covid Visa extension Denied
James Bernard replied to freesudani's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes they are indeed working on new options! I will try myself tomorrow - have only ever wanted/needed Non-O Thai Child Dependent Visa. Request ext as alternative. Will update. -

Have you received any advice from agent who facilitated Volunteer Visa re. possibilities? The feedlback I've received from mine is extremely bad news. Will ask local IO tomorrow and update on the relevant thread. Not gotten as much traffic as hoped so not sure what experience others are having... -

Returning from the UK options

Ok. Poorly phrased, perhaps. Not disagreeing. Didn't know visa exempt entry was happening alongside STV etc. -
Returning from the UK options

OP is entitled to visa exempt entry due to previously having been on a Non-O? (i.e not back - back Tourist visas ) -
Ok noted. Thanks very much for this! Bad news, but essential to know. (Smart Visa a new category / change of category as well, i.e suggests central policy more wides-weeping than I suspected) I do have *a* letter from the Foundation, which they issued to help with opening a bank account... Sounds imperative to go down that route.

Ok thanks. This makes sense. I will go back to my local IO and talk it over again - will report back if the application is rejected explicitly on the basis of the prior visa. Probably take along the official checklist in Thai, if I can find it. Can't see that I am missing anything. They seem constructive enough; just have to work out what's going on, I guess. I know this is genuinely an issue for agents as four or five now have advised that this is the case. Perhaps Immigration have taken a view on agent-arranged visas in the current circumstances (possibly benevolently lol - can only speculate). I think a couple can perhaps still facilitate retirement, but for a parent, nothing doing.

I've recently been advised that immigration will not currently accept any application for a Non-O type visa / extension if you've previously been issued a Volunteer visa (expired or otherwise) Does anyone have any insight on policy direction here? e.g.: Is this the consensus nationwide? Will this policy apply outside of Thailand - or are Embassies/Consulates operating to standard requirements? Further Covid extensions rumoured/likely? Thanks.

Thanks, Joe, I've since had a Non-O Volunteer, and now currently on a Covid Ext. (The Vol. Visa was a mistake in hindsight - issued in a different province / immigration do not like it /won't deal with it). Since that has expired maybe I can try again? Currently in Sakonakhon where they seem to want marriage Visa docs / aren't familiar with the official requirements. I have everything 'officially' required including court document (as son younger than 7 etc. ) Seems to be possible/easier in Pattaya,... Given the circumstances, open to all options - maybe they extend the ext, Covid maybe they don't..? Sorry to hijack the thread, but any advice appreciated. Dms open.

Is there a specific office that applies the 400k on the day distinction for a Thai Child Visa? I'm being told its 60 days (both by agent I won't name for the moment and Sakonakhon immigration) same as Marriage. I have otherwise all the documentation but I'm not confident my Visa agent is going to come through with the 60 day Covid extension, at this point... Thanks.
