  1. I flew to Fiji recently. The airline check in staff took just a few seconds to check my vaccination certificate, travel insurance, and prebooking for a covid test after arrival. Why do some people want covid drama to go on forever, and are addicted to mindless bureaucracy? Does it make people feel artificially safe? Is everyone suffering from Stockholm Syndrome?
  2. There's a big QR code on international vaccination certificates. It can be scanned and checked in seconds, just like a passport. Airlines could also collect it via their own websites along with other APIS data that they already collect. Too easy.
  3. Even a tourist visa would take years? That's surprising. Lot's of Thais travel to the USA as tourists with no issues.
  4. Travel insurance is a very good idea, and may well be here to stay given the number of tourists who get into accidents, but airlines could verify this at check in. Thailand Pass may be easy to get, but it's off-putting to those who have never applied for one, who may think it's more difficult than it actually is.
  5. Thais don't need insurance, but we still need a Thailand Pass. As others have said, it's pointless. If they want to check vaccination status, they can do it at flight check in.
  6. Like it or lump it. I hated all those rules to, so I became a Thai citizen. The process was a pain, but well worth the effort.
  7. Try getting your other half into places like Australia, the UK or the US - tons of money and paperwork involved.
  8. ASEAN is a trading bloc. Not a common travel area like the EU. One day, perhaps, but I very much doubt it.
  9. China, or haven't you noticed? While the US preaches about pronouns, China makes things.
  10. What was once the world's greatest power, now has an obviously senile old man in charge. It's such a shame.
  11. Thailand isn't part of Indonesia though. Every country in the world has different rules on who is and isn't welcome to stay.
  12. Looks more like the Thucydides Trap. The old empire lashing out as it self destructs under the weight of its own contradictions. I hope I'm wrong.
  13. Very macho, you must have a big one, and you're completely in line with the media feed. Let's nuke Russia then. Get it off our chests, while our domestic support structure goes to hell in a handcart, people at home unable to pay their bills while we blow billions on yet another war that we don't understand.
  14. Great that you advocate refraining from comment - this is exactly what Thailand is (very rightly) doing.
  15. I used Iraq to raise a credibility question - one that you can't refute.
  16. On which piece of ground, and at what point in time? Documenting it, while it's actually happening? I don't think so. And yes, I did believe that there were WMD in Iraq. Thailand probably did too. Once bitten, twice shy, as the old saying goes.
  17. In war, truth is the first casualty. Neither of us has the faintest idea what's happening in Ukraine, or what will happen next.
  18. Not at all. I've no idea what's happening in Ukraine, and nor do you. There are two sides, each telling us two different things, and each having very questionable credibility. And nor does Thailand know what's going on, which is why it made the right decision to mind its own business
  19. How do you know that the poll itself wasn't biased, given that the organisation that held it is obviously biased? This is a good example of why the West meddles so much in places it doesn't understand, and causes one catastrophe after another. You'll be telling me that Crimea didn't vote to be part of Russia next, that only polls supporting your view are valid polls. Thailand is right not to take sides.
  20. A self described "remarkable" poll from Kiev by this incredibly impartial organisation... https://www.europeanleadershipnetwork.org/about/ Polls are used to shape public opinion rather than to measure it. Brexit and Trump are two good examples. You'll be posting material from the BBC and CNN next. This "poll from Kiev" purporting to speak for all Ukrainians - did it include people from Eastern Ukraine too? You don't know.
