  1. So I originally came to thailand on an STV in February 2021 - I extended that visa two times for a total of 270 days...................after that I managed to get 2 x 60 Covid Extensions

I am British Passport Holder........My COVID extension will finish on 25th of february.....I am currently based in Phuket

VISA AGENT has just informed me IMMIGRATION will not extend, for any amount now, even with agents help, as I came on STV and already have 2 x COVID extension

I need to get back into Thailand ASAP ..................Apparently Singapore will open a VTL lane with Thailand on the 25th of february

Do you think I can come back to thailand on a Visa Exempt?........after a weekend of being in Singapore? Is it possible ? or do you think Immigration will turn me away, as I've been in thailand for over a year now? Do not want to get rejected at the border

Just out of curiosity, did they sign some documents stating that the matter is now settled? If so, who prepared those documents?

Yes the police took photos and the Police prepared a document in Thai , which me + owner of the car + observing police officer had to sign. The police officer/Police station keeps a copy

OP  -  you were coming across as an upfront guy who had an unfortunate accident.  Not so much anymore.  Winny little <deleted> comes to mind now.  You have been given good advice several times here.  Good luck out there.

Whiny little <deleted> ? No not really ????

Why would do you think it's sensible to pay the highest price they come up with at the very first instance (they are going to be mad at me obviously (and so might try and get as much money out of me as possible just out of spite, go to the highest price places and ask honda to repair some things which may not even be damaged, who knows what they are thinking when their car has just been ruined).

Anyway we settled for 40,000 baht cash at the police station to end the matter.

    You don't get to decide.

Ridcolous comment.....So I should just hand over whatever money the owner asks when .......Ok Ill hand over 100k just because you say so.............

    1) I'm not 100% sure it was even my fault, and  even if it was my bottle of bleach. I don't know if the maid came into my room while I was out and tipped out the bottle without me knowing. How can a bottle of bleach leak when the balcony provides a buffer AND the whole bottle was empty when I found it .......if the bottle hit the ground and leaked..........some bleach should be left in the bottle

    2) I'm also offering another option of getting from 2 other dealers, pick the middle price, so I can get a fair deal

  5. I like this idea

I will offer them two options

    1) I pay them 30,000 baht upfront cash at the police station

    2) I get three different quotes from three different garages because I feel like I'm being way overcharged for minor damage, and go with the owner to the garage and pay the garage the middle price quote myself

If they don't accept either of these two offers, I will say ok up to you but lets go to court

Demand three independent quotes for the repairs and say you will pay the middle one.......only sensible way out of it.

Pay the bill, from a repair shop that you get an estimate for, and just move on. By the questions you ask you are in no position to walk into a Thai court, the lawyers will laugh, take your money, and you will lose.  No pool water caused car paint to be damaged overnight....

Realistically if I didn't hire myself a lawyer , how much would costs for court proceedings (estimate)?..............

Id rather lose 30k than 50k, I am not 100% sure it was me and no 2) I feel he is overcharging for work which can be done for alot less? The person may also not want to both with going to court etc and id just say lets settle for 30k cash

You have really admitted you are responsible for the damage . You seem willing to settle but dispute the amount being asked from you to repair the damage . Avoid lawyers and request three independent estimates for the  paintwork repairs .You will then have a good idea of the fair price and prevent the car owners from perhaps  taking unfair advantage of you.

I am not 100% sure, more like 50% now. Even if it was 'my' bottle, a maid comes into my room, how do I know she didn't check the bottle of the edge on the balcony not knowing what it was

I will attach some videos and pictures so you can understand my point

    Swimming Pool Leaking 1:

    Swimming Pool Leaking 2:

Water bottle Leak test on balcony: to see where substance goes: Dosen't go down

The photo evidence they have to try and say it was me:

Look at the photo see many white marks all over condo, also white marks on floor no where near me condo. Damage to the car repairs also seems overpriced, only limited damage to the side of car

Picture 1: Evidence of pepsi bottle on floor: My question, if it spilled like that, how the hell did the bleach go down if the balcony stops it?

