My mates kid goes to Rugby school in Pattaya. They are going to try a sandbox boarding bubble where the kids live on campus. Catch is you have to pay an extra 80,000 baht for a term !!!! He is not happy, already paying a full terms fees for online learning, and cant afford the extra on top.
The Thai's know how to do it.
Now the fun starts, kiss your 60 baht beers goodbye.
Closed for 6 months, now it's time to get recoup those loses.

If a school was to open under the Phuket Schools Sandbox Pilot (Only from Preschool to Year 4) the following would need to apply:
- All people above 18 years old, in the household of the child would need to be fully vaccinated. This would include maids and nannies. Proof of the vaccinations would have to be submitted to the school prior to 1st September.
- Children would need to be tested for Covid before they enter the school for the first time, and once every two-weeks after. Parents would need to pay for the costs of these tests.
- If a child in a class tested positive for Covid, that child would need to be taken to hospital (field hospital which is free of charge or a private hospital at parents cost), where they would need to stay for 14 days.
- All class members in that childs homeroom, parents and all family members in the household would need to spend 14 days in local quarantine (free of charge), or 14 days in an ALQ venue at the cost of the parents. This would include siblings in other classes.
- If a case is found in any class, that class must close for 14 days.
From the conditions above, this is not something that we think parents should consider without due process and thought, and I know that there are many parents who are not yet vaccinated. I will therefore send out a survey to Preschool to Year 4 parents to gather your thoughts.
What you have printed above would most likely break the human rights laws of most countries.
Thought last week Thai scientists were saying we had to learn to live with the virus?
Yet, posters earlier in the thread were working themselves into a psychotic frenzy, salivating at the prospect of a quick return to 'normality'.
Their bars reopening, packed to the rafters and the immigration hall at BKK rammed full of cash rich tourists.
They are dreaming.

More AZ coming from Europe too according to this.
Thai government has negotiated the purchase of two million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine per month with the European Union and the procurement of 2.5-3 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine per month from September to December.
He disclosed that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has assigned the Ministry of Public Health to procure vaccines to be administered to 12 to 18 year olds, to boost their immunity before the reopening of schools and colleges, adding that the CCSA has already worked out the “Sandbox Safety Zone in Schools” program, to be trialled in some selected boarding schools.

'sandbox safety zones in schools'
I wonder when the gogos of Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy and Pattaya will be opening, with this rampant paranoia.

Just now, Leaver said:This is what you posted: "The most important thing, for numbers, is the restrictions entering Thailand."
Merely pointing out that the restrictions for entering Thailand are not necessarily the most important thing. There are also the restrictions placed on people RETURNING from Thailand.
Thailand could open up, completely, no restrictions at all, tomorrow. No point, if their tourism market is from countries that require quarantine after returning from Thailand because Thailand is still seen as a high covid risk.
No one posts anymore because you just want to pick a fight.
I'll let you get back to talking to yourself.

Not entirely.
Thailand could open up tomorrow, no restrictions at all, but if the home countries of tourists require mandatory 14 day quarantine upon returning from Thailand, at their own expense, then there will be no tourists from those particular countries.
It's not only the restrictions Thailand has, and has not, it's also the restrictions of the various countries of where the tourists will be coming from that will determine the tourism numbers here in the future.
Once again, Thailand can not "smoke and mirrors" this one to the world. 70% to 80% of Thai's on the mainland will have to be vaccinated for other countries to allow their citizens to travel to Thailand, without quarantine or isolation upon their return home after a holiday.
That's what i meant. Restrictions.
14 day quarantine etc.
Most importantly the risk of getting carted off to hospital if you or someone sitting near you on the plane even tests positive.

The most important thing, for numbers, is the restrictions entering Thailand.
Many people think it will be back to the good old days of a 30 day exemption stamp at BBK.
If Thailand are implementing restrictions on restaurants, the border control hastles are still going to be onorous going forward.

As far as i am aware, Retox had a number of partners with businesses in the UK.
I think one had a heavy plant business doing airport runway surfacing etc.
To be honest i just think they took the view, why keep a business a float when nobody knows the visibility of earnings going forward.
Everyone knows Pattaya demographics are changing.
I used to have brunch in Jasmin's on Pattaya Klang every morning. Knew the French boyfriend/ husband pretty well.
He said 6 years ago it would have been 90% farang/10% asian, now it's reversed.
Young, trendy, asian small groups and families.
I think Retox's owners made an astute commercial decision. If they want another hobby, they can buy another bar if/when normality returns.

I see you can’t handle the truth that the west mismanaged the pandemic while China did well. As for the lab, it’s more politic than science. Opening the labs will not stop the politicking by those who have an agenda.
The west wouldn't have anything to deal with if it wasn't for your CCP comrades.
You also believe everything China state media feeds you.
Also deflected a simple question about why the WHO scientists aren't allowed into the Wuhan labs.
The only agenda is from China and it's propaganda foot soldiers, like you, posting on this forum.

Scanning the forum for any criticism of the motherland.
Pity the WHO scientists weren't allowed back in and given free access to the Wuhan labs to stop another Chinese gift to the world.

