  1. Koh Samui rent has not been as effected as by the influx of Russians (yet)
  2. This to me this sounds like an excellent way to kill tourism not boost it. To the average local it sounds like a good idea. Since there’s hardly any transparency or accountability it’s reasonable to assume much of the income generated from these schemes are likely to end up in the pockets of officials and will not benefit the local population nor the country.
  3. Terrible accident. Also strange on so many levels. The Porsche Taycan S has radar and cameras with a collision avoidance system that (when working) initiates emergency breaking. That the divers airbags also did not deploy makes we wonder if the car was a collision rebuild done improperly. Since the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt that means the no seatbelt alarm was also disconnected.
  4. The intial government interest in EV's is not to solve climate change but to reduce emissions in congested cities. Cities that have significant air pollution issues. Utility scale Power generation is generaly well away from city centers. I own an EV and clearly they will eventually replace internal combustion engines vehicles (ICE) they use less than half the parts of an ICE. It will be interesting to see the change over but that will only occur when charging stations become readily available in Thailand.
  5. Are you saying Russia can switch to USD?! What world do you live in? Russia’s currency is Rubles. Who do you think buys the goods? A USD flush Russian population?
  6. There will be runs on Russian banks. Everyone withdrawing cash, The Ruble will tumble.
  7. Apparently you don’t know Thailand. It’s like saying the USA is all just like Las Vegas.
  8. Or perhaps they are trying to provide jobs for their citizens in areas hard hit by the loss of tourism?
  9. I have never seen a Covid-19 test result that doesn’t indicate the type of test it was. It’s invalid if it’s not stated to what method was used. Why would anyone with a Thai passport be stopped by immigration?! Story No such thing as a PCR lab test result in that leaves off the methodology
  10. In Europe Portugal, Spain and Italy are lovely. Italy is affordable if you live where Italians can’t earn a living.
  11. Disposed of the guns near the shooting. I stand corrected, not professional hit men. The Murdered man again referred to as a Canadian national? Also reported he was deported. Can countries just deport their criminals? If so why bother with prisons?
  12. Why are you people even in Thailand if wherever you come from is a utopia? There are no gangs or murders in your perfect homeland?
  13. If you have money you can procure guns in every country in the world. The sellers may have no association with the buyers, but as you say they can try.
  14. People will return once it is decided Covid-19 is endemic. The visitor health insurance requirement will stay as it’s not Thailands responsibility to provide healthcare to noncitizen’s. Fundamentally I don’t think Thailand wants to repeat the past of attracting cash strapped bargain hunting tourists. Those days are likely over. Just my opinion, but who knows when tourists will actually return. Hopefully the days when droves of tourists in insane numbers trample everything, are over.
  15. If there is a cheaper option, please enlighten us. I tried getting travelers to take packages on the airplane with them on their return, oddly there were no takers ; )
  16. China’s government is using Covid-19 as a smoke screen to recalibrate it’s society. From banning feminization of men to limiting the influence of its wealthiest citizens. A slow deliberate relentless plan to tighten control over it’s citizens.
  17. China’s government does not want its citizens traveling for many reasons. Covid-19 being only one of many reasons. The Government has been driving out Foreigners in drove’s from Hong Kong with its 3 week Covid-19 quarantine requirement. The policy ensures foreign businesses can not operate profitably with in Hong Kong. China’s zero tolerance Covid-19 policy is a smoke screen for larger recalibration of their society, There isn’t a epidemiologist alive who thinks Covid-19 it’s not an endemic virus.
  18. Since I am retiring in Thailand I too hope Thailand is prosperous. Limited foreign direct ownership of residential property will be a boom for construction companies and laborers as well as building material suppliers. It would be nice if I could directly own my townhouse instead of playing a complicated corporate ownership shell game. Thailand needs to kick start it’s economy! This could help!
  19. The second test at yet again another hotel is, in my humble opinion, a bit of overkill.
  20. “During their time in Finland, the Thai berry pickers were forced to work 15-hour days for little or no pay, as their earnings went to pay off debts accrued from their journey to Finland.” one month prison for each change sounds more just. Plus pay all the worker’s with interest.
  21. Majestic Taylors been using them for decades. The clothes outlast any other I have owned. 110-110/1 Sukhumvit Rd. English is spoken majestictaliors.com
