  1. In the meantime, if you have an Android smartphone, try this:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.tvremote&hl=en

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it doesn't work. Netgear also has several apps that run on Android. Unfortunately they require that Tv , the NeoTV box and the phone all be on the same wi-fi network but you must have a NeoTV Prime remote to get the NeoTV box on the wi-fi. The Netgear person who wrote the app is working with me to try to get the NeoTV box on wi-fi without a real NeoTV Prime remote control.

  3. Welcome home to the terrorists and arsonists. They claimed they wanted early elections. They won them, then threw it away. Then they burned Bangkok. Good job reds!

Nothing like tarring them all with the same brush for the actions of a sad misguided few who hopefully will pay for their dreadful actions.

Nevertheless, looks like they are going to get those elections in the not too distant future.

Hopefully now Jingthing will go away and find someone else to call names an villify. Thailand has had to put up with all this hatred for too long now. I ask, if jingthing really cares about ordinary Thais and the reputation of Thailand, to re-direct all the hatred and name calling and do something positiveto help Thais and Thailand. This government has pitifully underfunded secondary schools. Maybe jingthing can do something positive and volunteer at a nearby school, if he or she has some expertise that would be helpful in the education of Thai students. Maybe Jingthing might also open the wallet and pledge a donation for a local school to hire a new teacher for a 1-2 years or improve the school facilities to improve Thai students opportunites to learn. It is far better to participate in improving the education for Thais than to complain about them being uneducated.

  4. If Abhisit was the honorable person that The Nation claims he would never have become PM but would have demanded that a national referendum be held so that the citizens of Thailand could select the kind of leader the want. By not doing the honorable thing his legacy will always be that he accpted the illegitimacy by having his fate determined by a judicial ruling. Having put himself in that position he then has tried to hold on to his illegitimate power by disgracefully using the power of the Thai Army to kill the citizens they are paid to protect. What has he done for Thailand? The poor in Thailand still have no posssibility of improving their lives. The rest of the world thinks the Thai government is a joke and ignores its media request to do this or do that. Many countries have warned their citizens that Thailand is not safe. Hopefully the 3 or 4 government people who were in the media directing this shame will have to answer for their actions.

Let hope that Thailand will be allowed to have an fair election to choose their leader without the interference of the courts, the Army, the puppet media and the government so that Thai citizens will be accorded their human rights.

  5. Every time I hear that the poor are left behind with democracy in a same sentence I start laughing since they are oxymoron. If they want to carry the poor by the rest of the society then you need to have communism or socialism government.

As we know both do not work in globalizes world. The poor have to realize they cannot continue to get handout from the middle and high class. They need to work to develop themselves and the best is to invest in their children education. But over her that is the last thing of the Thai poor in particular the Red Shirt that they think about. They brought their children to the rally site, endangering them. It seem over here the children are commodities, and can be used as the family pleases.

So Mr./Mrs. Red Shirt you want equality, become educated and work hard for it. No one is willing to give handout for ever

It is really interesting that I see people who claim to be soo knowledgeable here in TV speaking disrespectfully to Thai who have not been give a chance to get a better education form the government. In this day and age most civilized people view the right to an education as a human right. If the people like yourself have so much disrespect for the uneducated poor in Thailand it would be far more productive is you were make an effort the demand that the Thai government guarantee a good education for all its citizens instead of trying to make yourself superior by demeaning the poor and uneducated by calling them names. Try helping the Thai people not tear them down. On numerous occasions you have been asked to stick to a topic and stop your rants and name calling. We could allhave a better discourse if Everyone was asked to adhere to these curtesies.

    Regards,

  6. The good people of Thailand do not deserve the viciousness of Thaksin's red horde. May they all rot.

Wrong SomTum...! The good, honest and disenfranchised citizens of Thailand do not deserve being trampled and killed by the very Army that is paid to protect them.

When a legitimate government, elected by the citizens of Thailand, returns the country to the people then the old guard of the Army should be retired and a new generation should begin to restore the integrity of the Army.

Your rants and name calling have nomeaning.

  7. Now we're talking. Contrary to corruption charges, a lot of countries have the legal framework to arrest and extradite people wanted on terrorism charges. Thaksin can at least say bye bye to any first-world country for the foreseeable future - and maybe with a bit of luck see the inside of a jail cell very soon.

