  1. I must be a Aussie because they don't teach basic grammar at Australian schools?! 🤣
  2. you have to wonder what was going through their minds. anyway, plenty of contemplative time now.
  3. good points, for basic users you get what you pay for, i've had HP, lenovo, acer all pretty similar, for sure check keyboard ans mousepad, and screen size and weight if that's what's important.
  4. It appears they put a hot 🔥 candle in your ear and it apparently melts the ear wax I was tempted but decided not to very wise. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/earwax-build-up/
  5. not a bad price, if it works. buffering does my head in so i've gone down the robust nord vpn route and mainly watch uk tv, and download other stuff from tpb. i managed to get a three year deal with nord for something like 70GBP for the three years. sorted. bargain.
  6. i like gifts i'm ok about sharing food my family is extremely important to me this one difficult as i'm happy snogging in public i have been known to have a bit on the side. am i so different from other foreigners here?
  7. a report out in the uk today, charging points have become considerably more expensive as the providers look to fleece the ev drivers, who are now, if not charging at home, paying much more per mile than petrol/diesel owners. 😏
  8. totally disagree with your generalised TIT thai bash comment, i have absolutely no issues with my home or mobile internet in thailand, whatever site i'm visiting.
  9. Every April in Thailand young men take part in a lottery to determine whether they will be forced to do military service. Pull out a red card and you are drafted for up to two years. A black card means you are exempt. only those who haven't had the foresight to do the boy scout/cadet training thing while at school. very easy to avoid military service, no need to get involved in the lottery.
  10. but personally I don't trust Thailand (or Thai people in general) to strictly adhere to laws in the same way Europeans do. this criminal free paradise you refer to certainly does not extend to the whole of europe, in fact i can't think of any criminal free country in europe, though i haven't been to finland. or, is this just an excuse to thai bash, which is surprising given you seem to have chosen to live here.
  11. he's far more amusing than Trink, not obsessed by the sex industry (yawn) and, importantly, he's original, he doesn't cut and paste other people's writing.
  12. sounds sensible, if people want to stay longer get the appropriate visa.
  13. unfortunately, the french never colonised thailand hence, lack of aesthetically pleasing (or any) city planning and buildings, decent bread and bakeries and decent coffee. fortunately, near my place there is an excellent bakery owned and run by a japanese baker.
  14. charming. i'm pretty widely traveled and in my experience you see people who eat politely and people who don't in pretty much every country. i often think people on this forum have limited experience of countries and cultures outside their own and thailand. traveling more widely will give you a wider perspective and understanding of different cultures and behaviours.
  15. as your wife is thai surely she's best placed to explain about thai weddings and answer any questions you have.
  16. not sure what rock your friend has been living under, but suggest he uses a web site called google, it's a search engine which means he can find information on pretty much any topic he/she wants.
  17. you assume the brakes actually failed, i would bet my house they didn't, and that the accident was due to human error.
  18. i come from a small village back home, one of my elderly neighbours lived in my village and her husband, of 40 odd years, lived in a village a 10 minute drive away, it worked for them, they found it extremely beneficial to their lives and relationship. tbh i can see the positives.
  19. sophisticated? hardly. more like the buyer didn't do basic due diligence or research before booking. booking accommodation on facebook when there are plenty of bespoke aps available, what could possibly go wrong? 🙄
  20. on average i only see a small minority of foreigners wearing helmets when riding motorcycles. i don't understand the mentality, but am not surprised by the consequences.
  21. He claimed he was drunk and unable to control himself, insisting he did not intend to sexually assault anyone not the most imaginative line of defence. though if it works all you have to do is get sloshed before committing a crime then walk away scot (scotch) free...😁