Picture 2: Evidence of white mark below my balcony but there are MANY white stain on that side of condo........Theres a chance it was actually from the swimming pool, swimming pool water contains bleach.

Picture 3: White mark stain on floor far to the left of my condo..............way out of where my bottle could have spilled

  9. I have a condo maid who comes into my room every week, How do i know she didn't jusst chuck the plastic bottle empty over the side...........I also took a video of a bottle spilling on my balcony and a ridge would stop any bleach from escaping the balcony, it seems unlikely to have the cars below

  10. Backstory

So I had a bottle of drain cleaner which I forgot to put the lid on my washing machine - on my balcony - I live on a top floor condo

Well the wind blew it over - overnight - and two cars below, are now covered in stains which cannot be removed...........both will have to be repainted.........I am guessing a full repaint for both..........Parts on car apparently have to be replaced also.

What evidence they have: A picture of a fallen over water bottle on my balcony (I put drain cleaner in another bottle to dilute it more)...............some pictures of white marks falling down from the balcony

Here's the catch.....the swimming pool is just above my condo and leaks all the time (I have video footage) and leaks onto cars below..........there are the same white marks all around the walls on my condo (Have photo evidence) not just below my condo where they think the drain cleaner fluid spilt............Does anyone know if swimming pool water can cause white marks which cannot be cleaned on a car/ is swimming pool chlorine corrosive to car paint

    -------

Car no 1: Honda SUV: Nearly all damage on the roof, some damage on the sides - Yet they are asking for total 50,000 baht + VAT for repairs at Hondo service centre.....they want to repair many pieces of the car even though the sides are hardly effected atoll

Car no 2: Haven't heard anything back yet.......it's old car probably worth circa 100k baht second hand but is more cosmetically damaged than car no 1

    --------

Tomorrow I will go to the police station to meet the own of Car no 1..................I would be happy to settle with the owner for 30k baht cash upfront...............but 50k baht seems too much and they are trying to get as much money out of me as possible.

Although I admit it's much more likely the drain cleaner that caused the damage to the car..............there's a small chance the swimming pool water could have actually been the cause

-----If the owner dosen't settle for 30k cash, and decides to go the lawyer route and sue me............what are my options?

1)Do I have to get/pay for a lawyer in return to fight my case.......how much do you estimate  that would come too..........how long would the court case take do you think?

    2) Could I  just represent myself in court and not pay any lawyer costs................so that even if I lose I would only pay the amount the court asks me too?

    3) If they win the court case......................would I have to pay for my fees and their lawyer fees also?

    4) I'm on a COVID extension and it runs out 25th of february, and could be rejected for next extension..........what would happen to the case if I leave the country to UK and then try to come back into thailand............would I be banned from Thailand for life..........or only until I pay what the court settles on the amount to the owner?

    Thanks.........sorry for the long text

  11. Well it gets even worse, it rained heavy overnight in phuket and, there was still bleach on condo wall, and a different car was parked below last night.........and so now a third car is now damaged, Condo didn't put a CONE out to stop people parking there (To be fair I didn't cross my mind either) but unlucky to really unlucky.................so total damamge is looking at 120k baht at least

Needed a full respray of my 1995 Mighty X. Mrs obtained a quote of 17,000 baht. Finally got it done via a second hand car dealer who is also a friend for 11,000. Time to call in a favour, if the vehicles aren't new or cherished and you go about it the right way you could reduce your outlay considerably.

One of them looks pretty old (Probably worth 100k baht if sold second hand as an estimate), the other one looks like a fairly expensive SUV....which is really unfortunate but most of the damage is just on the roof so lets see what happens

I'm guessing.....This could cost me in the region of 30,000-100,000 Baht+..........but no price quote yet

What are my options here............I am guessing have to pay..........unless I talk to owners and see if insurance can pay for the damage?
