  1. To all posters who love to bitch about Thai on line systems. I have just spent 5 days trying to fill in an online form to a major bank in America. Finally bit the bullet and called customer support. After walking me through the steps with no success the support asked me which browser I was using. When I replied Firefox he then told me that their online site only works with Microsoft Edge or Chrome.
  2. I have used the online system lots of time with success. Six months ago I was rejected. I had just changed to a new telephone number and had inserted the new number. Reapplied using old number and was approved.
  3. From UK Autocar magazine. Hot hatch creates sensation. The result is that Toyota UK now has filled its GR Yaris order allocations for both this year and next. Additional cars will come to the UK in the future. However, customers will need to reserve one. Toyota will open the GR Yaris 2024 waiting list, available through dealers, on 12 July.
  4. Reading this reminds my of my wife's Volvo 960. Using the fob opens all doors and boot. Using the non fob key only opens the individual lock. I assume previously your key did open all doors. Have you tried resetting the fob ? Below is the reset for a 2010 Izuzu Adverturer so no guarantee it is the same so check your handbook. Instructions 1.... Enter the vehicle, close all doors and insert the key into the ignition. 2 ...Turn the key to the "on" position, then press and hold the "lock" button on the remote transmitter for 1 second. Release the "lock" button, then turn the key to the "off" position. Repeat all the tasks in this step two additional times. 3 ….Turn the key to the "on" position, then press and hold the "lock" button on the remote transmitter for 1 second. The door locks will lock and unlock indicating the vehicle has entered remote programming mode. If the door locks do not cycle, repeat all steps to enter the programming mode. 4.... Press and hold the "lock" button on the transmitter for 1 second to program it. If programming is successful, the door locks of the vehicle will cycle. Repeat this procedure for each additional transmitter to be programmed, including older working transmitters. Three remote transmitters can be programmed and each must be programmed within 10 seconds of the other transmitters. 5 ...Turn the key to the "off" position to exit programming mode. Remove the key, exit the vehicle and close all doors. Test each transmitter by locking and unlocking the doors.
  5. Better to use this style of extractor.
  6. My boarding card story. Arrived at BKK and the first immigration hall was heaving. Did the old trick and went to check out the other hall. Still busy but waiting anyway. Got to the desk to be refused service and informed that on my flight, the passengers had to use the other hall.
  7. This headline filled me with excitement, what could it mean? Perhaps they will bring in the Yaris GR sport as CKD so prices will be more reasonable. Perhaps the limited edition 2 door Altis with the 2 litre supercharged engine. Or even the V6 3 litre turbocharged Camry. But no, only some cosmetically altered run of the mill cars. The Camry will have black mirrors, wow, must run down to the showroom. All cars will be white except for a limited run that will have a grey wrap. Hope it is not a light grey wrap that will make the cars look like they have been finished in primer.

  9. The Bodger is not solely to blame. Most of the passport debacle rests with the top hatted clown from the 1860 party, who decided to put a notice on everyone's desk, who was working from home, that if they did not return they would be fired.
  10. My wife's cousin was going to bid on a car at auction. Luckily he used the 100 baht registration checking service provided by the auction house. He discovered that 30,000 baht in fines were outstanding, and if he won the bid, before he could register the car in his name the fines would have to be paid.
  11. Uses of imported milk powder from the Thai department of agriculture. 32% in the manufacture of sweetened and condensed milk. 42% in the manufacture of infant milk powder, ice cream. 26% for UHT milk, yogurt, drinking yogurt. (These products can contain between 50% and 65% raw milk). From 2012 https://www.angrin.tlri.gov.tw/meeting/2013TaiTai/2013TaiTai03.pdf
  12. As of 30 June 22 all new EV home chargers installed in the UK must be smart internet connected. They must be preset to limit charging output during the morning (8 to 11) and (1600 to 2200) evening peak times. If the National grid detects a dropping of power available, the EV chargers will be set to reduce output further. There must also be a build in 30 minute delay on connecting to prevent spikes in demand. Regulations will come into effect to maximize power available to private multiple charge points, as in an apartment block parking lot for example. A ten point center will have maximum power available for five points. If more are in use a percentage drop will occur to each point. It appears that in an emergency you can contact the supplier and get the presets overridden. Interestingly by 2030 the UK forecasts it will need an additional 30% generating capacity just for EV's
  13. I have recounted a couple of stories on here from my chum in the UK running a MG Z EV. He has never got the quoted range in nearly 1 year of ownership. His last trip was 85 miles and he lost 120 miles of range.
