  1. I still hope to one day read reliable information from the Thai authorities on what I should do if my test is negative, but someone else on the plane tests positive. I really don't want to be in quarantine for 14 days, especially since I was recently ill and have already recovered from covid. I see that this issue worries a lot of people on this forum. But perhaps we will receive an answer only after one of the tourists gets into such a situation and shares it in the press.
  2. As far as I understand, we are always talking about the test 72 hours BEFORE the departure time from the 1st airport, and not about 72 hours before the ARRIVAL at the final airport. Therefore, the calculation of travel time does not make sense...
  3. I believe many people would like to retire in Thailand. But it seems to me that most of these people do not know about Thai requirements, laws for foreign pensioners and bureaucracy.
  4. There will be, but 95% not because of foreigners who are vaccinated and tested before the flight and after arrival, but because of Thai citizens. Although it must be admitted that foreigners will also be the reason that large groups of people will gather and someone will be the source of infection in any case. But I think the harm for the economy and for many families is more from the fact that the country is closed. than from Covid.
  5. I do not think. Classic sex tourism in Thailand was dying before the pandemic began. I have come to Thailand every winter since 2014. Even in this short period of time it was noticeable that the "industry" was in crisis. Most of the go go bars were deserted or with few customers. Of course, there were exceptions (like my beloved Fahrenheit). But earlier in many establishments there were no free sofas! In 2020 the girls from many beer bars also missed clients (just surfing on social media). And this is Pattaya, which was the center of the nightlife. Things were even worse in smaller resorts like Koh Chang. Even tourists have changed in just 6 years. If in 2014 there were a lot of Europeans, Australians and guys from North America, then in 2019-2020 the main tourists were guys of Arab appearance, Indians, Russians and Chinese families (at the beginning of 2020 it was very deserted without the Chinese). All these people are not the main contingent for sex tourism, therefore, even without the efforts of the authorities, this industry lost its relevance. We must admit that the girls have changed too. The prices have become higher, the figures of the girls have become worse (there are a lot of fat girls in go go bars, and after all, there were only girls of model appearance earlier). The most important thing is a change in the girls' behavior. Money and social media have spoiled Thai girls and their legendary care about customers.
  6. And when all of a sudden the bars and clubs are allowed, thousands of Thais will return to Pattaya, Phuket and Bangkok from Isan. Many of them have not yet been vaccinated. But if there are new outbreaks of infection, the dirty farangs will be to blame ...
  7. There are changes for the better. But there is little change for my country. It is not on the list of 46 countries, and in any case, before the trip, you need a Thai visa from the consulate (which is not in my country). A few years ago, Thailand temporarily abolished the consular fee for visas in the winter months to stimulate tourism. It is very strange that this has not been done now, when it is necessary to stimulate tourism more than ever before.
  8. I really hope that we will have to pay no more than 1-2 nights in a special hotel. Because the requirements from the Certificate of Entry look very stupid in terms of "payment confirmation of residence for the entire period of stay in Thailand." For me, Thailand is interesting, first of all, as a country with free movement. Depending on the weather, personal circumstances and mood, I can visit 5-6 resorts in 1 month, and I would not want to pay for accommodation in advance, especially if I want to go for 2-3 months. I hope that the requirements for hotel reservations will now be the same as for a Thai visa (every time I need to book hotels and print this information for the Thai consul so that after receiving a visa I can cancel all reservations for free and choose hotels or apartments that I really need like).
  9. I do not know who create the list of "safe" countries, but according to the latest data, many of them have record morbidity and mortality. It looks like the list simply includes countries from which there are traditionally a lot of tourists in Thailand. It seems to me that the idea of a list of countries does not make sense if the tourists are vaccinated and tested.
  10. I really wanted to fly to Thailand in November. But for the citizens of my country, i need a Thai visa, which is produced for about 3 weeks (there is no Thai consulate in my country). Due to constantly changing rules, I canceled my trip this year. I think even those people who do not need a visa, plan their vacation in advance. Thailand is not a country that people might think of: Why don't I fly to Thailand tomorrow?
