  1. From football forum, seems to confirm my idea that WETV won't be running CTH's operations in Chiangmai if what this guy in Udon Thani said is true.

"Just as a further report on the CTH boxes, went into Home Cable in Udonthani and they gave me a brochure stating that if you are an existing cable customer the first box is free and any other you want is 1800 baht. As far as I could make out talking to the staff via my wife, you can't buy the receivers yet and it should ? be available for out of towners via satellite, all will be revealed by June 21st if they are true (sorry for the pun) to their word.."

  2. Check out the football forum for latest on CTH EPL deal. I don't think they'll be any problems. 899 p/m 380 games, less if you want less games. Decent entertainment package included in that too. I think they've done a deal with TOT to distribute the signal. Also available on Vinasat 2, which makes sense as they also have the rights for Laos and Cambodia. I don't think there is a big infrastructure for cable TV there yet.

Official announcement expected around 16th - 20th June. New CTH service goes live 21st June. If WETV haven't sorted it yet to be a CTH partner, then I think someone else will be doing it in Chiangmai. there were issues with independent cable operators coming under CTH's umbrella due to having to disclose all customer records and billing to them + 25% subs fee.

  3. The deal to watch EPL prices is set by CTH. Although other cable providers will handle this, the packages cannot be altered by them. You do gave a point about launch date. May be later in some areas, but they have almost 3 months to sort this, so suspect most will be sorted by the start of next season.... Hopefully!

  4. It appears that CTH will have Fox sports and Fox sports plus HD as well as Fox sports news. 500 bht for minimum package which gives you one match a month apparently! 899 bht for all 380, as I previously mentioned

  5. Err... yes, willing to take bets, how much? New service will be active from 21st June. I've been told two dates when service details are to be announced 16th and 20th.

I know they are launching channels via satellite for Laos and Cambodia, as yet there is no cable infrastructure there. Only makes sense that those unable to access CTH service via TOT fiber optic cable can do so via a dish.

  6. New content CTH-Fox tie up...

CTH yesterday announced a partnership to carry 24 of Fox's channels on its pay-TV platform, starting from next month.

Among the channels covered by the deal are Nat Geo Adventure HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, Nat Geo Music, Fox Action Movies, Star Chinese Movie, Channel M, Fox Thai, Fox Crime, FX HD, Starworld, Fox Sports News, Channel V HD, Fox News, Sky News HD and Baby TV.

  7. Won't be on fox sports I think. I don't think CTH have a deal that includes fox sports in there line up yet. 15 channels will be introduced this year. One is fox sports news. Another 9 next year. Perhaps waiting for an exclusivity agreement to run out before they can add this channel. Shame True and CTH can't get together to share EPL and UCL matches.

  8. No idea about 2nd box prices. I'm sure they will have something for this though. Don't think it's gonna be as bigger headache as many predicted about the change of rights. Only slight pain in the arse is Champions league coverage. Some games on Thai TV, but from QF stage onwards these were few and far between. All on at 2am anyhow, so probably not gonna watch too many anyway. If I do, will have to be an internet jobbie. Although fingers crossed WETV in Chiangmai will keep the Vietnam sport channels, as I noticed they showed the bigger games from the K.O stage, instead of Malaga against Porto, which was on Thai TV!

  9. My aircon packed up on my old Ford Festiva today. Took it to the garage on Nimanhemin soi 15. Seem a decent lot. Checked air and still had plenty of gas left in it. Fuses seem all in check, so they reckon it's an electrical problem related to the relay or switch, as they were about to close they asked me to come back tmrw.

Has anyone had any experience with this garage, or this problem? Wondering how much it might set me back. if anyone knows of a better garage I would appreciate any recommendations.

    Thanks.

  10. Check out the thread on the football forum. In a nutshell CTH have the rights from next season. I believe they have done a deal with TOT to use their fiber optic network to distribute their service. People have found their channels on Vinasat 2. This makes sense, as they also have rights for Cambodia and Laos. I imagine they will use satellite distribution also in Thailand for those that can't access via TOT. Probably a temporary measure, because they want to utilise their cable network for interactive services and home shopping.

I read today all 380 game + entertainment package will be 899 bht per mth including VAT. They have also done a deal with Fox to include 24 of their channels. Various movie channels, entertainment, as well as Fox sport news, the amazing Fox news and Sky news.

  11. I'm hearing it's gonna be 899 bht including VAT for all 380 games. this includes all other entertainment channels too I believe. Not sure yet on how they will serve the content. If/when I do, I'll post here. For sure we'll know by 20th June.

  12. Slightly off topic, but CTH has secured rights for 24 of fox international channel network, several Nat geo channels, music channels, star world, sky news, fox sports news etc... Seems a better entertainment offer than what true offer. Still looking at 800bht aprx a month for these channels (plus others) and all EPL games.

  13. It'll be on CTH, who are a collection of local cable companies nationwide. They are concluding a deal to use TOT's fibre optic network so all can get access. We should know more by end of June, as TRUE's deal expires then and CTH will have rebranded themselves and announced their price structure. I think we'll be looking at 800bht p/m for entertainment package and all 380 games, less if you want less games.

  14. As has been reported in the press CTH signed the contract with The EPL last week. They will relaunch their brand and start selling EPL packages in June once True's deal expires.

I think the risk of blank screens has diminished somewhat, as they have now got the majority of independent cable operators on board now.

Only possible fly in the ointment is that the amount of HD channels could be limited initially, as they haven't completed a deal with TOT to use their fibre optic network. Out in the sticks you may have to wait for HD but in major cities I think this won't be a problem. They have rights to all 380 matches. If you want the lot this will be around 800bht max inc entertainment package. It's cheaper if you want less matches.

Murdoch is keen to invest in CTH and was present when they signed the deal with The EPL.
