A couple of brands (Volvo is one I think) have committed to go all electric within a year or so!
I think there will be a major surge in electric for a couple of years very soon and then the price of used fossil fueled vehicles (trade ins) will start to fall driving the industry where they and the Govt. want them to go?!
Around 2 million electric cars sold last year and close to 4 million this year and the pace is accelerating with a projected 40 million in 2025.
By 2030 around half the car sales will be electric and close to 100% by 2035, with large trucks mostly electric by 2045.
Is it any wonder the oil companies are pushing out press releases almost daily, trying to convince the public the electric cars / renewable energy are bad news and climate change is a hoax.

It would be best if they wore the dumb "red hat" so us normal folks can just avoid them.

At the conclusion of the next American Civil War, historians will trace the root of the conflict to the Reagan era, when he abolished the 'fairness doctrine.' The 1949 'fairness doctrine' of the USA Federal Communications Commission was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses that present controversial issues of public importance, do so in a manner that was honest, equitable and balanced.
Recently, computer scientists at Harvard / MIT used artificial intelligence to analyze millions of political articles, tweets, and Facebook-sharing data points.
They published the findings in a book, "Network Propaganda"- "Misinformation and how the beliefs spread,"
The book makes clear it has been the decades long growth of far right media in the form of Fox News which is the rampaging Gorilla destroying U.S. democracy.
The authors' conclusion is that "something very different was happening in right-wing media than in centrist, center-left and left-wing media." It was the feedback loop of right-wing quasi-journalism that had the most impact--and that hypothesis has profound implications not only for the study of the recent past but also for predictions about the not-so-distant future.
SUMMARY:
Words of the authors, "the right-wing media ecosystem differs categorically from the rest of the media environment," and has been much more susceptible to "disinformation, lies and half-truths."
Liberals want facts; conservatives want their biases reinforced.
Liberals embrace journalism; conservatives believe propaganda.
A majority of conservatives are dwelling in an alternative reality, an echo chamber of fake news and conspiracy theories, intent on outraging the viewers, motivating them thru hate and fear to vote against their own interests, to support a corporate political agenda, rewarding wealthy GOP kingpins with tax breaks and deregulating corporations.
They demographic that would benefit from a higher minimum wage, higher taxes on the rich, better education, health care and clean environment have been programed thru behavioral science marketing to vote against these things out of hate for their perceived enemies, the Democrats.

Furthermore, within this political nexus is a narrower geopolitical influence. The misinformation is far more likely to come from the US red states than anywhere else on the planet. Other hot spots are those countries where the Murdoch press has influence. These outlets see that extremist niche marketing of conspiracy theories and misinformation to a particular segment of society has a strong profit motive. All the more because many platforms are now denying them a voice.

We all have lost friends and family members to Rupert Murdochs propaganda machine.
The consumers of his media products dwell in an alternative reality of fake news and conspiracy theories. Drip feeding the viewers a steady dose of hate, fear, outrage and disinformation to support a corporate political agenda.

Hmmmm... I wonder who knows more about renewable energy and the future of transportation?
Elon Musk, the CEO and chief engineer at SpaceX & Tesla or some guy on Thai Visa that watches Fox?

Airbus and Rolls-Royce made the joint decision to bring the E-Fan X demonstrator to an end in April 2020. We continue to explore new pathways for disruptive CO2 reduction and are leveraging the knowledge gained through E-Fan X to do so.
Definitely you should be investing in coal and oil.

Planes will not be, battery weight will kill that unlike a plane that gets lighter as it burns fuel battery planes dont theyre saddled with that take off weight, let me know when 400 people get on a plane and cross the atlantic, Im not talking those patehtic 10o mile range 6 seater things
Battery weight? I see your a bit behind on your scientific literature.
Elon Musk says "all transport, apart from rockets, will be electric in future"...but what the hell does he know anyway.... Guess he hasn't heard of the geniuses posting here on Thai Visa...
Better phone Airbus and the Rolls Royce jet engine division & tell them to stop the research.
And while you're at it, tell them their test flights are just a figment of their imagination.

Youd better not fly then either
Aircraft will be powering up with electric too. In fact all transportation (except spaceships) will be electric soon.
Dinosaur doo is history my friend.

Fossil-fuels charge the batteries.
Guess you never heard of the renewable energy boom? The largest companies in the world are now operating on 100% renewables.
But go ahead, put your grandkids college fund in coal.
Now you better hurry up and phone the Board of Directors at Mercedes, Jaguar, VW, Toyota, GM, Ford, Volvo, Honda and tell them they are making a huge mistake switching production to EVs.

100bt per day child support? What a jerk. I spend that feeding stray dogs.
It's more like 1,000bt per day to raise a kid.

it always amuses me that some farangs, quite a lot by the sound of it, come to Thailand and spend their days strolling around shopping malls and having coffee, something they could easily do in their home country. Odd that. I suppose its better than sitting at a bar all day drinking alcohol and looking miserable.
I go occasionally for the excellent restaurants like the Lebanese, Italian, Sushi or Arnos Steak House... and perv a bit on the eye candy.

Its a pity the city council doesn't have an eye for the future and are inviting more cars into town.
They should be encouraging mass transit options and limiting parking in town would be a good start.....but noooo....they do the opposite.
Just a few years ago, the dimwits decided to rip out the beach habitat and added a new lane! Idiots. Their "improvements" look like hell.
It's a beach town! More beach... less pavement.
If I was in charge the entire beach road would be gone and filled with trees, cafes, bike paths, parks and a quaint meandering lane with electric shuttles that would scurry the masses to car parks out near Sukhumvit Rd.
Deliveries would be permitted after midnight via 2nd Rd.
"Road pricing" like they have in Singapore and London with tolls for cars entering the city would also discourage the traffic and generate income for the mass transit.

Lots of opportunity for misdeeds in the construction of a concrete structure and with the financial incentives to cut corners, including the morality, ethics, greed and incompetence of the owners, designers, contractors, inspectors, laborers and management...
......what could possible go wrong?
A long lasting structure needs first class engineering / design.
Then contractors need to use the specified size rebars, the correct amount and precise placement of said rebars, the precise recipe of the concrete mix, proper installation, (not watering down the mix in a hot climate to make it easier to pump and pour), curing the concrete, weatherproofing / sealing, drainage, inspections and professional maintenance / competent management.

The new Subaru BRZ is more unique than a Benz in Thailand (and more fun to drive) and wont have the snobbish stigma of AMG owners that like to post here..

If you got money to burn, I'd go for it. Beautiful car.
Depreciation begins the second you drive it off the lot of course. 20%-30% then around -30,000BT per month.

Looking forward to the following topic:
I paid for the land in her name.
I paid for the house. I own the house, right?... but now......we are getting divorced.
Can I dismantle the house & take it with me?
Her brother threatened to have me killed.
Does anyone here know a good lawyer?

Suppose we hit the body with a tremendous ultraviolet or just very powerful light, bringing the light inside the body, which you can either do either through the skin or some other way, sounds interesting.
And I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute, you can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it'd be interesting to check that. It sounds interesting to me, so we'll see.
But the whole concept of the light, the way it goes in one minute, that's pretty powerful.

Not good way to begin a project. Tell them to stuff it and rent a place.
