  1. Every condo / shop has probably got their AC set to 15 C, and the grid is overloaded.
  2. When I went to Penang, Immigration officers were singling out ONLY Chinese for their passports to be checked before going into the waiting room to hand in visa application.......and being extremely strict on them "Why have you got overstay etc" shouting at them, being rude. It came across they REALLY didn't want Chinese getting a Visa --If the Chinese citizen didn't have evidence of a valid flight back they told them to come back tomorrow (After everyone had que for over 1 hours already in the hot Penang Sun) ----Chinese tourists I find are extremely rude, always jump ques? Who taught them to do this silly nonsense. How do chinese people react when other chinese people cut in front of them I wonder in China...mmmm.
  3. Are you serious? Wow, there are much bigger things in this world to worry about than what is written on a t shirt
  4. malaysia descending into a strict islamic country like indonesia...... There's no nudity here so whats the problem exactly?? First it starts with cancelling events like this but the islamic community wants to infringe more and more until unmarried couples who are caught kisses recieve lashes in public..............
  5. Ok So I have Just received Non-B/Work Permit I want to Go on holiday twice in the next few months 1st trip : Penang: 4-9th of April 2nd Trip: UK 23rd-30th of May (I know this is in term time but booked before I started job and the school accepted it as "business leave") Do I just apply for a multiple re-entry permit? Do you think I will have problems when I return from my UK Trip........has anyone gone out of the country trip during "term time" and faced problems upon return? Thanks
  6. Yes I have - I caught it when I was 30 years old living in Phuket town, I am now 33. Horrible disease. Felt some pain my lower back for about 1 week and then I woke up one morning and I couldn't move atoll my body was so stiff. Then I went to sit on the couch downstairs and every part of body was just THROBBING. Nasty few weeks. I had persistent joint pain for around 1-2 months, and after much rarer but still had in some places sporadically for a few more months. I took ibuprofen and paracetamol, not sure what else you can do to be honest. I'm lucky the joint pain went away although arthritis might come back when I'm older.
  7. I asked my Thai Co ordinator at my school If I could get my Non-B Visa at Singapore- He agreed Now It looks like a mistake, Singapore have a different system to Penang and Vietanne in Laos, You need to upload all documents online and then they assign you an appointment Has anyone got a Non-B from Singapore before , how easy was the process
  8. Hate the strong baht and I bet many digital nomad who get paid in another currency hate it also, We are like -10,000 baht a month worse off each month roughly than a few months ago(If you earning $2,000+ a month)
  9. They always seemed pretty busy whenever I visited Siam paragorn, like a continous que.......... then again they were situated right at the entrance of Siam paragorn, and probably paying the highest rent............ They should have at least kept a smaller store open in Phuket or Ekkamai
  10. Love ben and jerrys but sadly they don't sell the best flavours here, they also clossed down the B + J shop in Siam Paragorn, - Hope they consider re opening with the massive influx of tourists now , although they closed down pre covid
  11. 7-Eleven have really stepped it up the last few years : more products, cheaper prices, better food, fresh coffee available in most stores Family mart is more expensive on most products by 2-5 baht, don't have any good deals really, half the food selection and much worse quality products 7-Eleven are surely going to take Family Marts market share
  12. Roads are completely chockablock at the moment- especially in the South at the moment. If the Chinese are allowed to freely come in January/February its going to be impossible to get round the island basically. The amount of pent up demand from chinese is going to be sky high + Record numbers of russians
  13. Its true I think The Moon landings were faked in my opinion and millions of people around the world do also Would I ever teach that the Moon landings were fake to my students, No.............because its just my opinion and I have no factual evidence to back up my claim.
