  1. Last month I was on Ko Muk -- The snorkelling wasn’t great here but u can rent a boat for the day (baht1,000) and snorkel of Ko Kraden (25 minutes away) -- As u look at ko Kraden from Ko Muk, the best snorkelling is to the left -- three or four walls, massive amount of fishes -- unfortunately the Thai like to feed the fish, which of course is bad, but also good cos there's massive shawls -- When I lived in Australia I knew most of the species by name, but now all I can tell u is there were many different types, coral k and the walls make for a good day of snorkelling and only 25 minute boat ride -- Ko Muk better island to say on

  2. Hi

Maybe you could explain briefly where you are coming from (in Bangkok) because Victory Monument is not the best place to pick up the bus. The effort involved with making the connection (bags, heat, humidity, etc...) will make the baht 100 saving not worth it. Unless u will be going to the airport on a daily basis, it is nearly always better to take a taxi. The cost savings over using the BTS+bus+ .... will be minimal. And when u arrive at the airport u will have to use a transfer bus from the bus terminal.

I prefer to use public transport when going to the airport (eg Singapore), but at the moment its too complicated in Bangkok. By bthe time u arrice at the airport u will be in need of a shower. Even when the new train is up and running, the cost savings will be minimal.

  3. Non Immigrant O Visa -- Multi Entry

My Visa issued 18 Aug 2008

    First utilised 28 Aug 2008

Expires 17 Aug 2009 (one year visa)

    The Question is

---- How best to utilise the last entry? Could I depart and re-enter Thailand on the 16 August and get a new 3 month visa?

  4. Hi

I am curious about 2 buildings I pass regularly in Bangkok. I assume they are Royal buildings but maybe someone on thai.visa knows?

1-What’s the royal building on Phayathai behind Siam Discovery

2-Samsen Sen Road, close to Saphan Sanghe (Krung Thon Bridge)

    Thanks

  5. Hi

Any suggestions as to which Bar serves the best pint of Guinness in Bangkok? Any happy hours for Guinness? Just curious because I have lived here for a few years and although I'm Irish, I normally drink Leo.

    Thanks

Best deal on Guinness is at the Witches Oyster Bar on Soi Ruam Rudee, near Ploen Chit BTS. Buy one get one free, so effectively half price, assuming you'll be drinking more than one pint (they'll bring your second free one after you've finished the first if you like, rather than both coming together).

Not a bad pint in there either for Bangkok standards: but there's nowhere that really stands out as serving the best Guinness - all pubs have their on-days and off-days I find. If the pub itself is fairly nice, such as the Bull's Head, The Dubliner, etc. then there's a higher chance that the Guinness will probably be OK. If the pub's clearly pretty crap, such as the Duke of Wellington on Silom or the Robin Hood on Sukhumvit, then don't bother ordering the Guinness.

To each his own. I like the Duke of Wellington, I'm not impressed with O'Reillys, and I'm happy to go to the Dubliner and Molly Malones while finding Bull's Head too "in your face".

It's actually quite a pleasant pastime hunting for the perfect Guinness!

    Thanks

  6. Think Guinness is now included again in the Sunday evening happy hour 'Toss the Boss' at the Bulls Head. Whilst I too have yet to find a pint of the black stuff here that really hits the mark, at least you might get it for free at the BH! Worth a try!!

    Thanks