  11. Just because Thailand has become "even more amazing" in the opinion of the authorities, thousands of millionaires will not fly here. You need infrastructure, security, cleanliness and a much higher level of service. As for bars and girls ... Thailand is a Buddhist country, and sex is part of the local culture. Even in harams, you can see hundreds of huge wooden members with ribbons. Why are the local authorities waging such a fight with girls, to whom the lack of education (and often laziness) does not allow finding a decent job with a good salary? I am against human trafficking and sexual exploitation, when girls' documents are taken away and forced into prostitution. But in Thailand, many girls themselves want to do this, and most of the girls even have a choice: go with a person to a hotel or choose another client, more handsome or less drunk. I have been to Thailand many times and I know many girls (personally and by correspondence on Facebook) who take pride in the fact that they work in Pattaya and financially support entire families in Isana. My first Thai girlfriend for the night (we are still friends with her) told me that before starting work in Pattaya, she worked in a warehouse in Bangkok, and her family was starving. Their house in Khon Haen was so bad that when it rained, they scooped water from the floor together and slept in a raincoat. Now they have a nice house on a land plot, a new car, two motorbikes (my friend got one motorbike for free in the lottery in Insomnia). And it's all thanks to the sex and the farang money. She is not proud of her work, but she is proud that thanks to her sacrifice, her younger sisters received a good education, and the family eats well and the house has everything for life. No family tourists from India and China will provide money for thousands of local girls and their families. And thai government does not pay pension money to ordinary Thais. In addition, in my opinion, bars have practically lost their role as a meeting place for girls and clients. All girls in any case spend hours on social networks and get to know each other there. A family resort is fine, but Thailand has always been exotic. And I think that there is nothing wrong with the fact that in the daytime everything works for family fun, and at night, when the children are sleeping, other interesting things happen on separate streets.
  12. What 100K is this person talking about? It will be a great success to fill the plane with up to 250 passengers in the world after Covid. Does that mean they expect 400 tourist flights a day? I think this is too optimistic. Moreover, the routes are usually agreed in advance and the Thai authorities can already see which airlines are planning flights to Thailand. They can also limit this amount if necessary (but I think that this will not be necessary).
  13. I think that the root of all problems is not only the corruption of the authorities, but also the misconception of all Thai citizens about their country as the center of the world. I am a bachelor and have many Thai girls with whom I have friendly (and more intimate) relationships. All all Thai girls like to ask: for how many days I have arrived. However, not a single Thai girl asked me if I would return to Thailand AGAIN. But they all ask: how soon will I be back to Thailand NEXT TIME? Those, they do not even have the idea that there are many other countries on our planet and I can go somewhere other than Thailand. Probably, the authorities have the same concept and they imagine that millions of people are ready to return as soon as possible and no one will be stopped by their stupid COE and quarantine. I am almost sure that in November there will be another failure in the plans and only this will make the Thai authorities think and go for another liberalization for tourists.
  14. Unfortunately, I have to get a visa in advance at the Consulate of Thailand (which my country doesn't even have). In Minsk there is only an Honorary Consulate, where I can submit documents for additional money ($ 40 visa + $ 14 extra). For a visa, you need to collect a number of documents that must be additionally translated into English and certified by a notary. Of course, no one does all this for free either. Typically, a Thai visa and all the paperwork costs me $ 100 for a single entry visa.
  15. Is it so difficult for the Thai authorities to understand that the tourism business will benefit more from increased tourism rather than additional fees? Remove the Certificate of Entry, temporarily make free visas (for those who need them), remove expensive compulsory tests and quarantine hotels. This will attract hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists. Each of which will spend tens of thousands of Thai baht. And this money will indeed go into the pockets of the local population and the tourism business. Let them take the calculator again and make sure that 30,000 Baht x 2 million tourists is better for the country than 30,000 + 500 Baht x 1 Million
  16. I always need a visa to fly to Thailand, but not for Vietnam. But I have always chosen Thailand. If not for personal reasons, next time I would choose a different country. Dozens of paid certificates and permits for visas and entry - in fact, not something that the authorities of any country should require from a tourist who wants to choose this particular country and spend their money there. I agree to show a wad of cash at the airport to prove that I did not come to live in a tent and eat raw crabs on the beach. But to deal with all this documentary evidence 2 months before the trip is somewhat humiliating in the 21st century.
  17. Hello to all forum members. I have been reading this forum for many months but have never written here. Every year I came to Thailand for a month and it was never too easy with my passport. A visa and a set of documents were always required: a certificate from the bank, a paid air ticket in both directions, a hotel reservation for the entire period of vacation. Insurance was optional, but I always bought it for my peace of mind (just $20 for 30 days and $70K). Therefore, for me, the current requirements of the Thai authorities have not become much more difficult. But even for me there are unpleasant requirements for obtaining a Certificate of Entry. For example, I see that I need to show the reservation of all hotels or condos for the entire duration of my vacation. And these must be fully paid bookings. How can I know where I will be for 45- 50 days ??? I love to visit many places for 4-7 days and my plans constantly change when I am on vacation (due to weather or personal reasons). In addition, I was asked to buy insurance from a Thai website. Firstly, it is very expensive, and secondly, I can choose 30 days or 60 days. Why can't I choose 35 or 45 days and pay the correct price? I am also worried about the possibility of getting to the hospital if someone on the plane was sick. I am currently sick with covid and if I survive, I should be immune in the next few months. But no one takes this factor into account ... I love Thailand and spend a lot of money in this country, but if I had no personal reasons to come to Thailand, I would have chosen another country for rest.
