]This remark is not constructive. The democrats and Yellow Shirts have repeatedly stated that Thailand is too immature to be a democracy. That of course is rubbish. Why? When the USA's constitution was written and adopted there were only nine states. Thailand's so called loyalists say that they prefer a succession of military dictatorships. Like some of your peers you seem to want Thailand to have an eternity of conflict and confusion. The current government appears to be analyzing the anomalies of the current constitution in order that Thailand can adopt a constitution that allows fair, secure and credible government. Whichever party is in power. For myself I would like to see a perpetual Constitution that is so sound it will never need more than occasional amendment as with the constitution of the USA. Add to that a Bill of Rights for the people underlining Thailand's commitment to human rights and Thai citizen will be safe from the malfeasance of the few.

Who's said that?

dam_n, we see things differently lol. No . . . they are attempting to remove a large proportion of the checks and balances that are needed to keep Govt in check so that big brother can come back and put his sticky little fingers in the public coffers again.

On this one I agree wholeheartedly, I'm just sure that this is not what the current Govt has in mind.

Which was the point of my joke (meant to support your previous post).
Ah, I took your post at face value, not sarcasm lol

There was and never has been any political interference with the stupid soap opera.
Channel 3 self censored the series as they said it was too violent.
So they say . . . I kind of think that the contents of the show so far and the ending of the show showing an assassination of the PM was a little too close to the bone with some of those in power and pressure was brought to bear.
They should have made it an 'attempted assassination' instead.
They happen all the time apparently so no one would be shocked.
Yeah, a certain ex-PM seems to have had a lot of those over the years (allegedly).

What's the problem? Another staff member might be willing to sell you a Big Mac (perhaps even at the correct price) and you can easily walk to another register or perhaps another McDonald's...after a couple different registers and/or restaurants you will certainly get your Big Mac.
Ha ha, true, but why should someone have to do that? It's their job to provide a service or product, refusing to do so or charging more than the advertised rate is just "wrong" and illegal.

Yingluck thinks it might be concern over the 2006 coup that is keeping people away.
Well, we all know she's an idiot anyway so I wouldn't concern myself too much over what she thinks or says. It's all just repeated from her big brother anyway.
Wrong there mate, i don't think she's an idiot. In fact it would not surprise me to learn that she is far more higher educated than you are, judging by your immature remarks.
Well, being educated doesn't automatically make one competent or capable of running a country or managing a crisis. And being a "clone" and a mouthpiece for her self-exiled brother endears her to me even less. And don't start on her achievements in business either prior to coming to power, she got what she got because of her brother, not because she was a superb businesswoman.
And if you want to get into an argument on education though, no problem . . . happy to stack up my academic achievements and credentials against hers.

I wonder how many foreigners are sticklers on the rules when it comes to bending or breaking rules that benefit them from buying alcohol at illegal times to buying counterfeit CD / DVDs to accessing blocked information on the net, working without a proper permit, driving without proper license, speaking about forbidden topics, not wearing a helmet, visa status.... But when it comes to some poor slobs trying to make some extra cash providing service people are willing to pay for they became very concerned with how rules are so important.
You're comparing apples to oranges (again) . . . we're talking about taxi drivers who refuse to take people when that is their job. If they are not making enough money doing what they do, then they all need to complain and get the base prices and mileage rates raised. It's a service industry, and THEIR JOB is to take people where they want to go to, not where it suits them or if it suits them and not above the legal fare.
As a stupid example (which you seem to like), it would be like walking in to McDonalds and asking for a Big Mac and being told no, we don't want to serve you, go to the next one. Or as an alternative, walking in and asking for a Big Mac and being told that although the sign states it costs 150 baht, you have to pay 300 baht.

Gotta love this never-failing blazing yellow propaganda on this forum. Never fails to amuse me, especially coming from clueless foreigners. Abhisit, Prem and the military brass appreciate your help.
Anti-red or anti-idiot doesn't automatically make one a yellow supporter or clueless. In fact, I would hazard a guess that most foreigners here are more clued in to the real politics that happen here than the majority of the Thai's are.
Besides all that, it makes a nice counterpoint to the blazing red propaganda so many spout out here
Do you have any sort of explanations to backup your claim? I find it disrespectful to 'hazard' such things.
And I don't know where you've been, but what you call red propaganda is quite scarce these days. Or maybe I'm just trying to recognize trolls on TV threads reporting articles of the ersatz of a newspaper that is The Nation
I don't need to back up anything, I made a statement based on my experiences here, it is neither backed up by facts nor anything else. Simply my opinion. As for where I've been, I've been here quite a long time actually, and the red propaganda is certainly NOT scarce, neither is the yellow.
And how is what I wrote disrespectful by the way?

