    Another possibility to consider..

There are several shops selling folding bikes in Bangkok including Brompton, Tern and Dahon brands. So you could buy here.

Also there are quite a few on Lazada, but most not great quality. I recently bought a Pace Tiger folding bike for our 9 y.o. daughter. Not the best, but bad.

.looks exactly like the zizzo liberte. i bought in usa for 350 dollars.  how much did your bike cost.. i did buy a folding bike in bkk years ago . the hub wobbled after a day.  i returned to store and after loud shouting match they finally gave my money back minus 1000 baht. and took my passport page photo , i guess to send to authorities .  so im leery of bikes thier,  but i know thier are decent shops in bkk.  somehow i think the prices will be higher in thailand than in usa,

This is the title of the thread: "if i buy a folding bike new abroad will thai customs charge me duty to bring bike into kingdom"

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yes i would bring it in and then take it home.  but i do have stuff in storage in bkk so its possible  i might leave it their.   but most thai customs guys are gonna assume i would take it back home which i probably would do.  NOTE. ITS  a folding bike probably in a regular size suitcase.  so i might have 3 bags total which definately would gain attn from customs guys.  i hope to only bring two bags  total though which customs would not be alerted .  any single guy bringing in three bags of luggage is gonna have to have it xrayed?   and questioned as 3 bags means u are rich?

I was told to go home last week. Well, they gave me the stamp for exactly one month from that date, but not the 60 days extension.
Unfortunately I don't know the exact details of their reasoning. Background story below in case that might be relevant in some way.

I arrived at the end of December on a normal Tourist visa. I've stayed in Si Racha all this time, and went to their immigration office first.
They told me to go home earlier this year already, but then I went to the Pattaya immigration office where I got the extensions without any questions.. until now.
(I know one other case of someone who was staying here who had to leave in april because she did not get the extension here, and did not try at another office).
So last week I went again to Pattaya for another extension, and this time they told me they will not do it anymore, I had to do it in Si Racha where I stay. And in Si Racha they told me that they will not give me the extension.

Since I am very grateful to be able to stay here that long (to be with my girlfriend), and was planning to go back anyway before the end of the year, I did not ask more questions and don't know how that decision is made. They did ask my girlfriend if we are married and why not, so maybe their decision is based on that as well.....

so if you get a no from one office .  u can try another office. for instance i would assume samui office is strict but office in thammarat would be looser

OP said "bring a bike" into the kingdom. If you ship it, you will most likely be charged duty. If you bring as luggage on a flight, just tell the immigration inspector you bought it in Thailand.

When travel was simple, I regularly shipped my beloved Schwinn to the states and back, every trip. I was only questioned once and when I told the inspector, "I bought in Thailand," he waved be on, having done his duty, probably not wanting to bother with the paperwork.

yes but others have mentioned paperwork. the bike only cost me 400 us dollars...............i have bought a folding bike in thailand before . the rear hub broke in a week on it.  this was years ago.  to be blunt i think better deals on bikes can be had in usa not thailand. they are all made in china anyway............im not keen on bringing paper work.  its a used bike once you ride it a bit.  i have been charged with duty once in all my travels into kingdom...............i brought in some rugs from india once.  i was stayng in bkk for a few days and then traveling on.  they demanded a duty on them.  had to relent.  i mean u cant really negotiate with customs.  the rugs were new.

You will only get a 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry.

At this time you would get a 45 day visa exempt entry but after the 30th of this month is unknown if the order for them will be extended. If not extended you would get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

You may not need a ticket out of the country to apply for the COE. Some embassies do not require it. But the airline may want to see a ticket out within 30 or 45 days.

If needed you could us a one one way ticket to anywhere to meet the 30 or 45 day requirement.

i must be confused some on some sites speak of a 90 day extension. is that a 90 day extension of some sort for a long stay visa only . thier are no 90 day extensions for someone on a two month tourist visa? i want to stay 5 months total.  my only avenue is get the two month tourist visa and then the free 30 day extension and hope the 60 day covid extension is still active after that or i will have to leave kingdom after the 30 day extension. maybe vietnam will have some options by then

  6. i remember thai leader saying this summer that he wants to reopen.  that he knows cases will go up but its worth it,  as hotels, etc are about ready to go under permanently...............and regarding the one month delay the doctor suggests... one month more.  and then next month he will say one month more.  i think the thai leaders have made up thier mind now.  we open up. knowing cases will go up.  end of story...........

Excellent post..........................and that would enable Thailand to open up again.

Anti-vaxxers are very much secondary to that objective - but your proposal does not deny them entry.

I am not sure where they would stand on Covid insurance? Premiums must surely be much higher?

anti vaccers are making vacced insurance policys higher in price as well?

I cannot predict what will be possible that far in advance. I am only sure that the covid 19 extension will still be available after the 27th of this month.

At this time you would need the $100,000 covid 19 insurance valid for the 60 days that a tourist visa would allow when you enter the country.

thanks im planning a five month trip.........someone told me im better off coming in on a two monrh visa and extending versus getting the ao visa from abroad.  if i come in on the two month visa, and get the insurance u mention  .. will i need to get more insurance when i extend the two month visa an extra 30 day>??

That is partially their reason. I can recall tourism businesses were pushing on the government not to end the amnesty last year. They ended the amnesty bui started the covid 19 extensions.

any chance i can come in on a two month visa. get the 30 days extra and then the 60 day covid extension.   what demands would they have .  i have to buy the special insurance?  in this scenerio?

No, the problem with the prostate is that it never stops growing. When man's life expectancy was only only around 40 years that wasn't a problem. Now we're living into our 70s and more, it has become a problem.

so u are saying that its normal for prostate to get bigger in our 60s???  perfectly normal.  when it gets bigger it impedes sex and extrement abilitys?

I you apply for a tourist visa it will allow a 60 day permit to stay that can be extended for 30 days.

You could apply for a non-o visa that allows a 90 permit to stay but the only extension you can apply for is for one year based upon retirement. For the extension you would need 800k baht in a Thai for 2 months or proof 65k baht monthly income.

if im looking for 6 month stay,  and u say the non o visa allows a 90 permit to stay ,  does that mean i have to get the whole year long thing?  the 800k and the monthlyincome?   im comparing the non o and the a o