  14. Read my posts again, I NEVEr said I believed the Earth was flat, What I said was- No one here can be 100% sure the Earth is round ........unless you've actually been up into outer orbit seen it with your very own eyes. I or You can be 99% sure its round - with using scientific methodology that is round but never 100% sure. And as a science teacher I would obviously never teach my students the Earth is flat. But its always good to question reality. 1) Do Governments Lie so suit their own agendas? Yes all the time.....About the Iraq War, etc 2) Is Science Always The Right Or Correct Answer, No. Just look at the evidence coming out casting a negative light on the vaccines. Search Dr John Campbell on youtube who was an adamant supporter of vaccines no he seems extremely worried 3) Do I believe it was possible for NASA to land a huge rover on the Moon in 1969, beam back LIVE footage of the first steps on moon, have a launch vehicle able to rendezvous with the lunar module orbiting at 18,000mph........... In the year 1969, when there's more computing power in your iphone than all the spacecraft of that era...........No........Simple impossible in my view. Have you even seen the Artemis footage.......they can't even get a continuous live feed...........just low resolution 240p with a few seconds of blurred footage here and there
  15. I guess the question people ponder is how can poorer countries and much less developed countires of Myanmar and Vietnam (Which are also more military/communist/strict countries) offer 2 x twice the salary than thailand.
  16. How dangerous is it to eat though........those fish be swimming in the dirty mekong river full of ****...........those fish are literally fed **** for their food
  17. true but UK minimum wage has increased from £5 an hour to £10 an hour for over 25's over the last 5-10 years
  18. Oh look Suprise Suprise, Cue the know - it - all English Teacher who wants perfect grammar for every sentence written in haste on an internet forum - give it rest!, and by the way - I am a science teacher .......not an English teacher
  19. Not true........Some things that I buy regularly have nearly doubled in price -Pepsi max big bottle used to big 20 baht 5 years ago, now 45 baht -Price of 15 eggs - 5 years ago around 50 baht..............now its 80 baht? -Gasoline in thailand has doubled in price from 5 years ago -Return Airfares home are probably now a whole months salary (40k baht, before 20k baht return was doable to UK) -Salmon used to be 400 baht kg/ Now its 800 baht/kg ----Nearly every has increased at least 10% in priced id say.............but some things up to 50%.........Wages have not increased atoll and actually decreased mostly
  20. Have to drink alot when you're being paid 35,000 baht and prices of most items have doubled over the last few years
  21. After COVID.......... It seems more and more common for government schools to offer even LOWER salaries now to NES 30,000-35,000 baht .........Maybe 40k if you're lucky and only in Bangkok.......... Even Government Schools in Phuket/ (Universities who have the contracts) have decreased their salaries for the teachers from like 40-45k > to around 35k-38k................. Yet most things including food and utilities have doubled in price over the last 10 years , Food, Petrol , Most 7 eleven items etc etc I wish there were unions or some sort of legislation giving NES Teachers a minimum - lowest starting salary (40k baht, should be the bare minimum in today financial conditions) Thailand teachers pay sucks so bad compared to Vietnam, china , south korea etc
  22. That's usual with M5 and M6, most of them just don't care anymore because they will be leaving soon, they know they can't fail etc But I've never heard of Admin/Management firing a teacher because of lazy students not doing there work? Especially in a government school. I could maybe understand it in a private school where Admin has pressure from parent payinh That's the students fault of completing work, not really the teachers Maybe record some of your lessons, keep evidence, show management you are trying your best in class to make them complete work Why not hand out suitable punishments - No work completed.........they stay behind with you at lunchtime?
  23. Serious question, from your own personal experience , How do you KNOW for a fact the Earth is round? Have you it with YOUR own eyes as a round ball? First hand experience I'm 99% sure NASA lied about the Moon missions and broadcasted fake footage so why couldn't they lie about other space missions? I'm not saying - he should teach the Earth Is flat, but you shouldn't also be so stead fast in your convictions to say the Earth is round
  24. 38 baht > 35.6 in just 10 days............what kind of stupid reversal is this? I hate it because I get paid on the 13-15th each month from job in US dollars...........If I had gotten paid at the end of the month (31st October).............I would have an extra 6000 baht to spend
  25. Thats what I was thinking - There in for a wet 10 weeks
