I took MAL from KL to Capetown to Buenos Aires (in 2010). I thought the checked bagged allowance was 40kg. At the airport I discovered that such baggage allowance was for the Capetown-BA part of the trip, while for KL-Capetown was 20kg, and the price for overweight was ridiculous. The fellow at the check-in who explained this tried very hard to convince me to check my bags as they were RIGHT NOW, which made me suspect there was some incentive for himself. I found a quiet corner and poured through my things, discarding nearly half my stuff (I think this was not unusual, there were a few airport maintenance staff hovering in the near distance waiting for me to go my way and get at the flotsam). I know the value of the stuff I tossed was much less than the fee would have been.
the devil is in the detail. unfortunately, these days you have to concentrate and check, and check again, all details when booking long haul flights. the smoke and mirrors marketing and pricing of the short haul market has infected the long haul market.

At a guess because the management are total <deleted> without any clue how to run a retail outlet and even less commonsense.
so... if all the products on the shelf have been sold they should not re-stock the shelves until the shop is closed? that's common sense? it's certainly an ineffective business model.
and if products aren't available on the shelf you wouldn't complain, you'd be happy to wait until the next day to buy those products?! really?!

assume thais who have recently traveled abroad will also be required to comply, and that the authorities have a system in place to identify those citizens who should be complying.
-
In other countries they have staff to resupply when the shop is closed.
not true, in the uk supermarket shelves are re-stocked during shop open hours
try not to see criticism through the lens that if something is not right it must be because it's thai/thailand.

If Thai was the international business language, I would speak it fluently.
if only everyone was as perfect as you.

There are so many punk kids in Thailand it's actually quite shocking. Their lowlife loser parents let them cruise around on motorbikes without mufflers at any speed they want and terrorize people. If there were any adults in the room all these kids would have their bikes confiscated and the parents fined.
very sad. but not a thailand problem, many countries have issues with the extreme behaviour of adolescents

Sadly their is no shame from Thai's !!
sorry, but you are wrong to suggest this is a thai trait, back home the council in a small town near me decided to cut down around 30 mature deciduous trees for apparently no reason, they did it overnight which was particularly sly. and once they're gone that's it...

Speeding isnt a problem, driving up someones arse with impatience is a big problem
i'd say speeding is a problem because you have less time to react
there are bad drivers everywhere, and thailand seems to have more that its fair share, but nothing like the insanity i've seen in lebanon and india. so be thankful for that, and be careful out there.

in all the years i've been flying into and out of thailand i've never been delayed arriving or leaving - always been through immigration before my bags arrived.
an air stewardess took a shine to me one one flight and gave me a fast-track pass that i could use in case of long queues. i've never had to use it, probably obsolete now 😄

they are thai, this is thailand, they will have much more idea of the possible outcomes than us foreigners. leave them to it.

The maid from Yasothon was Roger Crutchley, not Trink. Roger Crutchley was actually a proper writer and I used to enjoy his columns (he was also the sports editor of the BP). Trink had maybe 5% of his talent as a writer.anyone who knows about writing knows trink was an awful journalist, i was always surprised the stickman site always held him in such high esteem.

the only way i can, and will, use the site is with an ad blocker. the amount of intrusive ads is ridiculous. i understand that ads are an important segment of the business model, but to have ads that actively prevent ease of user access to the site is counter intuitive. most web designers understand this, but clearly not all...

Ask yourself - would you start chatting to women in your mall in the UK, USA, Australia?
Sounds absolutely creepy to me....
depends on the situation, if a girl is interested and lets you know then it's fine. pre-smart phones i met loads of girls in malls, on buses, walking through markets, in parks, non were working girls, and many wonderful times were had. smart phones and internet daring put an end to this, for me anyway. it was a lot of fun while it lasted.

Are there Thais who can sing?? and they don't cover or copy??
sure, my friend's daughter studied music at mahidol, she now works as a professional jazz singer often performing at top notch venues. jazz is not my favourite, but she has an amazing voice.

low level scam, and to be honest if you're not streetwise enough, or have done so little research on your destination, to spot these scams then you deserve what you get. this sort of stuff happens in pretty much every popular tourist country so don;t go saying it's a thai problem.
