How about those who deny medical treatment to their children in the name of god? How about those who stone women in the name of god? How about those who commit mass suicide in the name of god? Is that OK?
The aztec sun god forecast the coming of the conquistadors and the geneside of their race so of course there is a god.Only one of them was saved that of course was one of his miracles.

Years ago I have been with my wife at a party in Amnat Charoen (deepest Isaan, 80 km from Ubon). A guy talked to me. After 10 minutes I realized that he spoke English with me. At the end of the evening my wife told me that he is the English teacher of the local school...
your English isn't so good then?no reply needed. I read your post....

if guilty lock 'em up for a very long time as an example for future attempts.
And since when did you found out that locking people up is a deterrent for a crime?
Care to share your knowledge with us?

No Thai authority has any idea how to manage passport theft in Thailand...I doubt many reported thefts go further than the local cop shop.
As to follow up and investigation....never happens to my knowledge...I don't remember them ever returning a lost passport......until something such as the Malaysian plane mystery.....once the international agencies start to get involved, as they now have, then the back pedalling starts....simply smearing more egg on Thai faces!
Well considering the Passports were on the Interpol stolen list it's obvious that it does go further than the local cop shop
Thailand's Police/Government/Immigration are not at fault here as the Passports theft was on the Interpol database
But hey let's not let the facts get in the way of a good old bit of Thai Bashing
I may be missing something here but if they booked flights with stolen passports, and then left Thailand with the same passport how long was the overstay?shouldn't it have raised a flag at immigration?

A Usufruct is noted on the back of the chanote. Consequently, if there is a falling out and she wants to sell the land, and if she does find a buyer, the usufruct transfers with the sale. I don't know of any other use agreement that is noted on the land ownership document. The only time a usufruct can be entered on a chanote is when a transfer of ownership takes place. The usufruct allows you exclusive use of the land, with or without the owner of the land. Theoretically, you could rent or lease that use.
Living in a village if there is a falling out will probably not be possible. Consequently, I recommend buying land in or very near a provincial capital where there are other farang living. This way, you may be able to remain in your home if there is a falling out. Just because you could afford to move on if you loose your investment doesn't mean you shouldn't protect yourself as much as possible.
If your girlfriend is unwilling to live somewhere other than her village, move on. Good sex is relatively easy to find. A loving and committed partner is more important in the long run.
While there are numerous ways of holding/using property in Thailand, remember, we are visitors and, practically speaking, have less standing than locals when it comes to dealing with all levels of the bureaucracy. Keeping is simple is often the best approach.
As an Udon expat you should be aware that the land office in Udon is no longer issuing Usufructs.I have read on other forums Udon not being the only province...When a policeman friend of mine rang them(last week) they simply said "we don't want to do it" Mai yak hi"..I believe the the land officer in charge has discretionary power ....although this is the (law?) of the land in Thailand. At the end of the day its on the whim of some government official...TIT..faarang buyers beware...

I did a 90 day report in Nongkhai although registered at Chiang Khan ,,Loei provinces I disagree with the posters.I would ask at your local office first. While in Nongkhai the officer told me no but think he was hedging for a tip.I had a visa with a work permit for 4 years as a teacher. After I told him where I taught and that the office in Loei told me I could extend ANYWHERE he extended my 90 days 4 days before it was due...My experience...

Thanks for the replies, I will go for the 80% and destroy a couple of things, always wanted to know how it feels to destroy a washingmachine, flat screen and some walls using a hammer. Not scared for gangsters or cops as there will be no proof and I'm well connected with those.
I just wanted to play things fair, but if she wants war it's fine with me, I don't care about the other 10k as for me it's only about the fact I didn't do anything wrong. dam_n I would even pay it myself if she didn't try asking it from me in the first place. I think I'm gonna enjoy this payback :-)
Thanks guys
