  1. The critical mind is aware that evidence can change and scientific consensus can change with the facts and I'm sure he's changed his opinion on that. There were plenty of other scientists pushing back on his opinion at the time so it was open for people to educate themselves. Just because he was wrong then does not mean he will always be wrong. Indeed, a number of presidents from both parties trusted his judgement for decades. Fauci ultimately received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his efforts to curb the AIDS crisis in Africa. It cannot be logically concluded that it follows that the science will always change to any great degree. I'm not going to wait around 30 years to find out. I'd rather be alive for that long and the chances of that happening are not very good if I don't get vaccinated based on the science we have now.
  2. You know it is possible for free thinking people to arrive at a conclusion that the smart play is just to have the vaccines?
  3. That's the thing about peer reviewed articles. Unless you are a big believer in conspiracy theories it's impossible to run propaganda. The reasons have been clearly published. The vaccines are not 100% effective and protection has been shown to increase markedly with a third shot. A 4th shot has only been recommended for vulnerable people at very high risk.
  4. already posted in this thread. I know the anti science crowd don't ever read anything which challenges their fixed beliefs.
  5. There's a lot of data which contradicts it and fact checks (AAP) which criticize that one article.
  6. How about the sheep who believe lies and pseudoscience from social sources without ever looking at an actual scientific research article?
  7. Many have taken the shots anyway but carry on about personal choice and freedoms. It's mostly all politics. There's extremely scant evidence the shots are anything like as dangerous as the virus.
  8. If you are a non-U.S. citizen who is a nonimmigrant (not a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or traveling to the United States on an immigrant visa), you will need to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before you travel by air to the United States from a foreign country. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/proof-of-vaccination.html All But 2 Major U.S. Airlines Have Announced Vaccine Mandates https://www.forbes.com/sites/suzannerowankelleher/2021/10/03/major-us-airlines-vaccine-mandates/?sh=53c54d6873d9
  9. the exceptions heavily affect most Australians since QANTAS is our largest overseas airline.

  11. A pity people didn't complain with the same fervour about the money tobacco companies made from cigarettes, the massive profits from beer or junk food.
  12. They do, they are just not 100% effective. Seat belts save lives, just not all lives. You would have it that if one vaccinated person gets an infection then the vaccines don't stop infections. How ridiculous. https://www.wionews.com/world/one-in-5000-the-real-chances-of-a-breakthrough-infection-411455

  14. non sequiter. Unless the vaccines were 100% effective we would still have to wear masks. What is known is that vaccines do stop transmission of delta at least and a vaccine after natural immunity is better than natural immunity alone. Only fools would gamble that they will survive delta just to get natural immunity.
  15. People who don't vaccinate against medical advice without a medical exemption deserve far less than respect. They are incubating the virus and increasing the risk of mutations as well as passing it on to others. In the case of delta, the chance of a breakthrough infection once vaccinated are miniscule and there is still plenty of delta floating around. Hospitals are being overwhelmed by omicron cases simply because it's so infectious and the vast bulk of patients in ICU are unvaccinated. meanwhile, elective surgery is being cancelled. I would be in favour of vaccine mandates with criminal prosecutions for those who don't comply.
