  1. Plenty of wetv staff at the Chiangmai FC game today. Had a little booth, but price was 350; their old channel line up. Asked in guy and said new box 1800 baht. But not ready til next month. I'd get a dish if I were you!

  2. Note: wouldn't bother with favourites list as when there is a power cut it deletes all the saved channels!!!!! I sure as hell can't be bothered to go through that again. Most I watch are HD, a few such as bio, C.I, universal will just flick through main menu. TV guide I tad annoying. Not updated, but most annoying thing is when you flick through to see what's on it changes the channel! Hey ho, simple things really that I can manage without. As long as footy in english, which I think it will be, then I'm happy. Will also be happier if we retain John dykes and co. with this being supplier by EPL tv I hope we will.

  3. Wetv seemed unsure as to the system. They were still doing tests last week and advised these will go on for a month to a month and a half. I went with the dish option to be sure I'd be ready for kick off.

  4. Call CTH first, see if your area is already serviced by their cable network. If not, then it won't hurt to go on the waiting list. Then google search for a local satellite dealer in your area. They may already have been made a partner. If they have it'll be pretty quick to get sorted. Only a couple up here in Chiangmai and I can tell you they took some bloody finding!!!!

  5. You should try and find an independent satellite co. in your area. That's what I did last week and was up and running in a few days. I have to say the channel line up is better than true. Love the Nat Geo channels they've got. Fox fx shows some pretty good recent shows. Bio and C.i also have some good documentaries. Lots of other sports available on fox and star too. News channels are also a breath if fresh air.

  6. Khonyaijen, do you also have to pay 2mths up front in 15 days? 1961bht, on top of the 4200bht installation/rental charge? On the typed out bill it includes 2mths, but tech guy wrote that figure in pen! I'm confused!

  7. Has anyone had issues with picture quality since this morning (Monday)? Not affected by rain but picture keeps going all pixley. I think they may have to come and give the dish a nudge, just wondered if it was a CTH issue, or at my end.

  8. Went into the second sat shop after Big C on the Hang Dong road heading towards Hang Dong today and they have the boxes in stock and they currently have 24 hour queue, whatever that means. They told me if you pay monthly (899 Baht) you have a connection/rental charge of 4258 Baht. They also have different packages based on 1 year subscription 11938 Baht. 2 year 19114 Baht and 3 year 24886 Baht all subscriptions payable up front. It means the final option works out at 599 Baht a month.

that's exactly what I paid on Saturday... But in 15 days I have to pay 1961 (2 months up front for some reason). Things will be a lot easier when call centre staff speak english.
  9. Yes all sorted. BtRs technology was the company. They also fitted another dish so I can watch GMM. Including that came to 4000bht to fit it all. You have to also pay 2months upfront, but I have 15days to do that. It's KU band with internal encryption box. I can onto I their number if you want?

  10. I think the big game changer was selling the rights as a region including Laos (CTH done a deal with Laos star) and Cambodia. Difficult to predict these let value after 6 years of just Thailand.

  11. Looks like I'm on the way to being sorted. Found a technician who is coming Saturday afternoon to fit. Problem for some condo occupants in Chiangmai is that if your room room faces Doi Suthep, the dish needs to be pointing in the opposite direction. I've managed to talk my condo into letting me fit it on top of the roof. Others might not be quite so accommodating!
