Household waste collection, where we live, is excellent......always on time, once a week without fail......anything bagged up and left outside is collected.................go for a walk and there are big, black bin liners dumped all over the place ..........?????? What is wrong with people?
Your average two week tourist couldn't careless about this tax, air quality or military coups......once they set their sights on a holiday here nothing will stop them.

Standard practice here..........house addresses being circulated now as to where to go and get their money......each house has an observer to check they don't collect more than one hand out.
Lived 300m from Nana BTS for 18 months.........never felt worried or threatened .........but I guess it's quite a busy, well lit area.
Having said that i never wore any gold chains (tacky-tacky) no phone, not even a watch, and only carried enough cash for the night....so not much of a target.
Haven't read the thread.....but pay attention to airflow.....try to avoid trapped, air hot spots....we have a couple.
Also consider big, wide concertina doors to open up the house to air (at least in the winter time)......I would put up external shutters...keeps the house cool(er) and is a security feature.
We have a 'Songkran unit' set up opposite us.......I haven't seen them stop a single car or motorbike rider in three days.....just sit there chatting, drinking and on their phones.
