A 2nd vote for "O'Delices" their pastries and breads make other Pattaya bakers look like like amatures and their selections of coffees is on point. Here's a link to their facebook page.

Bon Appetit.

Standing up? He folded to a waitress, to timid to call her over and ask for his rightful change. The notion that she wasn't available or appeared busy, is a joke. If by standing up for his principals you mean a keyboard warrior, then ok, he wins that one, myself I would have called her back and in the most polite way got my money back. Maybe the waitress learned many farangs are afraid to raise the question of "Where's my change?"

Kor ror 2 they have always accepted my original one.
A handful of years ago Jomtien Immigration told me to go get a newer Kor ror 2 to prove my marriage was still current, since that time I switched over to the retirement extension, less paperwork and hoops to jump through.

Yes, I know all that. I'm a structural steel fabricator. I doubt whether they could walk into where I live with bolt cutters or a grinder and not be noticed. Anyway, does anyone have an answer to the question?
If you want a heavy duty chain, forget those made in China shops or supermarket locks and go straight to a place that sells high quality construction equipment and not Home Pro, Home Works, etc, I consider them interior decorating stores. The REAL construction shops will have what you are looking for. In Pattaya there's a couple of good construction shops on Pattaya Nua between the bus station and Sukhumvit (same side as the bus station).

Many low salary Thais do not think beyond their immediate gratifications. Consequences be damn...if caught, they blamed it on their karma.
Ironically, I've had credit card theft while I was working in South Korea. Let's not pretend only Thais commit fraud.

I have never had to ask for my change in the many countries that I have worked in, lived in and travelled to/through, I don't think I should have to now.
Countries I have lived/worked/travelled through,
UK
Northern Ireland
Isle of Man
Austria
Belgium
France
Germany
Italy
Greece
The former Yugoslavia
Denmark
Holland
Spain
Portugal
Holland
USA - Hawaii, Colorado, New York, Arizona & Florida
And probably a load of others I can't think of, but hopefully you get the picture.
I too have traveled the world and visited and/or lived in many countries over the past decades, and while I don't remember the wait staff keeping any of my change, I surely would of spoken up and asked for it if it happened.

How hard is it to call the waitress over and ask "Where's my change?" Has common sense gone out the window?

I'm just wondering. Isn't it a human basic right to be allowed to have a job? Thai government is unspeakably racist towards foreigners. I hope there will be some changes in their attitudes in the future.
In the USA, a foreigner can't legally work unless on a work visa, is the US government racist in that matter?

Just a thought, anyone ever gone the opposite of being aggressive towards the dogs? I always see soi dogs in my area getting food dropped off by Thais and the dogs are never aggressive towards them, in fact they are all happy and tails are wagging. Maybe bring some leftover rice and food and offer it to the dogs, after a few days of this, they might be happy to see you approaching.

Those pythons are big and quick, I drove past one one night on Pattaya's dark side, by the time I turned my car around to go see it, it was off into the brush.

Most Soi dogs are all bark and no bite when it comes to adults, many joggers and walkers around my area seem to carry lightweight sticks.
If they are really aggressive get a Thai to help you file a complaint at the local Tessibann office.
Lazada sells dog repellent devices online;
Lastly you can make some homemade dog repellent and put it in a squirt gun and spray them if/when they get too close.

Several places to ask about learning Basic First Aid or CPR; the Thai Red Cross or local hospitals or even the local Amphur's Public Health and Safety section.

There are many nice and safe villages in East Pattaya...best to come and look in person...take your time to get to know the area...don't rush into anything...
I agree, I live in East Pattaya (aka The Dark Side/DS), The DS is a lot bigger and spread out than most people think, there's lots of clean, safe villages and stand alone houses to fit every budget. The DS is quite compared to the tourist section but it's still close enough to visit the many restaurants, shopping malls, supermarkets, etc.
As for The Viking Village Resort, I've never heard of it till now and I've been living on the DS for about 8 years, as mention above come and drive around and see in person at the many options available.

For those bashing the cop, maybe he saw the injury and was small enough to let the kid do his part to help others, let the kid gain confidence, get public praise for his part.
Back in the states I was a paramedic and seen many accidents, when they are small enough I'll let friends, bystanders, family contribute assistance with basic 1st aid.

Guys defending pattaya not busy may be realtors or bar owners. I think generally it has slowed but like anything there are a few top traders doing very good business but all the rest I believe are suffering. However the 711s and all you can eat seafood buffets are rapidly expanding with the chinese and indian tourists. The russians will keep the supermarkets busy. It's a changing dynamic and if you are looking for the same experience as 3, 5 or even 10 years ago it is long gone and it ain't coming back. Take it for what it is or what it isn't:)
I'm neither a realtor or a bar owner, all I'm saying is Pattaya is expanding, expansion means people aren't confined to the same small area as before (Beach Road/2nd Raod/3rd Road). Terminal 21 will draw people away from Central Festival/Royal Garden/Marina, etc. Harbor Mall will draw people away from Tuk Com. More and more places to eat and drink will draw people away for the same tired restaurants/bars. The LK Metro go go bars will draw people away from Walking Street. I live on the darkside and in just a dew years we had numerous 7/11s, Tesco Express' and Mini Big C shops open up, the small mom and pop shop near my house is suffering, survival of the fittest as work.

Why is it every tourist farang want's to declare Pattaya is either dead or soon to be dead? I've been living here for 12 years and the city keeps on growing. The town is growing by leaps and bounds every month. Sure it's not as compact as it used to be but that's only because the business' are more spread out.

Many years back I was opening a small business in Pattaya with my wife, as we were applying for the business license, the government lady processing out license paperwork held a "donation" box for what appeared to be for a orphanage and asked my wife for 1000 baht, my wife turned to me and translated the request, I quickly replied "we already donate to a orphanage", the Thai lady shot a look of disdain towards me, I just kept a blank poker face and sat there...555.

I bought a cheap Chinese sander a while back and used it occasionally for small jobs around the house, it broke down about a year later, if you only need it for a few times then ok, but if you want to use it for a bit longer speny the extra money.

Go to a Thai restaurant near your home that has big white 10 liter jugs of water and ask them if their water get delivered and if so you want to get your places added on to the deliver's route, it's very cheap and you can set up a schedule (one or two jugs a week).

"a taxi driver holds a responsible position in society"
555, It's a job that basically requires no training, any high school drop out that can drive is instantly qualified to become a taxi driver.

I doubt many land owner in the main customer areas of Pattaya are willing to sell their money maker.
Pattaya picks up forgotten trash
in Pattaya News
Posted
Many Thais litter, many years ago as I was in a taxi driving to the airport at the end of my holiday the Thai girl on my side opened the window and just threw out out a small bag of trash, when I asked her why she did that, she replied "It give poor people a chance to work". I was stunned,
On the darkside of Pattaya, there are so many unofficial trash drop off points on the side of the road, you'd think the Thais would do something about this.
