Heck, there is at least 91 punks selling porn discs in Pantip Plaza.
Very pushy and rude. If I can find them, why can't the cops?
Most of the porn sold at Panthip is sold thru people with police connections.

How did he end up in the jail?
How long was he overstayed and what opportunity did he have to pay his fine?
If the embassy isn't prepared to help what are they suppose to do.
If someone overstays and gets slung in prison is the embassy under no obligation to help?

man... keeping a healthy marriage is hard already, now we're talking intercultural marriage...and THIS too?!?! No wonder Nana is such a hot spot.
anyway, british accent is sexy, give them a little break. ;-)
Don't tell us ... tell Dr Thaksin or the Immigration heavies in Soi Suan Phlu. They make the rules.
What isn't clear from this article is whether or not it is necessary to pony up an "additional" 400k thb whenever you renew your non immigrant visa. I would put it past them to require another each renewal.

Can somebody explain to me how this is better than before?

Shops selling khao tom (rice porridge) can stay open all night as they are not covered by the new law, Pracha said.
gotta feed those hungry bar girls after they meet their quota
No! More like several cabinet members own their own Khao Tom shops.

You would be better off making an action in Photoshop and running this using the "automate/batch" feature that will generate new images based on originals or convert the images.
Often software that displays thumbnails simply generates them on the fly from the originals. No it doesn't just use the same image file it generates a smaller one using Imaging libraries to decrease the image.

I already uploaded my CV and Image (for those interested) into the jobs forum however I will say that it was frustrating to have to reenter all of the form again when it was invalid. Generally any time you ask someone to fill out a form you should retain it's contents whenever something is invalid and they have to go back and try again.

What other countries have this policy whereby when you check into a Hotel they are required to send your details to immigration? The only reason I can see for this is so that people can be tracked so that the revenue gravy train from visa renewals is protected.
-
Well basically what is happening is here is since they've upped all the visa renewal fees they are protecting their interests and ensuring that folks renew when they are expected to either by leaving and returning or at Soi San Plu...
As always in Thailand it's about money.

Won't places like the The Glass Home, The Brew Pavillion etc be totally up in arms about
such a draconian measure?
What's constitutes a bar anyway? This would shut down most of Ratchda but unfortunately will close small clubs like Grappa (my favourite) and Sugarbean and others that Thais
frequent.

I hope the Danish embassy follows thru with this case. It's completely absurd to think anybody would kill themselves like that and the Pattaya police or whoever suggested
it was suicide _before_ an autopsy needs to be reprimanded.
There is no violence in Thailand. It's just a country that encourages everybody to top themselves. Murders don't happen here. Suicides do.
Do me a favour.

Well her hospital stay will carry her thru the December 22 date she was suppose to leave by so I hope they don't plan to charge her overstay because of this attack.

Bangkok's Taxi Drivers might want to start taking matters into their own hands soon otherwise they will find they won't have any customers.
When the catch this guy he needs to be charged with a non trivial offence like attempted vehicular homicide or something that keeps in incarcerated for a very long time.

Has anybody seen a full transcript posted yet?

Let's try this one again.
The headline is
"Tourist has Bad Luck after Theft At Thai Wat"
but the story clearly shows that tourist believed at the time that it wasn't wrong
to take the glass so how can it be theft?
Please try to keep to the facts in your headlines.
Will you remove this reply too?

Well if you are wearing articles of value you're always gonna attract the attention of undersirables in Thailand. You have to exercise common sense when in Thailand. The less you show when you are by yourself and a night the better your chances..
It's only a matter of time before you're turned over if you wear gold chains and gold jewellery. I myself never wear any gold in Thailand. But I don't go looking for trouble
either.

If you want to buy Toshiba seek out the Chevaliar Computer Group in Bangkok. They are the biggest Toshiba dealers and the authorized Toshiba Dealer in Bangkok. I've find them
to be most professional. There's one at Fortune, one west of MBK and one on Silom Road near or in Silom Complex.

You can find a reputable place in Panthip to buy Laptops from.
Stick with Compaq or Toshiba. I like the Portege M1 but it might be too small for her needs.
Otherwise try the newer widescreen Compaqs.
These days you pay for Centrino but if you don't want it there was some bargains
to be had in the older Presarios.
I myself use a Titanium Powerbook.

Has Mr Thaksin commented on this incident yet? Normally when anything happens that casts a shadow over Thailand tourism image he's the first to come out and speak.
My sympathy's for the JAL employee I truely enjoy flying with your employer and I hope you are able to make a full recovery.

There are more than you'd think. Most major hotels have them as do a couple of shopping malls. Thailand is not the country I'd want to be caught for electronic tresspassing though.

So I've been married for just over two years and I'm still living separate from my wife. This is because I usually work in IT in USA and from time to time I take time off to visit my wife in Thailand. I recently tried taking her to Australia and we stayed two weeks and I decided that income taxes were far to high as was the cost of living based on my earning potential there. That and I really couldn't think what she'd actually do there. She use to work for an airline which made travel easy but now she's working for a shipping company.
Have any of you folks who married a good thai girl stayed on in Thailand, even if it meant changing your career? These days there isn't much of a career in IT which is why it's always a constant delima for me to live away from my wife.
Note: where there is work right now ie. USA my wife cannot travel because I'm only a greencard holder here despite her already have a long term multiple entry visitors visa already.
The issue becomes whether I should subject my wife to life in the UK with me working for a company or make a serious effort to make a go of it in Thailand so that she can stay close to her family and I can be with her.
I've stayed many times in Thailand often for long periods at a time so I'm fairly accustomed to life there. But I'm also a cynic and I'm not sure the policy makers welcome me there even though I married a Thai from a good healthy modest background.

So if there is a terrorist attack someone is going to have to be accountable for this decision.
Clearly they don't want foreign leaders to see how the state hospitals are run here otherwise they wouldn't be closed.
OR
The government CEO's have ownership in the privately run hospitals.

I was told by AIS that I will be charged 1 baht per SMS that I send via their web site. ie. receiver of the message pays.

I use SMS to my cell phone in order notify me of new incoming email messages. Before DTAC started using Captcha's on their website there was easy but now whilst I can still use DTAC's website to send SMS to a cell phone I cannot do it in an automated way.
Right now in my case, I'm just forwarding the email without body to Hotmail and using Hotmail alerts to my cell phone instead to let me know when new email has arrived.
It's better than nothing but it's not how I'd like it to work here.
Treatment On Arrival If Thai Overstayed ....
in Visas and migration to other countries
Posted
So, does anybody have any detailed information about what happens to a Thai national if they have overstayed in another country. I'm hearing that Thai immigration makes it their business to police these matters and that the Thai national's passport is "updated" to reflect that they overstayed which would obviously impeded any international travel in future.
...
My wife use to work for an airline and she remembers being asked specifically to escort passengers arriving that were known to be overstayed in their countries of origin. She recalls taking these people to immigration where they were required to sign some paperwork and their passports were stamped to indicate that they had overstayed in their country of origin. Said stamping would certainly making future international trips difficult. And my wife encountered cases where the last name of the Thai already indicated that she was married to a westerner.
