If you're going to applaud the execution of drug traffickers - would you hold peddlars of whisky etc to the same standard -given that alcohol abuse wreaks havoc on the roads and in families in cases of domestic violence and in the community in cases of random and premeditated violence ??. Or perhaps those whose superannuation and pension funds invest in companies that manufacture arms and weapons of war.....which often do untold damage to innocent civilians....Just wondering because the holier than thou mentality of some of the would be local lynch mobbers is pretty nauseating. Where do you draw the line?
get a life! there is no comparison between booze and narcotics! you are just a bleeding heart! best keep your ass out of malasia when using your drugs!
I don't use drugs so I don't have to worry about that. As for no comparison you're right there is for more violence caused through alcohol abuse. Ice by way is not a narcotic it's an amphetamine.

Nice name boris, seems to suit your apparent attitude.
The lines are quite clearly drawn already. Malaysia is very very clear on drugs wherever you enter the country their
immigration enrty form clearly states " the penalty for carrying drugs into or out of Malaysia is Death "
I am not aware of anywhere where they have capital punishment for selling alcohol, even in the middle east, but I am
open to correction by anyone.
Thanks for the obtuse dig at the name Boris , jock, not quite sure what connotations the name Boris has for you but I'm open to a renaming should you have any better suggestions, my mother has alzheimers so we won't get any argument from her. Look I agree with you about the laws in Malaysia - the guy is a fool -and in that sense he gets what is coming for trying to get away with a a crime that incurs the severest penalty. My point was more about the attitude of 'he deserves what he got because he's a bad guy' as opposed to well he knew the risk so tough luck. The cheer squad attitude is reminiscent of the witch hunt mentality of the middle ages.
People do go on about the evils of drugs etc and I've had decades of seeing people both enjoy and abuse different drugs some of them now dead and some now clean and alive and well and many still having a puff at the end of the work day. I agree that crystal meth does seriously mess with peoples lives but my point is that so does abuse of alcohol. Yet the liquor barons of the world never seem to attract the same criticism or vitriol, they just make huge profits off a substance that most of us enjoy , no problem with that at all... but some of us also find it takes over and destroys our lives and health or reduces it to a dependency that can be hard to kick. If you doubt that visit a few AA meetings and listen to the tales of misery there. Basically the tycoons have a 'get out of jail free' card which is fine but it seems hypocritical when people breathe fire and brimstone at drug dealers without acknowledging the parallels between them and the makers of hard liquor. Maybe I'm splitting hairs here but hey, it's a quiet night at home. Now I'm off for a beer

Apirak was set up. A TRT hatchet job. This reporter. seems a bit hazy on the facts - the fire truck deal was the work of two ministers in Thaksins govt and ex Governor Samak. Then Apirak came into office and didn't want to sign the purchase papers as he smelt a rat but was was instructed to by the Minster for the Interior, dirty Pokin Polakul, thus implicating himself in a scandal which he basically had nothing to do with. So he resigned to take responsibility for his part while Thaksins ministers brought down a popular governor and the guilty parties lived to fight and plunder another day.

""The BMA’s disaster prevention unit "" Isn't that an oxymoron ? Wherever and whenever it's possible to f#$k up you can be sure that Thai public officials/servants will f#$k up.

Since Cambodia and Thailand drive on different sides of the road, the bus is going to have wheel on the wrong side for part of the journey (probably the Camb segment) which is something of a safety issue....
Safety ? What's that ?

This piece of English crap is going to kill himself,,, which is ok with me as he is a low life looking for his dog, which brings a question,,, is the dog still alive??? the American that kicked his face in is not, so where is the dog,,,I'm an animal lover,,,,,,,,,, Better yet I have never been in that 7/11 and had knifes thrown at me???? it must be a British thing,,,,, the law between the Thais and the Brits is simple,,, you plead guilty to your crimes and get life if you waste the courts time then you get the death penalty,,,, I pray to god that this piece of garbidge gets life in a Thai prison,,,, the pitbull will be now known as the pumping chawawwara,,,, I hope Martin Carpenter the British council has a lot of vasalean for this garbidge from England he will need it
I gather you are not an admirer and do not believe his story. However it is for the court to decide if his 'cock & bull' story is believable. They will examine witnesses and also listen to his account. If he is found guilty then I would be in favour of the harshest possible penalty.
I am as appalled by this whole matter as the posters on this site, and for once can understand the harshness of many comments. BUT it has often been said on this forum that people are judged by the press and the Thai system before they have had a fair trial, and that that is not justice. Whatever the feelings it is hypercritical of posters to want 'fairness' in many cases outlined on this forum, yet happily condemn before trial in this case. Let the trial be held and give him his chance to put his case. If he is found guilty I will be amongst those on this forum who wish him the worst possible future.
I guess you must be an embarresed English man/women,,,, but I was there and saw what happened ,,,,did you????????????????????? Proberly NOT
Who do you think you are that you can tar every Englishman with the same brush?
Not just this piece of crap but you had to add English piece of crap.
Must be a Brit thing you say your just a great stirrer of sh*t.
Yes let the piece of sh*t rot but why be such a <deleted> about it.
My country England does have its fair share of idiots as do most countries.
I served in the military and I am proud of my country even if its not quite GREAT Britain anymore.
Whats your problem? Where are you from that is so great?

Chalerm if you do want these guys to turn themselves in you one huge obstacle is convincing them that they would be treated fairly while in custody. Sadly history suggests otherwise.

Swede Gets Death Penalty In Malaysia For Drugs
in World News

My point exactly.I've got a cop and two prison warders in my family who've helped shape my views. 'No different to a drunk getting behind the wheel and killing a whole family'. However while he is roundly condemned noone seems to apply the same 'moral' standards to those who sold the drunk his alcohol. Not arguing for or against prohibition although the laws on ganja could be changed as they criminalise a large group of decent law abiding citizens who pay their way in society but pointing to how standards of moral judgement aren't applied equally. That's all.
