Thai Ministry proposes Clean Air Act to combat rising pollution crisis
Big Bert replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I was out for a nice bike ride peddling round Soi Siam CC and Maprachan area. The amount of battered old pick up trucks and tipper wagons screaming engines and spewing clouds of black smoke is beyond a joke. Laws already in place to combat this but as usual no one cares. Earlier this year files smouldering away for days, burn off the verges and general rubbish. Where is the enforcement? Until people are hit financially they really just do not care then this clown comes along with his wonderful ideas 🙄 I'm off to get my lungs scraped out from all the black gunk..... -

Chinese Rolls-Royce Owner Demands Compensation from Pickup Truck Driver
Big Bert replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No, but I gives me a lot more cover than the standard 20k on government insurance. Also I would not expect huge amounts of damage off the scoot, not the same a rear ending with a pickup at over 80km/h. -

I have class 2 on my scooter, with all the expensive cars around a little tap in traffic could get very expensive. I forget the cover I get but for 3k a year it gives me piece of mind. -

I done my renewal last week. As above had to book the appointment at the DLT not online. Nothing available for foreigner for over 1 week. Arrived for appointment 14:00 and was out the door with new licence at 15:25. Best renewal I have had at Banglamung, we started using Chonburi main office as is was more civilised but was very happy this time.

Confused re 45 day VOE
Big Bert replied to rogerpattaya's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have been stopped a number of times with Emirates on one way tickets, even with a re entry or non O. Had to ask for a supervisor to explain. No issues but sometimes get that "here we go" moment. Remember staff have to deal with different passports flying all over the world through Dubai. Not sure if the poster flags it up or down to staff knowledge. Keep the onward cheep booking handy. -
Depends on your area, Chonburi give red plates. Friends in Bangkok no plate until the white arrives. Not sure on other areas.

Bought a new scooter last month and was told can take unto 6 month now for white plate to come.
