How did she buy a gun ??
Maybe the same way that Thais can buy unlicenced weapons or maybe it wasn't hers? The OP did not report that she bought it.

Couple of issues that are not clear here, first, strange that a foreigner was given a permission to own a gun and
secondly, the property must be owned by a company or a Thai entity, unless it was already registered in the house
keeper name...
The OP didn't report that the gun was legally owned. What does the technicality of the method of property ownership matter?

Yes, the BBL app was updated to allow for ATM Cardless Withdrawals from partner banks in March.
They display only KBank as an option.
"Withdrawals from partner banks..."
The BBL app refers to "our partner bank", not banks, so, yes, only Kasikorn.

Great news, hopefully it stays free. I wonder what is the benefit to the banks to do this?
PR and potential new BBL accounts from existing Kasikorn customers.

The K+ app has not notified me of the alleged "new feature", just checked now. There is no reference to BBL on the K+ cardless withdrawal section, either.
Are you on the latest version of the K-Plus app? It was updated on April 25. Version 5.18.3
The app updated to .3 this morning and I received the notification of the cardless-to-BBL facility also.

nteresting, thanks, 5.18.2, thought that they updated automatically.
EDIT: Turns out that the update is happening gradually, not for all customers at the same time. 30% already updated the rest by May 3rd, according to Kasikorn just now. You must be one of the privileged ones!
It's possible apps don't get updates if you don't have the Thai playstore as the default. I switch between UK and Thai. I had 5 thai apps pending update from April
Coincidence, got the K+ "cardless to BBL" notification and the update this morning.

You "see them all the time"...really? Do you monitor all these "shakedown" speed traps and the motorists that are apprehended? How often do you do these surveys?
So you do not "see them all the time shaking down motorists", as you claimed...didn't think that you did.

They announce one of these"crackdowns" about once a year. 500 baht fine for overcharging IF they are prosecuted, so much for that.
No chance of their being prosecuted if no one bothers to report it to the police.

Letting riders ride off without a helmet after paying a fine is a sure sign that road blocks are for money and nothing to do with enforcing the law or road safety
"Letting off" those without a helmet after paying a fine is not letting them off, it is fining them!

The rider without a license gets stopped at the roadblock then he is instructed to pay a visit to the police station where everyone is already expecting him, he pays 550 TBH and gets a paid mark on the slip. One cop even told me when I went back to get the motorbike, "If they stop you again you can show this slip with the PAID mark on it!
That's been the process for years and is official. The receipt is supposed to be to prevent the driver being done twice for the same offence but only for that day...it can't be used for ever.

If those "innocent victims" are caught in speed traps. wouldn't they, by definition, not be innocent victims?

The problem is obviously the lazy and corrupt police. If they would do their job, then this, and many other problems, wouldn't exist.
"If they would do their job"...Really? How many people report these issues to the police? Without that, or without every passenger being escorted into the taxi by a police officer, how could the police do that part of their job?

My Thai bank (BB) phoned to ask the reason for a Sterling remittance of £ 25000 from my UK bank.... it hasn't happened here before and I wondered what is the general experience.
Not unusual for higher amounts and unusual transactions, maybe B1m triggers the enquiry. A lot to do with AML procedures.

Misunderstanding.
My post has nothing to do with collecting money from an ATM. It's about the K-Bank app.
I had those problems when I was at home when I wanted to use the app.
Outside I also almost never use WIFI.
Banking apps frequently have an intermittent dislike for public wifi, my BBL app sometimes will not respond if I'm trying to scan a bar bill until the wifi is disconnected.

If I am using an American debit card at a Thai ATM, is there any way to use the cardless feature?
Your US bank is the one to ask about that.

You have obviously never been locked up in Thailand. You think you just call up room service from the phone beside your bed to tell them to restock the mini bar?

Once again, you dont have any experience. I high proportion of LBs in Thai jails.
I know a repeat offender. He loves going in there, locked up in a room with sex deprived males. It is his fantasy.
"You have obviously never been locked up in Thailand. You think you just call up room service from the phone beside your bed to tell them to restock the mini bar?"
I have...Klong Prem. Prisons have shops available to inmates where they can buy food, amongst other things. Certain food items can be ordered for the next day on a prison order form in the cell at night. Food could also be sent in if ordered by someone outside...pizzas were frequent orders sent in for foreigners in addition to normal Thai food that many Thais received.
"Once again, you dont have any experience. I high proportion of LBs in Thai jails".
Once again it is you and your mate who are not so well-informed. There are LBs in male prisons but they are not the "high proportion" that you assert. The cell that I was in was also used for the LBs in our block and they were a small minority, probably five out of 28/30 normal inmates. Never once was there any sexual activity in our cell, in fact they kept themselves to themselves with very little interaction.

Where did you get that "double taxed, double VAT" garbage from?
Pay tax in my own country and pay VAT in my own country
So Thailand is not double-taxing you as your post suggested.

Commission and policies ??? - the 1990's wants its words back lol
The era of endowments ended decades ago which is where these terms came from.
FYI, commission has been barred in the UK for many years, as an example.
FYI. the thread is not about the UK, it's about expat advisors in Thailand.

What about regular post - i.e. grandparents sending presents over etc....
This is only about postal deliveries. "Grandparents presents" have never been exempted from VAT or import duty, unless by virtue of low value or specific exemptions such as laptops.