Another fictional, self pitying and deluded rewriting of history.
After reading the goading, baiting, childish troll posts put out by your chum, we now are fed this garbage.
The UK had a vaccine procurement czar who went out and proactively bought vaccines . Their was an element of risk involved, because the UK did not know if the vaccines would be successful. Luckily, they were and therefore the UK government secured vaxcines as soon as they came to market.
What did Thailand do?
Didn't bother risking a dime booking vaccines early.
Refused India's offer of free AZ.
Didn't bother joining COVAX because it was beneath their dignity.
Ordered some submarines instead.
Thailand was going to try and get a BOGOF special when the world was awash with vaccines.
Do you really believe that vaccines could not have been procured early, if a tiny fraction of Thailand's richest 1% wealth had been deployed?
Don't blame western governments for Thailand's cheap charlie dereliction of duty to it's citizens.

These countries also contributed significant funding for the research and development of the vaccines. Thailand did not have a big corona problem in March or any time before that really. Demand for the vaccines is massively outstripping supply.
In what world, even with the most proactive of governments, would Thailand ever been at the front of the queue for vaccines? Would the rich western countries have given up any of their supply to ensure Thailand got a fair share despite not contributing to the funding of the research nor having anything like the number of cases/deaths the UK/USA/EU were having?
I'm not sure what else they could have done based on those circumstances - they simply were never going to get western vaccines in any significant number before the rich western countries, especially not when those western countries were in much greater need of the vaccines at the time.

IN the case of my country you could apply for a loan of 10,000.00 overseas for the cost. And its a loan. ????
Of course I'm sure that these kids didn't read "avoid all non essential travel" and "things change quickly". What a great life lesson!
If anyone thinks its tragic they can pay their quarantine bill. I will bet nobody will take me up on that offer. ????
Yip, you can be guaranteed their fan base won't be putting their precious little paws in their pockets to help repatriat them.
Easy enough to start a GoFundMe begging page if they wanted though.

Amazing how Brits living in thai glass houses are slagging off holiday makers. Id make a point of staying away from any farangs in Thailand since they dont generally help with the situation given the amount of those arrested for illegal gatherings without masks. How many of you would even be welcomed back to the UK? Youre living in Thailand because of the cheap charlie life style you all have been bragging about for years on these forums.
What a ridiculous post.
I thought many farangs, bar owners etc, where helping feed the Thai people in Pattaya.
A lot of those farang businesses won't even be getting any rent relief from their Thai landlords.
Thai government has done nothing for many of it's citizens. Yes, they maybe the grey area of employment, but even so it seems foreigners have been the only ones to step up to the mark.
Why single out UK nationals?
Why not direct your considerable bitterness and anger at the Thai government.
British expats didn't 'cheap charlie' vaccine procurement and roll out.

There are people with money to burn, or launder, all over the world.
The warehouse club, on soi bukahow, is going to have a state of the art lighting rig allegedly worth millions of baht.
Look at the new beach club at treetown.
Personally, i think this pandemic, and it's restrictions on global travel, are going to mean Pattaya is a long way from any sort of recovery.

Stop. Alert.
Why make sensible and logical comments?
How dare you suggest an individual should be held accountable for their actions?
It is up to their government and various gofundme idiots to fly them home in first class luxury.

One would think with a life of such rich experience, you would be more prone to enjoying the benefits of your labours rather than, working yourself into a froth over an article it seems you havent even read.
It seems your vast assets weigh heavily upon you.
I traveled for work and leisure all over Europe and the US during my self employed life as well.
It's called a work life balance.
Feeling financially secure and free of money worries gives you many options in life.
You worry about your own life noodles, because i'm alright thanks.
Hope everything works out for you the way your hoping.

Oh, the bitterness.
Yeah, the bitterness of someone who retired at 51, owns 2 properties, a stocks and shares portfolio, pension, other assets etc.
The bitterness of someone who has traveled to Bangkok, Chang Mai, Roi Et, Koh Chang, Koh Samui, Koh Phanghan, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Pranburi, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Siem Reap, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Danang, Hue etc.
The bitterness of someone who never has to worry where the next dime is coming from.
I'm bitter, bitter, bitter.

I have suppprted myself and earned my way since my late teens. I have been travelling since I was 25. No saftey net, just me.
Your remarks date you as clearly as the other posters.
People can and do earn money in ways it seems you cannot conceive.
All this nonsense about trust funds and silver spoons just shows how frighteningly narrow your perception of life for the younger generations is.
In do respect my elders, the ones who deserve respect. I have little patience for myopic internet bigots who refuse to accept that their way of looking at things is the only.
Who is clueless here, really?
I believe you.

Just because you had a silver spoon in your mouth doesn't mean times have changed.
It just means people actually have to work to be able to afford to travel not ask for a bank transfer from the family trust fund.
Maybe you should get a clue and show some respect to be people that are not only older but a lot wiser.

Signs of improving COVID-19 situation in Thailand
in Thailand News
Posted
You don't have to wait. If your so keen to get back to your beloved Thailand you can do the Phuket litter box or look at 4 walls in a Bangkok hotel.
Why would you wait?
Oh, wait a minute, you don't want to be frog marched to hospital for 2 weeks if you or anyone close to you on a plane fails a PCR test on arrival?
If your waiting to roll off the plane whistling dixie, scoot along to immigration, get a 30 day visa stamp and jump in a taxi to Soi Cowboy, your going to be waiting for a very long time.
