  1. Am based in Hong Kong and planning to enter visa exempt using my uk Passport then obtain an O -Retirement visa. I understand that when you fill in the thai pass application it will ask you for your permanent address outside Thailand and phone number. As I won’t have any address in Hong Kong when I leave is it acceptable to use a close friends address in the UK for this given I will be arriving from Hong Kong? Also what’s the purpose of the address requirement? Thanks.
  2. I meant “preferred” in the context of what policies were forum members choosing. Poor choice of words perhaps.
  3. That sounds ideal. Hopefully won’t have to change dates etc but good to have some flexibility with the whole process. Thank you.
  4. That’s good to know, thank you. Will check out their website.
  5. Thank you for the information. I already have global insurance done in the UK with AXA which covers any claims but I have a GBP10k excess to keep the premium lower. Hence am only concerned about something that covers me for Covid. I assume from the comments that if I enter visa exempt for 30 days I can still apply for a policy that covers me for longer at outset? I figure this also saves me re applying etc if the first thai pass application doesn’t work for any reason and I have to change flights etc. Thank you.
  6. Does anyone have any idea which is the preferred thai insurance company to use for Covid related issues so that it pays direct rather than having to pay out of pocket then get reimbursed. Also is it permitted to obtain a policy coverage that is longer than your indicated stay in Thailand. Am planning to enter visa exempt then convert to a O retirement and wouldn’t mind getting a 90 day policy rather than 30 if the cost is reasonable. Thank you.
  7. Thanks Dr Jack, could you please also clarify where and when I would purchase the re-entry permit with single entry or multiple entry? Is this at the time I do the O visa or can it be done after if and when I decide to travel outside of Thailand but want to keep my O retirement visa validity?
  8. Assuming I apply for a retirement O visa and pay the extra amount for the multiple entry option. If I then leave and re-enter is then any further clarification on whether am I able to do so with just a 30 day 50k insurance policy when my visa has longer than this to expire? It seems under the current rules I would be required to then obtain. The 50k insurance for the remaining multiple entry visa term instead of just applying for a 30 day policy. Any further insights on this would be appreciated.
  9. Am planning to do a swift wire transfer to my account with Kaisakorn Bank for the THB800,000 plus some additional funds to cover some long term living expenses. As I plan on sending this in USD I have checked with K bank and it seems that if I am sending over USD50,000 then they may require some additional documentation from me or possibly reject the transfer. My solution to this is to just do 2 separate transfers each under the limit one for the immigration visa and another for long term living expenses. Does anyone know whether the funds sent to K bank to be used for the visa application have to be one transfer only or if I can do 2 transfers instead? Also are there currently any restrictions on which bank we use for the visa application as long as it’s a thai bank with a bank book etc?
  10. Thanks for your comment. As I also have a Hong Kong ID card with my UK passport I can just provide this as well if asked.
  11. Am not familiar with Visa requirements from the US so am unable to answer your question.
  12. Thank you, that’s reassuring to hear. Used to work in Spain many years ago and loved your country too. Enjoy your stay in Thailand.
  13. Thanks Richard, I’ll see if my passport details can be added by the Ministry of Health.
  14. As it’s an official document issued by the HK government I don’t think that’s an option but thank you for the suggestion.
  15. Am planning to apply for the Thailand pass and m aware I need to have the required insurance etc. However as I am a Hong Kong permanent resident my vaccination record has my Hong Kong ID number on it and as I am also a UK national I was planning to use my UK passport details for entering visa exempt, flight and hotel booking. Should I therefore just use my Hong Kong ID number for filling out the thai pass info even though I want to enter visa exempt? Wondering if this might cause my thai pass application to get rejected if I use my UK passport info. Thank you.
  16. If I arrive at my Condo on a Friday and have 72 hours to do the report does this mean I have to do it by Sunday at the latest or Monday? Is the Muang Thong Thani office open on the weekend still?