  14. In the UK, as Joe Public can not use Tesla charge points but Tesla owners can use Joe Public charge points it has spawned a new type of road rage.
  15. According to Sky news. 5 million Brits have let their passport expire due to Covid travel restrictions. One million passport applications have been received in the last 10 days. Government has threatened to privatize HMPO so expect industrial action. The EU are changing UK passport requirements for entering EU to 3 months remaining on passport.
  16. I just talked to my golfing buddy as I know he renewed his UK passport. He went in person to Trendy, submitted his paperwork and had his passport returned. Three weeks later went to collect new passport. Was asked if he needed any of the submitted paperwork returned or destroyed. Was given new passport, old passport returned with corner cut off and letter to transfer stamps. Went to Rayong immigration was told that they do not transfer visas only entry stamp. Told to keep both passports together at all times. First exit, immigration wrote visa details in new passport and he had to do the bio-metrics. Leaves and returns to Thailand showing both passports. He has a non o multi entry.
  17. I consider the UK to be 5 years ahead of Thailand so UK problems now will be Thailand's problems in the future. Take a look at the number of charging stations in the UK on Zapp map compared to Thailand. My mate who sends me weekly reports, runs an MG ZS EV as a daily driver. He lives in a flat so can not charge from home. Trying to get a charging point on a Saturday or Sunday is nearly impossible. Don't even think of going to the UK seaside at the weekend and being able to charge while you visit. (Just think of all those EVs going to Pattaya and needing to find a charge point). You will have to charge before or after your visit. He recently drove to Glasgow from London in the middle of winter. Took 15 hours and five stops for charging. Regarding range remember that only a fool will let their charge drop below 20% and nobody charges above 80% due to the time required. The future in Thailand looks frightening when you have a government minister saying that all EVs have a 500 to 600 kilo range so only 40 to 50 charging stations are needed for the whole of Thailand.
  18. The ECU is not the originator of the mileage just an outlet for reading it. On most (but not all) vehicles the mileage is written to and stored on the L56 EEPROM chip situated on the instrument cluster PCB. This is how it is possible to obtain mileage readings from other sources which are communicating with the chip , ABS controllers etc. If you change the ECU the mileage will read the original. If you change the instrument cluster the ECU will read the new cluster mileage.
  19. The primary inquiry to Malaysian 737-800 losing altitude was due to an incorrect airspeed signal received by the auto pilot which disengaged. The plane lost approximately 2000 feet before the pilots took control. The plane losing 7000 feet/min was an account from a passenger. The crew did a controlled descent to, I think, 13000 feet and returned to KL flying the plane manually. The aircraft was flying through heavy turbulence at the time of the incident so a frozen up pitot static tube is suspected. Because Boeing don't want to re certify the cockpit of 737 the plane is one of the few aircraft flying where the the heat for the pitot must be manually turned on by a switch not done automatically.
  20. When I lived in Ban Chang I did all my drinking in Thai type bars and restaurants. A friend visited and wanted to see the strip which I had never frequented. I was used to paying 80 baht for a large Heineken. Imagine my surprise to be asked to pay 95 baht for a small Heineken in the strip. Never returned.
  21. Thanks guys. At least one problem is eliminated. As I mentioned I copied everything exactly from the last approval slip especially the address.
  22. My problem. I have been doing 90 day reports online for 3 years. Monday was the first using the new system. As the auto fill does not work on the new form I used my last approval to make sure all info was the same. I was rejected yesterday. The only thing I can see different is on the old system there is only an option for British in the nationality (or is it the passport) drop down menu. The new system has many different types of British options. I am using GBR- British. Is this the correct option.
  23. There have previously been three proven similar accident scenarios involving 737's. Hijacker entered cockpit and shot pilot and co-pilot Short circuit in wiring harness caused thrust reversers to deploy in mid flight. A wrongly assembled elevater servo motor jammed in the maximum nose down position. A major safety concern with the 737 class is that it still uses steel cables to activate the control surface hydraulic servo motors. Even the 737 max. This is termed a single point failure and is one of the few commercial aircraft to be certified with such. To refit the class with a two point of failure system ie. fly by wire, or double cable would have involved re certificating the fuselage.
  24. On another forum someone claims they received a 30 day medical extension from the visa department of (name removed) hospital located between Suk Soi 1 and 3. A fee was charged.
