Trat is VERY small.  Not much to do other than the weekend market.

A good way I use to look at cities is the satellite view with Google maps and then the street view.  Where you can get a look at what's around from the street!  It's pretty cool.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Street_View

how is street view any more useful than just zooming in on the satellite view

We live on the Darkside of Pattaya, out by the lake, nice and quiet  & relaxed atmosphere, we go into town only for shopping and the decent restaurants, they have gyms, cinemas & major stores, I haven't personally been anywhere near a bar, disco or go go in Pattaya for over 10 years, I have no need, your perception of Pattaya is flawed by what you see on line.

We have a gym out here, yes a guy got killed there by a couple of gunmen a few years back but by all accounts he wasn't a very nice guy. We have some lovely restaurants we are looking forward to getting back into when they are allowed to open & serve wine again, and there is a 12 kilometre cycling/ running/ walking track around lake Mabprachan, quite a few nice bars/restaurants aswell, it's not as bad as you think.

what u mean by dark side of pattaya is that an area?  yes im sure thier is a nice part of pattaya . ive never been thier so i cant judge it but a few years ago , so many bad stories coming out of pattaya  ,  that pattaya has a reputation problem now unless u are a sex pat.  ??  i think the thai govt is trying to clean up the pattaya image?? not sure how they will do that

You haven't even got the pre-approval? When did you initially apply (I thought it was a few days ago)?

It's a requirement of the government.

    "What’s included in 1-night package?

The 1-night package of Test & Go program should cover accommodation for 1 night, transportation from the airport to the hotel, the required RT-PCR COVID-19 test, and an Antigen Test Kit (ATK).

The number of complimentary meals and other benefits included in the package will depend on the hotel."

    https://thaiest.com/blog/aq-hotel-1-night-packages

"The prepayment should cover both the 1-night accommodation, the required RT-PCR COVID-19 test, and an Antigen Test Kit (ATK)."

    Bullet under point 5: https://www.tatnews.org/2021/10/quarantine-free-thailand-reopening-for-vaccinated-tourists-from-1-november-2021/

even if its not included someone here stated its only about 100 baht for that test.  lets hope.  i submitted my pre approval on sunday night late. and very stressful all this week it just say under consideraton.   london embassy said that an enmass pre approval for everyone comes today and on monday final approval of those and then coe shuts down.   i did send my chicago embassy a message this week and they responded.  "wait in line please"  which implys i will get it if i wait? still its stressful as i will have to pay 100 dollars for a pcr preflight test on monday and i may not have my final approval then.   i wish the thais would understand we are paying money for tickets without approval to fly.   all i can say a lull in arrivals is going to be happening between nov 1 and nov 6 in that time between coe and travelpass switchover.

those are great sites. thanks. im looking at ranong at the moment.  i like to go to cities that have big c and tesco lotus.  in thammarat the big c has a carrot juicer in the vegetable dept and they make freshed squeezed carrot juice.  im spoiled traveler and need decent food. i suspect ranong will have everything i need and hopefully quieter than pattaya. when i see the pics of pattaya and all the signs of go go bars. it turns me off

you will be given a self test kit at hotel when you check out, the cost is about 40-80 Thb or even free

In the UK if you suspect you have symptoms PCR tests are free.

But, if you need a PCR test because you have travelled in to the UK (i.e. Day 2 test) or departing on a flight then we have to pay - Cheapest I found is £35 (pickup and drop off) but there are many which cost anywhere from £40 to £100 - some places are clearly capitalising on peoples ‘need’ to comply with requirements - IMO there should be a fixed cost.

just say u have symptoms and then the test is free?

The information is not new, it was released when the rules where on 22 October https://www.tatnews.org/2021/10/quarantine-free-thailand-reopening-for-vaccinated-tourists-from-1-november-2021/

ATK is part of the "test and go" and included in the package price.

salerno u are quite knowledgeable.  i still have not got my pre approval for my flight on nov 4.  i may have to push back trip if i dont get pre approval today. what im hearing is that regarding coe.  the embassys are doing a mass pre approval today and then on mon and tues giving final approval for these pre approvals and then shutting down permanently.......im cutting it close and taking a risk as i have to pay for pre flight pcr on monday and i already booked hotel and air ticket to travel and i dont have coe!  stressful.

no im coming to conclusion that the self test is not needed at all for the one night test and go.  that is why they call it test and go.

    Thanks for the update.

The latest rules indicate 1 night hotel booking must include a PCR test on arrival and an Aantigen Test Kit (ATK) for Tourist to take with them for the 6-7 day self test.

I'm Assuming these prices don't include the PCR and ATK as one hotel is 1999 baht?

On the other hand, the other four hotels seem to have significant cost for 1 night (compared to 7 day rate)

    3900 (16500)

    6500 (23900)

    5800 (13800)

    6500 (19000)

    Other

    1999 (19000)

huh. now a self test too? when will the rules end for me. im becoming ill with all the forms etc.  nov 1. has added a new rule the day 6 self test. this is first ive heard of that.  and the hotel is providing that in the one night package.  so confusing.  im taking a hammer upside my head

When I say lock her up, I mean lock her up for a couple of nights at the station, teach her that thieving is wrong. stealing from shops is not the answer,   she should seek help if she needs food or money.

If she gets away with stealing every time,  what next ?  a gold shop  ....

i doubt if a bread theif will become a hardened criminal.  and i doubt she will target a bank

    Koh Chang=kc

Rainy season is about finished end of November. Absolutely perfect weather after that.

im googling kc.  i need to make a note about traveling to citys in thailand being a farang that only speaks english .  thier are tourist citys and thai citys.  kc looks like a tourist area so the locals more apt to speak english .  and more chance i will find restaurants that i like , etc.  like easy moto rental and western catered massage and gyms.    that is a plus.  like i said ive been going to thammarat in the past (pre pandemic) and i liked the people thier.  as not many tourists,   but not many locals speaking english thier and restaurants that cater to westerners are lacking..........but i found really good massage places in thammarat.  versus krabi, in krabi it got hard finding decent massage.  kc might me worth a trip.  and now since pandemic this might be a good time to try places that have been overrun by tourists in the past as droves of tourists might not be thier at moment

try koh chang, peaceful and at the moment quiet, lots of nice places along the coast from rayong to koh chang

hmmm. i will look at koh chang i will see if thier is a city thier or if everything is spread out.  i like to find a gym some massage and veg restaurant .   and a main food market.  that is why i tend to go to cities.  on islands things tend to be spread out

Are you?  It's geographically know, and labled in text as the wettest place in Thailand,  and it gets more rainfall than anywhere else is Thailand.   It doesn't  matter your personal  opinion,  as you arent quoted in text.   All the others reading this can check the statistics,  and know whom is correct.  So there you go, just because  you want to know it all and be correct doesn't  make you correct.  You're hilarious

what is kc and thier is a place in thailand that has had no rain for months.  where is that

There's a rainy season and a dry season. Look it up. I've visiting KC for decades. Know it very well .

in nov and dec.  some places get more rain than others .  bkk for instance gets less rain than hat yai.  in nov and dec. that is why im asking about rain as krabi will get less rain than surat thani in nov and dec.  i could look it up as you suggest but i thought boots on the ground might know more about this than a computer program....................what is kc?

There's this place called Cowboy Town. I have no idea where it is except that it's not too far from Bangkok. I should really ask my wife for a name. Sounds like OP's place. All I remember is that they had Chocolate Factory outlet there and we stayed in this hotel right in the middle of nowhere. It was surreal. Anybody know the name?
