in a land office in another province, where my original naturalization certificate was demanded, even though I presented a copy, and was asked to sign a silly essay certifying that I really had Thai nationality which had not yet been revoked.  I have bought about 20 different plots since becoming Thai.  My experience has been that in most cases they ask for a copy of the naturalization certificate but don't ask any questions about it. In one or two cases, it was not requested but in one of those they also didn't bother with the obligatory interview with the head of registrations because the seller had good connections there.

Thanks for the detailed explanation @Arkady

I hope this answers your concerns regarding Thai citizenship/naturalization certificate - @samran

  3. @onthemoon I thought so. The software sees the 13-digit number and mistakenly "thinks" that I am Thai. The software people may have never heard of foreigners having 13-digit ID numbers.

    - Correct

But now my other question comes up again: How do you transfer money home once you have your Thai citizenship?

In my case ,my Thai wife transfers to my account abroad- never a problem

If you are unmarried or have a non Thai wife- Not sure but did you try Western Union ?

There is no issue. Sounds like speculation to me

One time I had to apply for a Japanese Business Visa on my non Thai PP.

I truthfully declared my Thai citizenship.

That time the vfs did not say anything, next day got a call from the Embassy that they require my Thai citizenship certificate.

I had to visit the Embassy again and present my original Thai citz certificate, they wouldn't even look at ratcha kitcha.

What would you or your wife do in such a situation?

or what will any female do in this situation?

Seller is Russian, buyer is English

    So in this case -

    the buyer needs :

    - Passport copy of the seller

    - copy of visa

    - blue book registration of the car (original)

Buyers passport copy with visa and

Original Residence certificate from Immigration Office or your respective embassy in Bangkok

Valid Thai Drivers Licence ( Original + 1 copy)
