    No of course not, BUT somethings are outside of a persons control. You can only control the things you have control over? If you are walking across the road at a crosswalk and the lights are red to traffic, then a car comes speeding around a corner goes thru the red light, hits you, who is at fault? You cannot control crazy people!

    Certainly agree with you! I have lived and worked in Jakarta for around 5 years and been to Bali, maybe 15 times. Its a place to take a girlfriend, not really a place to get one. If the OP is looking for bar girls etc, paying a bar fine, then no and certainly no Go Go bars! Its more a place to chill out and enjoy the scenery, plenty of culture around if you care to look!

    From the attached article: "Despite the arrival of Major General Saksira Phueakam, the national Tourist Police Commissioner, in Phuket the next day, no information regarding the accident has been released by the police or local authorities." This seems very strange, plus there was CCTV footage, that has not been released? Normally isn't it published?

    So from the attached article: "Police then found that the British man had been allegedly linked with many crimes in the Phuket area. He was also reportedly previously imprisoned in his home country for many cases such as selling illegal drugs and firearms." This wasn't just a one off accident, he was a known criminal in the UK? Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier though, leaving, then coming back?

    Agreed. They still have foreign/farang tourist police, go to walking street and you can see them, but they are more like liaison and have very limited powers.
