CTH call centre staff leaves a lot to be desired. Thought I had a call from them today ( turned out it was AIS ) line went dead, so called back. First operator cut me off, 2nd was plain rude saying must wait must wait!!! 3rd the girl actually checked my details to see if someone had called. She advised a long que and gonna be a month til connected. She promised before football starts, but I suppose she's been told to say that.

Just called shop on 2nd ring road they don't know anything about it, nor do they have any CTH equipment. Girl was helpful though she says they know someone who does do CTH and will pass my number onto them to call me back. Maybe that was who fitted your dish today. If you do find the contact details I'd appreciate it.

Well done genesis!!! First report of someone actually being fitted! Who did you use to get sorted? Was it CTH office in BKK, Or local satellite company? Was 1930bht installation including box deposit or extra?

Was that a 2 year deal up front payment? As in get 3rd year for free deal? Or was it just minimum length of contract? No one mentioned that to me when I rang the other day. It did say on website minimum contract 12mths. If cal early 2000bht fee. Check the FAQ link and throw that at them. A lot of these call centre staff probably on commission.

Local shop rang yesterday about CTH so i popped in today, unfortunately the lady speaks minimal english.

Basicly nothing made sense ! she showed me a price list that she claims she got from CTH where the figs didn't add up and the total came too 8,224 baht, after me querying she rang CTH and come back with 5,300 baht, she then showed me a contract that didn't have any figs on it at all.

Anyway she gave me directions too another shop that already has CTH set up so hopefully i will pop in there tomorrow to investiagte further.

The whole initial set up cost for single point shouldn't come to more than 3400 by my calculations! 1800box dep + 200 admin + 500 installation + 899 first payment up front (if needed). Gonna be some angry folk out there if private satellite shops start taking advantage of situation!

Ok guys, looking unlikely WETV gonna be ready in time according to a friend of mine there. Gonna take about a month - a month and a half before the CTH signal and box roll out is ready. Satellite now looking best option. I've noticed a few more TOT service trucks doing things around town recently. Don't know if that has anything to do with their new service. It also looks like WETV will run two systems. The existing analogue service and the CTH channels via a HD box.

H&H, you should check the CTH website and google translate it, I don't think the prices you're being quoted are correct. 1800bht for box deposit is right. 500bht for installation, free if you pay for 18mths or 2 years in advance. I'm pretty sure it's just 200bht p/m extra for a 2nd box. You shouldnt be losing 1700bht.

I'm guessing that they will offer partnerships to satellite shops. No sign of a CTH shop appearing in Chiangmai yet. You can pay your bill at 7/11 and Bangkok bank + a few other outlets according to there FAQ's section on their website.

GMM also have fox sports now. Rugby is also available online via sentanta Asia website. Can't remember how much though.

I'm hedging my bets in all places possible at the moment. On the waiting list for the satellite shop in Samkampeng, WETV have my details too. Around the end of May, beginning of June phoned CTH, they took my details, Also covered bases by doing this on their website. Phoned their new call centre today; 1619 and they had no info of me registering whatsoever. No worries, she took my details again. Sounded more like a call centre than the last time I called, with lots of operators babbling away in the background. I didn't bother asking to speak to someone in English and managed to do it all in Thai. The girl I spoke to advised that cable and satellite available in Chiangmai, she did say going the satellite route would be quicker. I said I don't care which, as long as it's done in time for the first game. She advised I'll get a call back in 2-3 weeks. Gonna give it till 17th July now, exactly one month before season starts before I follow up with anyone now.

Sounds a mess! I suspect Aljazeera will step in though. Keys and Gray did the punditry for them last season.

I'll eat my collection of football strips if TRUE SPORT channels show any EPL! Just makes no business sense whatsoever to buy transponder space on Vinasat and have own boxes and dishes made and branded, to then go into partnership with TRUE.

I went into the CTH agents shop on Pattaya Tai yesterday. He said satellite boxes are due to be delivered at the start of July. We've signed up for CTH via satellite, which included free installation in 2 rooms. Dish due to be installed after the weekend and the box once it arrives, hopefully in 10 days or so.

if this is anything to go by it might give us an idea as to when things could be ready in Chiangmai.

There is no C-band. CTH satellite is KU-band only. TOT already have their own iptv service. This is provided via TOT's fibre optic cable lines, which I believe is a different system used for bog standard Internet and the one that will be adopted for CTH. Maybe that's why they're testing it, if that's not the case then it's satellite all the way for me.

They are going to use a different system for CTH boxes. That's why it's being tested now. I believe there will be HD channels; all 6 EPL channels will be in HD. I think they are using TOT to supply the signal.