Strange request from DSI. What are the terrorist charges? DSI didn't say. Normally you would expect to see the charges. This has been the problem with this government. They always makes charges without stating evidence to support them. That is the biggest reason other countries are just ignoring anything they say. This kind of charge is just another reason that leads other countries' leaders to conclude this government is a joke. It would really be surprising if they even got any response for other countries.

Rant as the rabid folks here might be, legitimate countries and governments will want to keep their self respect.

  8. I would have called an early election :-)

Abhisit offered that to the reds. They rejected it.

    Actualy he withdrew the offer

One of the conditions was for them to end their protest. They rejected it when they continued their protest, so it was taken off the table.

All of the speculation is over. There is a public record and timeline available. The government will now have to face their own words and actions. All the opinions, false claims, threats of the pundits here on TV have no meaning.

  9. All the reds: time to shut up now you terrorists losers, I just wish they take the IP address of every red sympathizer farang and deport him! red farangs OUT OF THAILAND NOW !

Now that's what I call democracy!

OK Loud Mouth, Please feel free to get my IP address and you can come take care of me yourself. You are a loud mouthed nobody. Sorry you have missed out on chasing your bar girls for the last few weeks and sitting around and getting sloppy drunk. But you obviously have no idea what is happening in Thailand and have no mind to even try to understand it.

You are a brown stain on the Farang community. Do us all a favor and and go stick you nose back in the bottle.

    Hear Hear farfetched!!

At this point there are no winners. The Country of Thailand and its people are the losers. History has shown that the batle may have been lost by the opposition but the politicians who used the Army against the people of Thailand will eventually have to face the world for this violation of human rights. The politician may have been able to manipulate the media but that will be their downfall as investigator will have a treasure of evidence in the daily TV broadcast and print media full of politicians clearly stating their violations.

Pray for Thailand to recover and begin the international legal processes to incarcerate the government that has trampled on the human rights of the Thai citizens.

  10. I am happy those leaders came to their senses and did the right thing, both for their own followers and the other people of Thailand. I hope they get a fair trial and sentence.

Now this sets the stage for the politicians to face trial in the the Hague for using the Thai Army against Thai citizens. The killing orchestrated by the politicians will be avenged in the World Court now.

  11. If the PM does not crush the rebellion he will be criticized. If he does he will be vilified. He is in a no-win situation.

I'm glad we have such a good man in charge at a time like this. Look at some of the past PMs. Who knows what kind of bonehead will replace him?

I think there are probably at least 38 families of the men, women, and children killed who would disagree with your views. The man in charge has this blood on his hands.

I certainly wouldn't wish on your country.

  12. It IS nonsense. No one can trust their word anymore, because they keep stalling. They should have negotiated in good faith before things got hairy; they need to stand down, before things get even worse.

Agreed. The reds need to make a dramatic gesture to show their good faith now that they have totally darkened their name, even among previous supporters such as you. Best idea to the reds -- GO HOME. Then politely ask for early elections and pledge no more violence. Guess what? Abhisit will probably say yes.

Jing everyone would be better off if your PC were to fail. Both sides need to choose new leaders, who are not dead set on retaining their jobs. Get an independent international mediator. Lay out all the possible realistic alternatives and stop all this Go Home or kill them all message coming from radicals here on TV. Develop a workable plan to put in place a government that has the respect all ot the Thais.

Its clear that the current government can't be trusted some some method must be devised to elect a representative government.

  13. still waiting for your definition, which, as per usual when red apologists get asked something directly, will never come. Just hard to believe that there is no action the reds can take which is not defended by some on the forum. "it's okay to (invade hospital / shoot rpg at hotel / bring children into hot fire zone / set city on fire) because (we're too lazy to work our way out of poverty / there was yellows in the airport / a coup in 2006"). pathetic.

    Invade hospital yes and wrong

Shoot RPG at hotel . Any proof ? None

Bring children in hot fire zone . yes wrong

Set city on fire . A few tires yes , not city .

Shooting at civilians with live bullets : yes and wrong

Shooting 10 yo boy yes and wrong

Why dont you cut the BS and stick to facts

    Ummm

Set a city on fire -- FAR more than "a few tires" --- buildings, vehicles, molotovs thrown at troops and THREATS to burn it all down (that were issued even before the rally started)

RPG at hotel ----- hmmmm Reds control the area the RPG came from. Simply the prevarication of a red there!

