Truly great pics Kan Win I did waterfall shots for a week Saiyoke noi and Erawan also.....wow what a place that was.

I think I made the right choice on which photo to post as my wife was extremely greatful. I am sure I Kan find time

to post some of those in the future and in the end I hope it will be Win WIN

Great shot.......Always dreamed of having my ducks in a row.

As I’m sure many of you know the Nation online website has links

on its opening page to Thai Visa. I’m not sure how they are chosen

but it would be great as the day of the verdict approaches if this

thread could find its way on that short list of links.

These private buses are often decorated with colorful images.

While some are used for tourism, many are now being used

by large factories to shuttle workers back and forth.

I'm planning a few days up in the capital.

I'd like to shoot Suvanabhumi, Wat Po and the Grand Palace site.

Point is, there appears to be a great deal of scams, scandals and problems associated with either these places or shooting them.

Can anyone advise please

I’ve shot at all three locations with no problems.

You have to wear long pants at the Grand Palace no matter

how hot it gets. Normally you would not need a guide

at THe Grand Palace except that your stock shot needs

might require details that would be easy to obtain from a guide.

I think I paid 300 baht for half a day. Check their english skills

if you decide to go that route. Good luck with the weather.

As far as the airport some photos of King Power would be

highly prized.

some jumbo prints next week for some friends.

Heading through the Land of Kan next week on

my way to Sangkhlaburi. Saw this big wooden

bridge that is there on TV a few days ago.

Hope I can get a good angle on it and do an HDR.

Am not sure what change you are talking about for departure card - as have never used the new type - but the card should remain the same - you have not received a new visa.

I stand corrected. It was the reentry permit stamp that has a number on it

in the top left corner box and the immigration officer made me change the number on my

card instead of using my visa number. It was hand written so I could barely read it.

Bangkok Immigration at Soi Suan Phlu. You will probably use the 5th floor offices that take care of area directly North of Bangkok.

Just wondering : I want to extend a Tourist Visa, can I go everywhere I want to go ?

I waited in line downstairs and took a number.

When it was my turn to extend my tourist visa

they said because of where I lived Pathumtani

(Rungsit) they could not do it downstairs and

sent me to the fifth floor. In and out in 15 min.

Your passport will go from one desk to another

and be recorded in a big book, and you’ll pay

your 1900 baht and your done. Don’t forget

when you fill out your departure card your

visa number will change to the one you

receive that day when you extend.

I followed the 35 fantastic HDR photos link. Wow. Makes you want to do HDR 24/7.

One of the challanges of digital photograhy these days is storage space....now the

problem is growing quicker with all these photos waiting to be processed to HDR.

One of my friends in the states has a 10TB RAID setup. A thing of beauty.

Hmm wish I could maybe meet up and see how to do it and what the settings really do with HDR as this is groundbreaking stuff for me, never been doing it before.

I can understand that photoshop is really nice to use as it's so easy to go back and do what you want later on, remove or add layers and everything. But I am not comfortable with HDR in photoshop at all.

Same camera, do you also find that shooting (non HDR) it's better to shoot in -0.7 ev and if that is a tad to dark just lighten it after than shooting in 0 ev? Or is this just me?

You know the original intent of multiple incremental exposures was to come away with the

perfect shot and now that HDR is the rage many cameras don’t have the range or number of

exposures needed to do justice to HDR. Im sure future firmware updates of our camera

will address this. By the way make sure you go to the Canon website and get the latest

firmware update. Just PM me before you will be around Bangkok, It’ll be great to meet

you and talk shop. My wife will be the one with the camera, she has the passion and

her own unique style.

That may have some validity Pooklook. I prefer to use the "earning power' rule. Under your idea, an uneducated simpleton would receive the same as a highly functioning, educated professional.

As part of my previous life, I decided on salaries in organizations. We used comparators to decide salary levels. We compared secretaries to other secretaries with similar duties and responsibilities to arrive at a salary structure for that class. Same as more professional classes, we would compare engineers to other engineers with similar duties and functions and arrive at a salary for them.

It doesn't make sense to offer equal funds to bar girls who have no education for example, to professional schoolteachers who worked hard to improve themselves.

So I use the earning power of schoolteachers to arrive at a fair monthly stipend for them, and what an ex-bargirl could earn, as her monthly stipend. In the case of the latter, she could maybe qualify for a job AT Big C or Tesco, and earn 5,000 a month. Why would I pay her over 20,000 a month....doesn't make sense to me.

Yes Ferwert my formula was meant to be a starting point to broach a very

sensitive subject so out of an abundance of caution I believe a dual pronged

approach is in order. If you can get the parties involved to agree to online binding arbitration,

we might be able to arrive at an acceptable level of compensation. Additionally relationship

counseling may be in order. I’ve indentified some initial areas of concern below.

