New 90 Days Reporting Question.

So much easier to drop by the immigration office. Their online service has and never will work! Even our top guy at Hua Hin immigration always laughs about the system and says "not work!!" -
Thai police warn of hefty fines/jail for booze ban offenders

I really think people the world over are on the brink of total anarchy. If everybody sticks 2 fingers up to these outrageous non stop restrictions, what are they going to do? Lock up millions of good citizens who have simply had enough of being treated like irresponsible children? It's time to take our freedom back. Totally incompetent leaders the world over locking down our countries and taking away our rights to live our lives. We've taken the vaccines. We've worn masks for 2 years. We've not seen out families and loved ones for 2 years. The virus is here to stay so enough is enough.- 24 replies

Health insurance in Thailand is a scam. My wife and kids can use the Hua Hin Govt hospital as they carry dual nationality Thai and British and to be fair, for a Govt hospital, the treatment and facilties are not bad at all. Very comparable with Hong Kong. If we needed a procedure we would either do it at HHH or pay for Bangkok Hospital out of pocket. Having been married 28 years and never once having had to use a hospital myself, I took a decision years ago to deposit the equivalent to a full coverage policy into a savings account every year and should I ever need prolonged treatment, then those funds should suffice. Why handover cash every year to an insurance company when in reality its highly likely they'll find an excuse not to cover for the time you're sick. So save that cash and if you're lucky not to get sick, you've not wasted a cent and if you do eventually fall ill, there should be plenty saved up from not giving those premiums to some scamming insurance company.

Thailand to consider early reopening of bars
Charlie Halliday replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
. They say more than 50k tourists have arrived since Nov 1st! No that's not the case. Most of those 50k are Thai and expat returnees. Hua Hin has so far seen 8 tourist since November 1st. The reality is about 5 to 10k tourists have arrived since Nov 1st, so we're on course for up to 15k tourists this month compared to 3.7m in November 2019. Great job TAT and Thai Govt. Marvellous. Looks like the industry will be safe in your very capable hands. -
Tourism on the rise in southern Thailand, experts say
Charlie Halliday replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
So the clown in chief is promoting more Mega events to get the tourists in yet won't open pubs where responsible middle aged people like to meet over a few beers. Fortunately there are a few options to meet in Hua Hin where alcohol is served as the local bill don't seem to bother the owners. At least they get it. Without serving booze these restaurants would die -
Alcohol remains off the menu at restaurants in Hua Hin

Plenty of booze available and served in the restaurants we frequent in Hua Hin. The cops have turned a blind eye until curfew time as they know these businesses need to make a living. -

Thailand steps up efforts to attract more expats

Keep dreaming. You couldn't make this stuff up. Not even a consideration for the 1000s of wealthy Farang already here who have to 90 day report and put up with all the BS at immigration every year. What a circus Thailand has become. -
Nightmare scenarios continue in wake of Thailand Pass launch
Charlie Halliday replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Thailand technology is as good as anywhere. Anyone paying tax here will tell you that. They know to the last satang what you owe them. The reason the 90day reporting app does not work is because they don't want it to work. The reason for all the paper work rather than online visa renewals is because they can make up errors which cost us money. They want to make the visa application so arduous that we end up paying them under table money to make it happen. It's all about corruption. These immigration centres rake in millions by taking bribes to speed up the process. If it was all online none of these crooks would have jobs. Welcome to Thailand folks. -
Thailand Pass helps streamline international arrivals
Charlie Halliday replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What most people don't fully understand is that Thailands economy is way more dependent on tourism than the 15% of GDP figure they loosely throw around. Its more like 30% when you add on the unseen intangibles. The amount of money we give to our respective Thai families, paying medical bills, repairing property, hiring family for unskilled labour, buying food, and the list goes on. So if travellers don't come because of the stupid test and go policy, I'm pretty sure this govt will have to drop all restrictions by next month other than the compulsory proof of double Vax. The cost of test and go plus covid is too high and is about the same as a pre covid economy flight from the UK. People won't pay double to come here unless they have family here. There are plenty of better options elsewhere. Amazing how this govt never consult us farang who have lived here for years and sent millions supporting the economy. Bizarre really. -
Oh wow aren't we all shocked. We've been saying for weeks that nobody in their right mind will risk the testing on arrival and 6 days later. The 6k people arriving today at Suvarnabhumi are mostly Thais returning home after being stranded for 2 years. My daughter who we haven't seen for almost 3 years is desperate to visit but won't risk the current conditions. Who wants to be dragged to a hospital for 2 weeks. Come on Prayut, the only chance is to follow Singapore, Europe and now Australia. Just open to all double vaxxed people. Economy flights from UK at this time of year used to be around 500 quid. Now they're around GBP1k plus with the PCR and SHA Hotel and insurance. It's another 500quid. So just to get here is 1500 quid and then you may end up in hospital. Forget it. Another high season gone and millions out of work.
-
Makes no difference.. Its November next week and Europeans do not book trips to the other side of the world at one months notice. Besides the risk with PCR testing on arrival and waiting in a hotel for results are not gonna entice people in other than the long stayers, which is the minority. Yet another season lost. I feel for the millions of Thais who've lost their jobs and businesses. Can't help but feel the army have intentionally screwed it up as they hate farang and don't want us here anyway.

Hua Hin International school reopen 4 weeks ago.
-
So if you are a Thai passport holder, like my daughter, does she have to have insurance and can she not just go direct to her home rather than a hotel. None of this is clear at all. It's now nearly November and it's no clearer now than it was a month ago. Forget having a high season. Pathetic and very sad for millions of Thais
-
What is a High Society woman? Is it someone who is better than everyone else? I've always found these so called HiSo Thais to be the most repugnant, ignorant and incredibly badly educated people in the country. Give me a country Thai person who has self educated and learnt manners any day over those ghastly wannabes.
-
The sad thing about this incompetence from the govt is that millions of Thais who had been hoping for a reopening so they could at least feed their families will now have to survive yet another high season without any tourists. There is no way tourists are coming here in any numbers with these travel restrictions. How many times do we need to tell them. They want foreigners in Thailand to support the reopening plan but that's impossible when the rules make it so difficult for anyone to visit. Drop all conditions aside from double vax proof and open the country or RIP the economy
-
He can go back and forth with different variations on the same theme as many times as he wants. The reality is none of those 7 to 10 days tourists, which accounts for more than 95% of tourists, will even bother booking a flight unless all conditions aside from being double vaxxed are dropped. PCR test prior to departure of home country and proof of vaccination. Nothing else will bring in the numbers they are so desperate to achieve in order to save the industry. Forget all the fit to fly docs, PCR on arrival, one night hotel or whatever, embassy green light in home country. FORGET IT. WON'T WORK.

Hua Hin is not about its beaches which are very average. But having lived here for 10 years, I can say its safe, got all the amenities such as good intl school, intl hospital, great shopping, fantastic golf courses and great variety of restaurants. Add that all together and its hard to find a better place to live well in Thailand. And the Thai people in Hua Hin are some of the best people about. Really friendly and helpful. Don't knock it til you've tried it.