"Civilians" is a misnomer. If you are actively participating in an armed insurgency (see the reports from the international press speaking of firefights .. prolonged firefights ... m79's etc)

Remember the child from the housing that was wounded when the reds hit it with THREE m79's --- THAT is targeting civilians. Shooting at people that are breaking the law and have been warned ... that isn't.

The 10y/o getting killed is TRAGIC but the troops were not wrong. The kid wasn't targetted and the troops were under attack by a vehicle.

More defintions from JD in CM! I must run off and get me a new pen and ink so I can pen it. I already have quite a collection. Maybe I'll drop them off at the book store in CM.

  14. Would you call that boy looking over the tyres a human shield.I suggest you print something factual. My thioughts would have been,he is showing the boy to the soldiers to show that he is there.

    NOW

If someone had said the boy should not be there i would have agreed but dont spout crap on here

Carrying a child to a barricade where you are likely to encounter violence and then showing the child IS using the child as a human shield. The child shouldn't be there and the parents should be tried for negligence! If the troops take fire from that area they are now faced with the moral quandry --- return fire knowing a child is there or accept the fire!

Mixing in non-combatants with combatants is the very definition of using human shields.

Since you like to quote definitions, what do you call someone that shoots in the back of the head and kills a person while that person is sitting in the open giving an interview to an internatiaonal reporter?

  15. Could be jumping to conclusions. Army declared they were not going to infiltrate, only close off. The rest is only a guess?

Didnt do much of a job of closing off.

Not just a guess actually. Earlier in the thread I suggested that the army should disarm before entering the encampment and, as I thought it was a good idea, I rang someone close to the Government. He said 'the military will never accept it, Abhisit does not control the military and they are pursuing their own agenda.' He also said you can see 'the military are shooting Thais while achieving nothing and that is not good either in the eyes of Thais or internationally.' He also said the 'police and military are corrupt to their very core.'

So yes there is quite a lot of guessing in there. But I know Abhisit is committed to reducing the influence of the army in Thai politics. Also remember there is the army reshuffle coming up and he wanted to replace the coup's constitution. There are some 3500 people at the encampment do you think the Thai army cant contain them when they can execute a coup in three hours.

So yes quite a lot of guesswork but it all seems to add up to me.

So it isnt hard to believe they are manipulating this protest - in fact it must be harder to believe they apparently cant contain it. Cutting the military budget and revising the constitution as well as having a say in the army reshuffle, I dont think would go down well. Thaksin got kicked out for mucking about with the reshuffle.

If you really believe Abhisit is interested in getting the Army out of politics, then please tell me why he has not used the police in this protest and let the Army do its job of protecting the country from outside dangers like from Burma or Cambodia.

  16. Indeed Jerry if you are such an oracle and so well connected why hasn't your wisdom been more apparent in your posts ?.

I too could name drop but I see no reason to do so, in my twenty years here I have made some very influential friends however I do not canvass their opinions or ask them for favours.

You must be so close according to your post yet you have to make a guess as to Chavalits motives for visiting China.

    His doorman are you ?

First thanks for your flaming comments on my wisdom. I try to respect everybody including you.

Back to the contents: No, I am not his doorman. Several years ago, I have been working in an Administration in which he was also involved and I have been in touch few times. Since I have no more contact. He is not a coward and he has some personal connections in China which can be of some help: I do know that and I do respect him. So, my guess is that he try to get some support. I have replied to a twisted post supporting the idea he was fleeing...Not his style.

I am amazed that you do the crap of dropping names and then have the gall to whine that you are flamed. You certainly have a lot of gall but your name dropping drives your credibility to zero. Now everyone is sure that nothing you say is factual.

  17. Passon, you keep talking about a 'peaceful solution' maybe you didn't hear the government did offer parliment dissolution and for fresh elections, in return for the red shirts to end their protest. This in my opinion would have been a 'peaceful solution' but the red's rejected this offer, wanting more. The government tried to negotiate, the red's won't negotiate, so what, give the red's all they want?

    I agree with iciparis.

Where was the negotiation part? I recall that the PM said on TV you have 1 day then 2 days ... to accept and leave protest area or we'll send the Army in to close you down. Then the promise of Nov. 14 election was retracted. Doesn't sound anything like a negotiation to me. Sounds more like a threat. In fact PM stated several times on TV his actions were to FORCE the opposition protestors to agree unconditionally with his offer.