•Culture shock – that somehow love and money are linked

•Inhibitions – that shyness caused the young lady to wait for years to ask for the 30K

•Expat denial – the willingness to redefine love, sex and money

Bard I believe Pseudo HDR is still best done with CS4. I have did 6 part 400 MB tiffs.......

You can change so many things before you put them in the CS4 digital blender

It would be great to show if the internet in LOS were fast enough.

As far as HDR Photomatix Pro 3.2 is growing on me.

I have a couple of printers with CIS (continious ink supply) and my own Matt cutter

and frames so I do a lot of that stuff in my spare time. HDR in Photomatix can create

a highly marketable product. CS4 pseudo is also highly marketable because you can

revisit some of your favorite shots from days gone by and enhance the look.

I've had a mJ for ~ 11 months. In general I get ~ 50% call completion and ~ 25% of those (so ~ 12.5% of total inititiated calls) are acceptable. I have access to two (2) excellent DSL providers here, and always check speeds before making a call. I also test my set-up by calling my mobile number in the U.S. and listen to my voice-mail. I've had all the updates and have done a lot of research/trouble-shooting trying to improve call completion and quality. I (tryu to) use the unit on two different PC's.

Having said all that it has still proven to be highly-cost effective, especially when grinding through 8xx menues and long wait times for a CSR for my various requirements. When it works it is great.

I'd like to renew, but just for one year. I honestly haven't been able to locate that option on the mJ website; it seems like I am forced to the 5 year option only. Does anyone have a link to the one year option?

Plugins are available for Lightroom and Photoshop.

When you run them in Adobe environment it can slow your machine down.

I've been on magicjack for a year now and the quality of calls seem to be getting worse......clipped words, echos and lots of dropped calls. Can blame some of the problem on our [not so hi speed] internet, but I don't think the internet should get the full 90% of the blame.

Anyone else experiencing same with magicjack??

now, I am being prompted to pay for another years service, but am reluctant to unless they improve.

Since posting, I googled around and found a couple of quick fixes that may do the trick. Can't confirm untill tomorrow, as all my contacts are asleep now.

What they suggested was to change usb ports and you can adjust volume by the menu on MJ screen. will try it out tomorrow and see if it made any differnce and report.

Agree that lotsofproblems are caused by local internet [i'm in CM also], but I do speed checks and speed is up when call drops oris bad quality.

What really got me was when a mail order firm made a costly mistake on anorder and her excuse was bad connection.

Here it is, next day after tweaking my volume controls and changing usb ports and made a couple of calls and same same. Then changed phones as suggested and tried a couple of calls and same same. Then used skype and got a good, loud and clear signal.

I understand jaideeguy. In the states I have a 10mbps connection and had the same voice clipping

quality problems I had to strain to hear the caller and repeat myself often. So many of my calls

ended when the recipient just gave up and said call me back on a real line. All you have to do is

Google magicjack problems………Many people (not everyone} are having the same problems.

So you me and many others spend hours trying to get this thing to work as advertized

and finally one day we give up try and uninstall and there is ………NO UNINSTALL…………

Google uninstall magic jack and you’ll begin to see everything they do to you computer and what it

takes to completely remove it and all the changes it makes to your registry…..

Once your data???? and certain other information ( what could that mean??) is provided (sold) to a third party in another country(wow!!)

Have you ever read the user agreement for Magicjack, and the terms you are agreeing too? It does many things most people would never want, like reporting all your calls, phone numbers, etc, back to the Magicjack central server. They make their money by selling your information. Also the way the jack installs software on your system is not something I would want, no uninstall program.

Magicjack clones itself to parts of your operating system, even if you stop using it, the program is still within your computer. It also has been know to slow down operating systems. While some may like it, you get what you pay for. Magicjack is not for me.

In the Terms of Service you agree for them to know about every web site, email, and phone number you use. You agree to have all of your information resold to third parties. There is no Uninstall for this program. To uninstall the software requires multiple Windows Registry edits and the removal of several folders on the Windows system. If you just stop using MJ it will continue to gather your information. If you want to attempt to improve call quality it is possible to change servers in the softphone by making the default one unavailable. As it becomes oversold and overloaded due to mass marketing this is about the only option to improve quality since customer service is so poor.

SCAM ALERT - I tried to withdraw 4 times at UOB the other day - it cancelled the transactions saying insufficeint funds - i checked my statement and it took the money all 4 times and charged me 150 bt each time.

My mate just tried to get 20k from BKK Bank at a 7/11 and same thing has happened , now he is stuck on holiday in Udon with no money and the banks are shut !

Clearly they are just after getting the 150 baht fee as many times as possible.

I thought that UOB were not charging the 150 Baht fee,I used them on the 28th and there was no fee.

I used UOB two days ago and NO FEE
