  1. Well, at least it's been put out there in public as it were . . . perhaps in the not too distant future they'll actually do something about it rather than just reporting it.W

What am I thinking . . . of course they won't stop it, that's why Politicians become Politicians . . . to pad their bank accounts.

It would be interesting to see some stats on relative net worth of some Politicians from before, during and after their terms. I highly doubt many left with less than they started with, and in most cases I would guess it would show a huge jump upwards.

  2. The mandate of the people is with the Thai government and its leader Rt.Hon. Yingluck Shinawatra. There is nothing that can be done within Thai Law to change that. Thailand's relationship with the international community is in good order. The institutions and ministries of Thailand are in good order. The country is returning to peaceful harmony. The Thai people appear to be satisfied. Would anyone in their right mind want Thailand to return to the instability of the last decade?

Now after this Tourist Authority of Thailand promotional clip can we return to the topic of "Thaksin rules Thailand" ? wai.gif

The quote is as grossly over-exaggerated and inaccurate as the TAT tourist figures are.

  3. Skype and Instant Messenger ! Whom is he trying to reach.....the rice farmers?

One of my friends has a family rice farm. He has an iphone, We facetalk. The brilliance of this option is that as long as he has a wifi connection we can connect anywhere for free if I am on an Apple device. I get treated to updates such as last week when he called to let me know that some guy who I only met a couple times finally hooked up with the girl in the next village that he's been chasing for years. Without our Apple technology, I'd never have learnt of this very important gossip.

BTW, skype has replaced Hotmail instant messenger and will be the only option available for MS users in March for those users that relied upon the hotmail instant messenger service. Google purchased Motorola phones and is putting all of its messaging and mail services access on the devices. Anyone that has a mobile phone now has access to instant messaging services. It is one of the most low cost and efficient methods of connecting with people.

    AIM? Blackberry Messenger? SMS? Camfrog?

You may find some answers here:

    The Eight Cell Phone Exile

How many mobile phones does it take to monitor a country from afar?

One for each of the fingers he has in all the pies . . . cheesy.gif

  4. If he ruled Thailand he would be back in Thailand.........is there anybody here who cannot follow this simple logic?.........Let us be clear about this Thaksin influences Thai politics from Dubai....nothing more.

Perhaps it is your logic that is in error.

As per the (modified) campaign slogan, "Thaksin thinks, Yingluck acts".

He is not influencing anything, he is telling people what to do from afar. You seriously think that Yingluck is making ANY decisions on her own????

  5. Culture Minister Sonthaya Kunplome from the Palang Chon Party is said to be unhappy with his current post. He reportedly met former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra over the New Year holiday to lobby for the tourism and sport seat.

Key Pheu Thai members and coalition partners also met Thaksin in London last week, sources said.

Anyone here still going to deny that Thaksin is running the Govt from afar? Or that Yingluck is running the Govt all by herself cos she's such a clever girl and such a great businesswoman?

  6. I'm afraid this doesn't make a great deal of sense. There is a kind of child like simplicity in some of the less analytical type of expatriate who cannot see beyond a cartoon level of colour politics. The support for the yellowshirts certainly at the initial stage benefited from those middle class elements who were genuinely outraged by Thaksin's overbearing behaviour and lack of moral scruples. However I don't think the majority of yellowshirts were particularly affronted by the airport incidents.I certainly have noticed that many yellowshirt/PAD sympathisers on this forum feel free to pick and choose which bits of the platform they reject or endorse.I'm not sure this is really possible in the way that being a little bit pregnant isn't possible. The fact is that the yellowshirts - admittedly some being just useful idiots albeit well meaning - were led by a particularly unsavoury type of leadership immersed in racism, criminality and reactionary politics.

Once again, you and others of your ilk seem to be of the opinion that if you are not a "red" supporter, you must then be a "yellow" supporter. Well, I'm not either as I've said many times. It is possible to be a (slightly) interested observer of things whilst not supporting either. I don't pick and choose anything, I see what's right or wrong on both sides of the fence and then form my own opinion. The "yellows" did some bad things, the "reds" seem to have done and continue to do worse in my mind.

At the end of the day, I know my thoughts and opinions won't have much effect on the way things are done here so I have very little to gain from supporting one side or the other. They are all as bad as each other it seems to me. I do hate hypocrisy however.

The fact is that the yellowshirts - admittedly some being just useful idiots albeit well meaning - were led by a particularly unsavoury type of leadership immersed in racism, criminality and reactionary politics.

Seriously? Do you guys not open your eyes and see the "real" world? Racism? Criminality? Reactionary Politics? Sounds more like a description of Thaksin and his Govt to me.

  7. He was reportedly caught in the crossfire between soldiers and armed protesters on Rama IV Road.

The bullet found in his body is suspected to have been fired from an M-16 assault rifle, but ballistics tests failed to match it with the rifles used by the 40 soldiers. Armed protesters were also using assault rifles with the same type of ammunition.

Come on you red supporters . . . how many of you are still going to insist that the protests were peaceful and that they were not armed?

    Come on red supporters . . . where's your dismissal of this latest case? . . . you've all gone very quiet . . . !

  8. How do you sue an organisation for charging you with something?

    Surely rather counter intuitive?

    Read it again . . .

The DSI intentionally investigated the case instead of submitting it to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, an action which is a breach of Articles 200 and 157 of the Criminal Code, he said, adding that the DSI officials also violated Article 309 of the Criminal Code for confining the two former politicians for questioning which lasted more than 10 hours.

    The DSI broke the law.

  9. The drama's continue . . . nice to see them biting back though. Complete waste of time

I don't know what the DSI thought they could achieve other than by doing the bidding of certain politicians to run 'interference' on behalf of the Government. It's pretty straight forward and did not even warrant commencement.

    1. in fact, only carried out their duty under the emergency decree

    2. Civil Court ruled twice that the Red Shirt rally was against the law and demonstrators carried arms

    Enough said.

Exactly what I said from the beginning . . . the whole thing is a joke and it's good to see them biting back a little now.

  10. Amazing what qualifies as viral news. A pompous loud mouth (likely drunk) gets hauled off by police after minor hit & run accident which reportedly he later took responsibility for.

That's is your best defensive shot ????? Nothing in the story suggests he was " hauled off" anywhere. More salient is the fact

he in essence told the police to piss off. " Responsibility" would have been a pay off to tamp down the bad publicity, from pressure

either by his rich family or Siam Commercial Bank. His actions at the scene have already spoken, flinging money around later changes nothing...

I suspect this guy is small potatoes compared to the Red Bull brat, will be curious to see if news comes out about

    his family background.

Read the news in the Bangkok Post ... the same person who reported all of this on Facebook stated he was hauled off by police but whatever makes you feel good to believe and gets those panties all in a bunch about what might have happened (but didn't) ,what could have happened (but didn't), and what might have happened (but you are clueless about) or what has or has not happened in the past in unrelated incidents. If it makes your boat float go right ahead and do like others and download those pictures onto your hard drive in case Thailand starts blocking Facebook to protect this man because ... well not really sure ... but pretty sure it will make you feel righteous and superior.

And does you taking the opposing view make you feel all righteous and superior also?