The current goverment is not a credible negotiation partner anymore. Some new leaders need to replace them and then hopefully a meaningful negotiation can occur to resolve difference.

  18. With the red flags displayed around town, there seems to be a large following, but the flags seem to be on vehicles whose drivers are employed and making a living. I figure the deadbeats are down south collecting what they can, as I noted before the purse snatching, etc seem to have decreased (as far as news reports) since the call to Bangkok. Just hope CM stays this way, even the police are noticed, by their absence on the moat (helmet, papers checks)

If you have such a low opinion of Thais, there are planes that leave CM everyday that could take you back to your home country. Just think, you wouldn't have to gripe about visa runs or impolite immigration anymore. We'd be happy also.

  19. Or you could just open up a Webster's dictionary ...

    Main Entry: name–call·ing

    Pronunciation: \ˈnām-ˌkȯ-liŋ\

    Function: noun

    Date: 1853

: the use of offensive names especially to win an argument or to induce rejection or condemnation (as of a person or project) without objective consideration of the facts

Thank you. Now that you know what name calling is for the rest of us. Please try to refrain from came calling. Are we on the same page?

  20. According to international news, the government is sending the Thai Red Cross into the mob's encampment tomorrow to try and convince women, children and anyone who want's to t leave - can't say fairer than that. Those who remain will have to accept the consequences.

There is no way anyone in his right mind can blame the government for any deaths after so much effort.

Get out, go home or ..........

actually I don't understand 'it is tomorrow' and why it is not TODAY ?

I think the reason is that they have been increasing the pressure over the last few day's hoping to persuade more people to realize that if they stay, they will get hurt or die. Tomorrow will be the last attempt to remove as many as possible and than, serious action will follow shortly

If, as you say, "the government is sending the Thai Red Cross into the mob's encampment", I would be very disappointed in the International Red Cross. I am hopeful that the Red Cross has requested permission to visit the encampment to enquire as to the well being of the protesters and offer them assistance. The International Red Cross is an independent organization and NO governement has the right to SEND them anyplace.

  21. Why is it some people cannot respond to a post they disagree with without name calling? Do they not realize it will almost surely result in a suspension? Reminds of this illegal red mob who just keep shooting themselves in the foot in terms of having any of their grievances heard ... if they have any real ones beyond house dissolution.

oic You strictly observe your own warning! Are you exempt from you own rule?

Quoted from your post " illegal red mob "

    LOL!

    Hmmmm

    1) Illegal --- under the law the gathering is not legal.

    2) Red --- they declare they are redshirts

    3) Mob --- This has been used by the Thai newspapers from day one. They are not organized and have no command and control. They are a mob.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me!

Seems you don't comply with jc's rule either. Please note that I neither endorsed or disagreed with any of the names you folks have chosen to label people with. A little testy up there in CM? Maybe the two of you should get together and get your definition of name calling put in next year's dictionary. By the way, I think lots of TV forum posters must be watching satellite TV these days. It looks like the phrase "Day1 and Day one" being so often repeated there in the last 2 weeks has found its way in the forums. So much for originality here.

  22. Is there a point in there somewhere?Stop making silly excuses. Time for some real leaders take over to stop this insanity and think about the people they are klilling.Saying we can't stop now is stupid. Can't anyone see the need to think outside the box?

excellent!! i'm so glad you agree with me.

    no more silly excuses.

time to stop this insanity........end the protest.

think about the people they are killing.......let the women and children go home, stop attacking the soldiers.

yes, let's stop now.....yes, we can!!!

Does the use of white space in your post imply your power. Let me see if I understand you. Your idea on how to resolve a dispute between two parties is for them to allow you to dictate what they must do?

Just exactly how does that reach an agreement? Resolving a dispute usually involves reaching some kind of agreement between the disputing parties. Oh! That is except in a dictatorship.

Are you implying that you want to be the dictator?

My dear James, you hit the nail on the head with "Your idea on how to resolve a dispute between two parties is for them to allow you to dictate what they must do?"

That is EXACTLY what the reds have been doing since day1.

Got your point! I'll just put you contribution in the category of never mind. No chance of thinking outside the box there.
