  1. I agree with the OP. These people covering their full body on tattoos should be put in an asylum. It is also a form of violence against those who do not like it. I personally feel disgusted when I see one of them, and most of the time they are westerners.
  2. If this is true, why hasn't Biden released the files to definitely eliminate Trump?
  3. The bank book only needs to be updated on the same day, as far as I know. Letter and 12 month statement can be from the day before.
  4. I had a very similar experience somewhere up North. I had to go through an agency (tea money) to be able to get an appointment at the Amphur and get married. No other choice. Unless you're willing to travel around in other provinces looking for an available spot at another amphur (no guaranteed success). Good luck.
  5. No news here. The first thing I noticed when I came to Thailand is that it's full of prison leftovers from the West.
  6. Big city in Thailand. I prepared all the required documents by myself (embassy, translations, legalizations). When I finally went to the Amphur (muang) to get an appointment I was clearly told that I could not get it within the 3 months without the "help" of an agency because there's no free slot available. Paid near 10k to the agency. No other option unless willing to travel around visiting amphurs in other regions. Called a few smaller amphur in the area but they were all "full" and not willing to help. The agency gave me a free slot after just a few days. They were nice and helpful.
  7. I had to pay tea money to be able to get an appointment at the Amphur within the 3 month validity of my papers. No other options unless I wanted to travel around looking for an available slot. Both my witnesses were Thai (friends).
  8. Last week I went to the Amphur (in the big city up north) with all the required papers to try and book an appointment to get married with my Thai gf. Everything was in order and accepted, but after about 30 minutes talking with my fiancée, the staff said the next available slot is in May! By then, our documents will have expired (they're valid for 3 months), so I'd have to go back to Bangkok to get new ones and start all over again. However, the employee suggested calling this agency (phone number provided), they can apparently arrange an appointment for us within the current 3-month validity period. Has anyone dealt with this? Is using an agency like this recommended, or should I try a different Amphur instead? Thanks for any advice!

  10. Nothing to do there but eating oranges.
  11. That means you have never changed your passport in 20 years? Because new passport means new book. I went to the bank few days ago to let them know I have a new passport and they gave me a new book. With a mountain of paper to sign.
  12. How much % do they currently pay on interest? What's an FTD account? Thanks.
  13. Probably this has already been discussed, but could someone please shortly tell me what is going on with Bangkok Bank, as my money is in there (800K) on retirement extension, and maybe switching to marriage soon? As far as I understand it, BB is the only bank that is asking you to keep the money frozen for a longer period than what is required by Immigration? For both retirement and marriage extension? I don't need that money now, but you never know. Can I just open another bank account with a different bank and transfer the money? Thanks a lot.
  14. England, Germany and France are doing their best to start a war against Russia.
  15. OP, I do not believe your story. Got anything better to do?
  16. I'd never do it unless you want to play the russian roulete with your health.
  17. Are you making excuses for international narco-traffickers? Are you standing up for cross-border drug smugglers?
  18. Is it possible to switch from extension based on retirement to marriage extension? I am using the money in the bank method at the moment (800k). Could it be possible to do the 40000 bht/month instead? Does the money need to show as coming from outside Thailand? Just need to show 12 months of transfers before the switch and then keep on doing the monthly transfers? Cheers
  19. We all know why this is happening. It isn't only in Thailand.
  20. The requirements may change from one embassy to another. Liquorice, I think your detailed list, though very useful, make it look more difficult than it actually is. For example, for me the 'affidavit' is already translated into thai by the embassy and issued in two languages, so no need for translation and certification of it. The following is also not always required by the amphur: 'Embassy certified copy of Passport data page, translated to Thai, then legalised by the Legalisation division of the Consular department of Thailand’s MFA'. Passport data page is already in two languages (yours + english). Some countries (as in my case) require you to go to the embassy in Bangkok togheter with your spouse to get the permission to get married, cannot be done online nor by an agency. Again, different rules per embassies.
  21. Thanks to everybody for your replies. I've just found out that the Legalization of the Permission to get Married issued by the Embassy can be done also in Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya etc. Please see https://qlegal.consular.go.th/customer/create That's a great news as I do not live in Bangkok.
  22. I have to choose, but I’m still not sure where to get married. The embassy advises Bangrak.
  23. This is very smart indeed. But be careful with the crypto account that you are holding in a country that is not your home country (Thailand). Rules may change and not being Thai could end up in losing your money. Just my two cents.
  24. You're exactly the kind of person they're targeting.