Right. So reverting back to an illegitimate government stemming from a military junta responsible for endless coups is what you call democracy? I now understand your definition of democracy. You're the one being naïve (note how I avoid insulting others, unlike what you've done) if you don't realize the courts' political bias (have you seen the recent ruling of the Constitutional Court regarding article 112? If not here's a link: www.constitutionalcourt.or.th/office/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=105&Itemid=4〈=th )
@Disinto - have you changed your name again or started a new profile?

So create a big problem by giving everyone more money in the forms of wages, and then cost everyone even more with tons of other policies to mitigate the stupid idea in the first place. Great. Well planned and thought out.

This is the PAD's way for gaining support later on . . . with the "we told you so" or "we warned you" argument.

I've seen Japanese tourists coming out of the mall before and agreed to pay a Tuk Tuk driver 500 baht to go where a taxi would've cost them less than 100. I just have to bite my lip sometimes - but I do shake my head everytime I see farang in a tuk tuk because you just know they are getting ripped off.
Not necessarily getting ripped off . . . when I first came to Thailand, I remember going to the Grand Palace area, hiring a Tuk-Tuk for the whole day and getting taken around their "rip off" route visiting the jewellers, tailors etc along with the usual tourist sites. It was an "experience" that I asked for and was thoroughly enjoyable, highlighted by having lunch with the driver, his wife and young baby at her noodle stall. Well worth the 500 baht I paid him for the whole day, and that included our lunch.

Indeed. Where are all the mythical forum yellows?
According to some, I'm one of them . . . allegedly . . .
Me too.
Yeah I remember, but in your case, they'd be right (kidding)

They should settle it the honourable way - a game of football between the parliaments. Winner takes all
Pistols at dawn would be my preferred choice . . . except they tried that already in 2010 . . . got to keep your head down and keep moving or the snipers get you . . .

Look at the age of the driver, if under 40 (ish) ignore them and wait for an older driver.
In my experience it's the young drivers that are willing to run the meter while the old ones always refuse.
Exactly the opposite experience to my own lol

I have never had a problem getting a taxi in Bangkok in my years living here unless you consider sometimes having to wait 5 minutes or sometimes needing to walk up to the main road a problem. I think they are incredibly cheap and the vast majority of the drivers keep clean cars, are pleasant to deal with and take you on the quickest route to get you where you want to go.
dam_n, you've been lucky then!

TOP TIPS FOR MAKING A SUCCESSFUL STRESS-FREE TAXI JOURNEY IN THAILAND
- Ignore the taxis that are parked on the side of the road, just walk on by, they are waiting for the big ripoff fares.
- Look at the age of the driver, if under 40 (ish) ignore them and wait for an older driver.
That's pretty much it. Works like a charm all the time. Based on my experiences, older drivers tend to be more polite, much friendlier, and not in it to rip people off. They are the ones I give my big tips to at 3am, not the <deleted> that won't even open the doors for less than 500 baht.

Wow, big thumbs up to Kampanart Tansithabudhkun . . . finally a Thai that is not afraid to stand up, criticise the establishment and do what he feels is "right".
That depends on whether he wasn't doing too well with his show's viewer figures, had a personal conflict with his boss, has a new job lined up or wants to advertise himself for a new role.
I thought his comments went a bit beyond just leaving his role on principle.
But then again, I'm no psychologist!
Who knows . . . I just took my "cynical" hat off for a few minutes and took it all at face value

Oh, I'm sorry . . . should I go into a long rambling drivel about how badly I think she is doing her job instead? How I think that "her" policies are all aimed at bringing her thieving brother back in the fold? How I think that these proposed changes to the constitution benefit no one but herself and her family and all the associated cronies?
Any by the way, you're the pot calling the kettle black in this instance with your pathetic remark about my pathetic remark
