  1. if every goes on holiday to thailand you'll get more deaths in Thailand. What about relative numbers compared to the number of aussies living and coming to thailand. Wonder if it still hits the number 1 position then. Just reporting a number doesn't mean anything.... More people have died in China last year than in Luxemburg, no shit, China has about 10000 times more people.

    they all died of constipation?

  2. I live out in the sticks in Loei..\Recently have had my bank card cloned pin number stolen and over £900mtaken from my acct.I am still waiting to hear from my bsnk,,So just a warning.. I have no idea how they do this but will in future be extra careful.I just want people to be aware of this scam and be extra vigilant.I am sure it must be even more prevalant in tourist towns and Bkk. .no need to reply with any clever jibes or witicisms..\thanks.

  3. If you are retired and on a low pension, then 6 million baht(125,000USD) of annuities would give you 21,000 baht a month guaranteed income for the rest of your life (not sure if you can buy annuities in Thailand or not though- in which case you could buy the Genting Singapore Casino's perpetual bonds would give a similar monthly return (but through two 6 monthly payments) it has 5.1% return (and with 15% of Singapore population being millionaires looks to be a good biz to invest in).

Alternatively, i would put 1-2 million baht into ADVANC (ais stock) and 500k-1 million baht in KBANK, the rest in gold.

6 million baht $125,000?????????????? I would trust you as my financial advisor..............not

  4. Infrastructure- agreed it will take time.

    Professionalism? Do me a favour.

Murders, hotel fires, scams, ruined beaches, polution, rubbish, riots, floods, lawlessness etc. Will also play their part.

Enough about Thailand.............................the topic is about Burma coffee1.gif

No it isn't.I would say its much more about Thialand than Burma.MO

  5. .....and did Mr Peter (the Frenchman) have a WP for working in a bar?

Over the past few years, I have seen the numbers increasing of young(er), under-the-influence hot heads making their way to Isaan, starting problems and then complaining when problems are resolved Thai-style (no, there are no rules of combat or diplomatic resolution) when it comes to hot headed Farangs mouthing off and swinging their arms in bars and restaurants.

I am pretty sure he (Peter) is the co-owner of the bar, legal under the Thai system - Thai Co-owner also works in the bar.

The deceased is a loosely connected friend of mine, it turns out, that I knew under a different name (her English name). We (along with a larger group of friends who get together when I am in Udon) used to play snooker together with other friends at Phon Tattoo bar, in one of the Sois near to the night market. A popular place where teachers, night people, and married couples come to relax and shoot a few 8 balls and sink a few brews. "Solicitation" is banned at this bar, and the owner is the only woman who works at the bar, with her husband, an exceptional tattooist.

To those that are critical of the lifestyle that the deceased lived, please understand you should walk a path and understand that not everyone has choices, before you judge her. In Udon, this lifestyle is not a contract to earn as it may be in other areas, many girls do this because they cannot get work anywhere else.. Isaan does is not exactly short of low skilled workers.

I ask, Mr. Michael made the choice to give her money - correct? Most men coming to these parts know that women working in bars can almost never be taken for their word, she took his money, he took her life. Friendship, and above all trust-relationships, are built over long periods of time between Thais, not in minutes as it may be in the clubs of the west. Which is the greater loss? His money or her life?

    RIP Nat.

so your sayin this guys innocent and Mr Michael killed her?

  6. wait pavements are for pedestrians to walk?

This is a novel approach. Maybe it really is Miracle Year in Amazing Thailand...

I really would like all motorbikes to just follow road rules and stop thinking that because they are small normal road rules don't apply to them...

Please show me the law that prohibits motorcycles from riding on the sidewalk, as I'm pretty sure it is 100% legal.

yes and while your on please show ME the law thats says I cant ride my motorcycle and juggle empty bottles of Heinikin at the same time....

  7. I never heard this 1 before so maybe some1 can put me right...I was told open company keep 36% of shares for myself..then give 2 Thais the other64%...32% each..Alo have them sign a loan saying I am lending them the money to buy the shares in my company..If they default on the loan when and if i call it in they must give back the shares..Anyone heard of this..Is it a possibility.I should say this is 2 rai of land to build a house..Thank for replies.....thomas

  10. Nice work, but shouldn't the NCCC have bigger priorities than hunting for film festival bribery? rolleyes.gif

This seems kinda small compared to the real corruption dirt that is floating around in LOS.

For sure, but 54M Baht ain't small potatoes! At least it's a start. Good for them!

A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step (quote..Some Chinese bloke)I agree with you but

I'm afraid its mostly posturing.I hope I am wrong for Thai people themselves. It seems to be engrained in most of us ,corruption, greed,

recently in the UK with Murdoch and his cohorts..The biggest copper in UK resigns.Maybe we can't change, but at least let's admit it's not only wrong but affects all those lower down the food chain.I wish them well in their efforts.

  11. 2 brits wanting to go Myanmar in October for 2 week holiday..My question is is the visa easy enough to make at the embassy in Bkk?How long does it take and any thoughts as to how I can get US dollars in Bkk to as I am told there are no atms in Myanmar..thank you in advance..thomas

  12. My question is with the ASEAN block and its stated aim of free flow of good and people within it(2015),does this mean that we will see cheaper cars maybe and electrical items coming from the likes of Singapore...If this be the case then how will Thailand make up it's lost tax revenue?thanks for your views..thomas

  13. Strangely, I don't totally disagree with your assessment of his performance, and I also understand you have the right to say whatever you want about him, and the right to call him names, or make slurs about his origins, etc. However, it just puts you in the same category as the other wingnuts and assorted losers who act like kindergarteners, calling names, and saying, na,n,na,n,na,na.. Grow up, and maybe someone of substance will pay attention to you. I still think the holder of the office of the President of the USA deserves some respect. Ask yourself this: would you say those things directly to his face? You wouldn't to mine, and be able to walk away...

So many 'keyboard warriors', sh*t oh dear!

Your a contradiction..........You make posts telling me not to call folks names all the while calling names yourself like....nitwits,wingnuts,etc...

Then make a claim of being able to do something your not capable of & then immediately calling others keyboard warriors????

Puleeze ..It is only your fingers making promises your body cant fulfill

Grow up........If you have something about the topic to say then post it....Your not the hall monitor.

And Yes I do say in real life & on the computer what fits.....It would be the same if I were talking to Zobama, you or anyone's face if the shoe fits.

I totally agree but wouldn't say it to his face for the fear of his wrath.....
