Oh. You were lucky that your hip "warned" you about this problem. Could have easily resulted in a life-threatening hemorrhage somewhere else.

Siriraj is not cheap for foreigners. Government hospitals have double pricing. Their private arm has prices slightly (10%) cheaper than Bumrungrad. The public arm may very well charge almost the same prices if you are a foreigner. A recent example was 650,000 for aortic valve replacement for a destitute American (TGF paid), which in Bangkok Hospital would have cost 800,000.
-
There was a discussion in the local business community whether double pricing would be a good idea. The chamber of commerce (if I remember correctly) than published an official decision to double-price foreigners (there were no Chinese tourists at the time, foreigners were farang). Much later, they drove their point home to me when I was double-priced for a cone of ice-cream, it is as ridiculous as it is disgusting. I avoid that place, but I suspect that nowadays 7/11 doesn't have double pricing in Huahin. Wouldn't surprise me, though.
-
that's another nice one. They have a poor reputation inside BDMS (their parent). Which again may have to do with the culture of Huahin: decades of history towards farang (enshrined in an official document from the eighties), decades of sloppy medicine.

GF wants to take albendazole because her anus is itching. Mine has been itching for weeks, too. I would rather take tablets only after a stool exam. But that costs a couple of thousands and a whole day. Albendazole is just 35 baht and not really dangerous. But there are many regimens of albendazole, depending on which kind of worm. What kind of worms are Thais actually suspecting? How many days do they take albendazole? On the farm, they take it every 6 months. I am not going to do this, for sure.

Don't we learn on TV that all Thais are the same stupid and follow communal pressure, that's why they all wear a mask? But in the 7/11 they wouldn't know you are Thai, they would think "just another dirty farang as Anutin said" So you surreptiously make us non-Thais lose face...
-
Very unusual. Usually they will ask for a deposit of 50,000 or 80,000 baht, even if they know that the final bill will be much higher. I have once heard of a 500,000 baht deposit, never heard of more. Was it Bangkok Pattaya hospital? Due to the prevailing culture in this resort and due to their fine selection of clientele, they have less scruples.

Aren't you Thai? But they wouldn't know...

555 10 or 20 years ago? It's almost 150k now, not less than 100k If you are happy with the medical system of a middle-income country, 4m is way more than enough. Be sure you know what that means. If you want Western standards, dialysis more than in the UK, modern oncology, good ICU, the latest medicines, maybe even rehab....4m is hardly enough for a lifetime. The private hospitals who give you this standard are now more expensive than in Europe. Average lifetime medical costs there are about 200,000 € (7m baht). That's the average. I do know 2 guys who have very good insurance (1000 US per month) and who are way ahead already (one used just 3m just this year). They are not yet really old, and not less healthy than the average Pattaya expat. Medivac by Air Ambulace to Europe about 100,000 €, to US more. By commercial flight not less than 20,000

The list from FLCCC is dangerous. Ivermectin and HCQ are useless but may have side effects. Fluvoxamine is downright dangerous if you are not a doctor. Prednisone not much better.

Same here.

He means blood pressure will be too low. It may go down too much, too fast. Same effect if you are on blood pressure medication and take Cialis NB Grakcu isn't even cheaper than eg generic tadalafil or sildenafil in most countries (including Thailand). And with these, you at least know what you are taking.
-
That's correct. They can often still take it, but their regular medication may have to be modified or suspended, and the effects have to be monitored. That means supervision by a doctor, you cannot just give these patients a pack of Paxlovid and tell them just to take it. But there are many other patients. And it's the only medication that really works. 500 USD BTW is the official US price in the US medical system. Never compare US medical prices to anywhere else. Always divide by 5 or 10.

If it's that bad you can go to the hospital tomorrow. They can do x-rays, blood work, and they may be able to call your doctor in. That wouldn't be unusual in this kind of private hospital. And if they really think it's infected they can start antibiotics.
-
Yes. Most definitely.

You can call the hospital and ask for an ambulance. Cheaper: book a London taxi through their "cabb" app. Tell their call center about the problem. Once you arrive at the hospital, the hospital has a wheelchair for you. Usually free. At airports, you can ask for wheelchair assistance. Call your airline, it's free, but must be booked in advance. Ask for WCHS, not only WCHR. WCHR means you may be able to climb stairs. WCHS is wheelchair to the door of the plane, inside the plane you must use your crutches. You will be asked for a certificate of fitness to fly. Have your doctor write one.

Yes, I should add a question mark after the title. How to do that? I asked mod. (I wrote the title when they were stonewalling about the history, that really seemed fishy. Next time I will just look it up at the machine like crossy said)

Yes And since covid i try to do it touchless, not rubbing the card over the reader but holding it an inch (or a cm) over the reader. Nobody does this, and i suspect the system isn't really up to it. (I learned my covid behavior in Taiwan where people don't even touch handrails. You really internalize these things after a while)

I was suspicious because many, many times i get refused at the turnstile when i enter BTS. Get the reed screen "please try again". But they really never deducted money when this happens (happens 70% of the time)
-
Thx I will remember this. When I asked for the history in the morning they obviously didn't bother to request it from head office. And when I really showed up again after 2 hours, they told me "maybe tomorrow" Only when I just didn't go away and instead called call center again, they started to ask for ID etc. Took 45 minutes, and they had the print-out. Print-out is fine. I really forgot several trips. So, everything is fine.
-
Credit went down fast the last couple of months. But when it jumped from 9xx to 7xx I was like "did I forget any trips I took?" Today credit jumped from 7xx to 5xx, I went to BTS Thonglor and asked for the history. They promised it in 2 hours. Callcenter confirmed, it takes 1 hour. After 3 hours they told me to come back tomorrow, maybe, maybe they will have the history... Call Center: "wait 5-10 minutes".... that was 30 minutes ago. Oh, and they refuse to print out that now there are 527 baht on the card. The card is only used for BTS. Any experience like this? How to handle this?

Thailand is their main market, they are a Thai company, directors all Thai (except Patrick Lorentz), associated with THG as others mentioned.
