  1. Tomorrow I'm planning to go to Koh Larn from Pattaya. Could someone tell me where the bus at Ekkamai drops me off in Pattaya? Are the multiple drop-off points? Any recommendations for Koh Larn on a budget? I hope to stay for 4-5 nights. I hear it's very nice.
  2. Glad the green card worked to get a Thailand Pass - I’m more concerned about it not working in other countries outside of Thailand and so that’s why I got the A4 certificate at Mother and Child Hospital in Vientiane.
  3. Wrong. I just crossed over land from Vientiane 3 days ago. You have to apply for Thai Pass first. Was quarantined a total of 5 hours. Piece of cake
  4. Hi @RedReding Yes I got vaccinated in Laos. I have brought the green card with me on my trip as a "backup" but what you should get is an A4 sized certificate of vaccination, and you use this to apply for the Thai Pass. The green card might work as well for Thai Pass, I'm just guessing, but I think other than Thailand you'd be better off with the A4 certificate. To get the certificate you bring your green card and your passport and a copy of both to a building behind Setthathirath Hospital - I don't think I can post the link here. They give you an appointment to pickup your certificate a week later -- but I saw a sign at the office saying that if you need it earlier due to travel plans you should bring documentation of your trip such as a flight ticket, etc. You have to bring this documentation to the building behind Setthathirath Hospital 8:30-11 AM and then the pickup will be in the afternoon. Good luck.
  5. I need major work done on my teeth. I'm looking for a good quality and price combination anywhere in Bangkok. Thanks!
  6. Sure. I just crossed today from Vientiane to Nong Khai. No complications whatsoever, super smooth and easy (except the wifi not working at my quarantine hotel lol). From arriving at the border on the Lao side to arriving at my hotel, it took a total of 1h45m. Just a bit of waiting while Immigration goes through your paperwork. A Thai minivan picks you up from the Lao side and is the same van then deposits you at your hotel. The hotel package costs about 5,000 baht. You pay for your PCR test in Laos separately. Also to note that when I applied for the Thai Pass I did it on Saturday March 12 and I got it on Sunday March 13, less than 24 hours later (they say to allow 4-7 business days, so that was great). I got my Thai PCR test immediately when I reached the hotel at 10:15 AM. I was released at 8 PM, so only needed to quarantine for <10 hours total. I'm staying at Tensino Hotel in Nong Khai. Feel free to send me a PM if you have specific questions @RedReding or anyone else.
  7. Hello: I am already approved for a land travel Thailand Pass arriving by land from Laos on the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge in Nong Khai this Monday, March 21. When I applied, the rules stipulated that I have a PCR test within 72 hours of arrival. HOWEVER, I am now seeing that several YouTubers are claiming that the rules have changed and a PCR test is no longer necessary. Could somebody please confirm this is accurate, that I DO NOT need a PCR test for my Monday crossing? I have emailed the Thailand Pass email address but have not yet received a response. Thank you for your help. Best Wishes.
  8. I’m coming to Bangkok for a few weeks and I would like a recommendation for a medical clinic or hospital to get a general yearly or biannual check up, including blood tests. Best quality/price option since my insurance doesn’t cover it. Thank you for your suggestions.
  9. Thanks to everyone, so I see it will not work. Is it possible to get a driver's license on a 30 day stamp? I could use my hotel as residence, for example.
  10. Excellent, that's precisely what I'm looking for. Cheers
  11. I have a Thai driver's license that expired a few years ago. Is it possible to renew this license even though it has expired? What would I need please? Cheers.
  12. Now I'm 5'10" (178 cm) and 250 pounds (113 kilos). Definitely planning on doing something about it and losing weight, but for the short term does anyone know if UNIQLO has clothing for men my size? I used to love their clothes when I was a more skinny version of myself and I will be back in Thailand in a couple weeks and would like to buy some new clothing. Thank you!
  13. Despite 8%/year seeming high, this is not really a good investment due to the constant devaluation of the kip. Furthermore, if you do want to maintain some savings in kip as I have been doing for several years with a small part of my portfolio, an option that pays higher interest at 12% for a 24 month fixed deposit account is Ekkaphatana Microfinance Institute. They were started with support from the World Bank in 2005 and so I consider them quite safe and have been happy with the service. They can transfer your interest to your BCEL account every month also.
  14. Instead of paying SWIFT fees, an excellent method would be to maintain your bank account in the US and have it transferred there. Open a Binance account in Laos. Then transfer the funds into a cryptocurrency exchange, sell to USDT, from there to Binance (Binance is not available in the US). Then you sell the USDT for LAK in Binance peer 2 peer. and it goes into your BCEL account. The USD/LAK rates are even better than the best exchange shops in Vientiane and you don't have to be ridiculous SWIFT fees.
  15. Correct about land border crossings but not about flights. There is Lao Airlines Flight 02 NOV QV443 11:35-13:05 (check Lao Airlines Facebook posted 14 Oct). Also there are 2-4 flights/month from Vientiane to Kuala Lumpur, where you can transit to Bangkok. Probably since I would be coming from Laos I would be required to quarantine despite my UK nationality, but just trying to confirm this. Cheers
  16. Hello: I am a UK citizen, fully Sinopharm vaccinated for months, currently in Laos. I’m interested in visiting Thailand after 1 November. Will I need to be quarantined since I am coming from Laos or will I be allowed free movement from arrival given my citizenship? Cheers
  17. Hello: I've bought a new phone and would like to access Kasikorn Bank's K-Plus app. However, I am not currently in Thailand. It has been possible to use K-Plus on my old phone up to this point but I am not sure of the process to switch it over, or if this is possible since I am out of the country. If nobody knows or has experience with this, I will call Customer Service, but wanted to check here first. Thank you.
