The first 1.3 million, of the 3.7 million doses of the Moderna mRNA vaccine set to be delivered in January, arrived in Thailand today (Thursday), with the balance to be delivered by the end of the month. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/over-one-million-doses-of-moderna-vaccine-arrive-in-thailand-on-thursday/

I am looking for a Thai language online reading and writing class. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am out in the sticks upcountry, so an online class, seeing and talking to other foreigners, is preferential to private lessons.

You don't have to wait until you get to Thailand to start learning Thai. There are many classes and teachers using 'Zoom' on a computer, tablet or smartphone. I have been learning with https://learnthaiwithmod.com/online-group-lessons/ and I am very happy with their lessons. I also have private Thai language lessons using 'Zoom' with a Thai lady teacher who spent 6 years in the USA perfecting her English. For more details pm me. It is important to have a Thai language teacher who has spent time in an English speaking country so that you can understand them.

Can someone on a retirement visa get a tax number? If yes, how? If I get a tax number, do I have to fill in a tax return every year? -

I understand the interest is 0.25%, is that correct? -
No. Here is some good information. https://www.bangkokhospital.com/en/content/gall-stone

I understand there are two methods of removal. One being through a surgical cut and the other being Laproscopy. What was you quoted for and was it a State hospital or private?

You have been lucky then, so far.

In that case, I understand it is classified as 'big'. You should arrange treatment without delay.

I had some occasional pains in my lower side/abdomen for a few years. The NHS in the UK could't find the cause. ☹️ Afterwards, I moved to Thailand and a couple of years ago had a bad attack. The wife and family forced me to go to hospital which was a private hospital upcountry. It was discovered I had stones in my gall bladder using Ultrasound. I was advised these could cause septic shock which could be fatal. I had the gall bladder removed by laproscopy at a final cost of 170K baht. No more attacks. ????

"I am in early 50s and I was diagnosed with a few gallstones, one about 2.6 cm, a few others smaller. " 2.6 cm is massive!! That is more than an inch! I think you mean 2.6 mm??

Thai Bank apps seem to require activating when in Thailand. I think the Op will be able to re-activate his account when he comes back. -
Are Appetite Suppressants Available in Pharmacies? I need to lose weight without killing myself!

What are the local equivalents of Tramadol please? I have a frozen shoulder and I need a pain killer better than paracetamol which I have been taking.
