I was in the J Inspire last week for 7 days. I don't think anyone was allowed to use the pool.
My room overlooked the entrance to the Hotel J and pool next door but never saw anyone in it.
You can pass a lot of time reading garbage on TVF.
Now that you say it I have not seen anyone using the pool in the 4 days i have been here. chlorine might be a super spreader?

This is about compulsory health insurance for O-A visa applicants. Something you're not eligible for.
The insurance you bought (covid?) is not a reasonable comparison to the subject matter here relating to retirees.
I was talking about the insurance policy i had to buy to get my non immigrant O visa. My kids mum is Thai. The policy is the same policy that retirees need.

And that was only a COVID policy, correct ? At 63 I pay currently about $2000 US for 1,000,000 baht coverage with exclusions. AT 3 million who knows , I also pay 7700 baht annually for 400/40 coverage. I sent off to Aetna a request to quote at 3 mil coverage...we'll see how much it turns out to be. If they add outpatient...that adds typically 40-50K per year to premium on top.
My policy includes 100k USD covid cover. I am 47 years old so premiums are a bit lower.

Agreed...but pre-existing conditions not covered. For example, I have controlled high blood pressure with meds. My policies state that anything remotely related to HBP is not covered, including kidney disease, heart problems, stroke, etc etc. Just covered about 90% of the ailments that take down majority of older men. And your coverage was likley for 90 days, how much vs for 1 year...every year ?
Yea. pre existing conditions are tricky. I paid 1000USD for a years cover.

I had to get 100k USD cover for my NON-IM O. Fair enough really. People should be expected to cover their own medical costs in a foreign country.

Many phones are still SIM locked to a particular network for instance the phones sold in 7/11 are locked to True, at AIS and Dtac shops they display 2 prices the cheaper price is for a monthly contract and SIM locked phone...not sure if the expensive price is unlocked or not ?
I'll have to ask next time I'm in there.
Yes Tukcom is still open, around half the phone shops have disappeared though they seem to be very slowly returning..I never could figure out how so many shops selling the exact same thing could make a profit all within in shouting distance of each other ?
good news. i bought many phones from there over the years. even if only half of the stalls are there then their will still be plenty to choose from.

You mean like Polio?
no polio is a very different disease. corona acts more like a flu virus that mutates so it is very difficult to vaccinate against. the current vaccine for example is not doing so well at combatting the latest variant as it didnt exist when our current vaccines were being developed. there is no on solution to covid like there was to polio. eventually we will go to a system of annual shots for those at risk but over time viruses tend to get less dangerous so vaccines may not even be required.

What?!
Who?!
At least you have a laptop.
I imagined locked phones were a thing of the past. Get it sorted! ????
I used to have an unusual business in NZ. i needed burner phone and numbers. they are almost free if they are locked to a network.

You could have ordered a SIM in time for your arrival and added a 20 Mbps data pack to it: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/ais-4-10-20-mbps-wifi-6-i2832805441-s10335143437.html
I guess you were busy enough getting everything together just to be able to land.
Have wifi so no rush for a sim card. Browsing thaicupid now. Better pickings up at the kinaree.
Dont have an unlocked phone.

I cannot believe we're still having this discussion. It reduces your transmission rate. THAT'S IT.
This search comes up with DOZENS of different sites showing evidence supporting my statement, not ONE refuting it:
"does the covid vaccine reduce your transmission rate?"
Use any search engine, they all produce the same results.
I doubt you can produce ONE valid source saying vaccines don't reduce transmission rate. How can people not get that?
Life wont go back till normal till everyone is exposed. this virus is not going away.

Your post is very much ant-vax.
Please point out which part. I am fairly sure vaxing old and fat people is a good idea. Death rate is less than 1% so vaxing say 5% of the most vulnerable should be enough.

Yes, let's look at Israel, Infections are FALLING and they are NOT locking down.
Looks like the virus has finally gone through. Of course there is no way to tell how many lives were saved by the vaccine. Can probably get a bit of an idea by comparing total deaths from year to year.

Learn the Michael Jackson moonwalk . They won't know if you're coming or going.
Or....wear a suit. Thais never ask anybody wearing a suit what they're up to. Wearing a suit gives you superhero powers that makes it look like anything you do is unquestionably legitimate.
no way i could handle wearing more than a shirt and T in this climate but thanks for the entertainment. Wonder what the punishment is for absconding, not that I am going to do so.

Anti vaxxers should be taken out and shot for speading such false information. Take a look at the deaths in the UK in January/February this year compared to now. Infection rates in the UK are fairly high at the moment but they are not translating into deaths. Post facts, not fiction!

Who is anti vax? (pretty sure you are not allowed to talk about shooting people on here)

Yea, similar to the flu jab before winter for those that need it. People are being oversold on how effective vaccines are. In New Zealand the govt is saying vaccines are going to end the ongoing lockdowns. A lot of kiwis are in for a nasty surprise.

You will find i suspect with this attitude in the next few years many avenues closing to you i would imagine in Thailand UK NZ or elsewhere
E.G i believe in UK to attend some football matches you have to be vaccinated
It seems COVID is following the path most viruses take. They become more transmissible but less lethal over time. The vaccine seems to provide very short periods of protection requiring boosters every 3 to 6 months. Will be interesting to see how many people will be willing to get jabbed so frequently and to see how many governments will be willing to wear the ongoing costs. I am not big on going anywhere with crowds so I am fine missing any of those sorts of events.

Well sorry IMHO (apologies if you dont agree)
If you are NOT vaccinated you are one of the people who SHOULD NOT be flying or entering the country!
A vaccine only protects the person taking it. As I am not in a high risk group its better my vax goes to someone it can actually do some good for. (if they actually work). A vaxed person still spreads and can still die of the virus so what difference would it make to anyone else? People need to look at what is happening in Israel. They have the highest vax rates in the world. COVID still spreading and lockdowns still being used.

Aotearoa must be really horrible if you're willing to pay that much to rush back into Covid central.
COVID finally is just starting to run through New Zealand. I am not in a high risk group for the deadly virus but our feminist PM loves to do lockdowns over just a few cases so better to move back here and keep the kids in school.

Almost no one talks about how quickly the vax wears off. Many of the articles I have read say it loses over 50% of its protection after 6 months.
