Camerata's Guide To The Permanent Residence Process
Good evening. Sorry, i tried the search button in the thread to get me to the information, as i think i read it here some years ago, but it is so many pages now xDD. My passport is expiring this year, then my question is, do i need to have any stamp transferred from my old passport to my new passport? I dont plan to travel out this year and my rentry one is expired already, but am not sure about the one that is put in the passport upon receiving the PR booklet. Do i need to go to an immigration office in Pattaya or Chaeng Wattana to have iit updated or is it not relevant and the Police book and PR should suffice when going to bank or something else with government? Any reply greatly appreciated. Thks Ant.

Where can I find an area with empty smooth roads in Pattaya?
if you can drive out to Sukhumvit to the area of Soi Yansangwaram (Wat Yaan temple complex) opposite the renaisance hotel (just before Baan Saray), there are very quiet roads to ride around the lake there. Some of the best roads i have seen with pavements for pedestrians, bicycle lane, and car lanes, loads of reflectors on the road and good lighting as i believe the king sometimes comes to this complex. It does have some dogs roaming around from time to time, but then again, they are everywhere. hope it helps

Dentist Recomentations Pattaya
if you have a car, i went to K and K Dental recently for a root canal treatment, crown, 3 fillings, 2 temp fillings and a a cleaning. All in all the 4 visits came to (Root canal 9000 TBH, Fillings 800 TBH per filling, Temp crown 1000 TBH, final crown 18000 TBH and cleaning 1000 TBH) so all in all 30 K. I found that very reasonable priced and the lady dentist had very soft hands making the treatment quite pleasant as far as dentist procedures go. The location was at the Jomtien exit to the left of Sukhumvit. (between sukhumvit and where the bypass paralel road ends at the train track) Very recommended. Have been to the German dentist on Thappraya road in the past, but found the actual dentist less skillfull. His assistant was helping him a lot. There is a german owner onsite who gives reference checks and the pricing and he is quite nice, but he does not do the treatments. The pricing there was quite a bit more expensive though for an crown. was an few years ago, but well over 30-35 K only for the crown placement and temp crown. (2 visits)

Bank account frozen
Did not try that, but i suppose that would have been ok. I had to get by passport and bankbook to unlock both both as i got tired calling 02-777 7777, which only had a long message on repeat. (after pressing english language, they had a repeating message that you have to get to the bank and that using any app on the phone required a telephone number that was linked to the account.

Bank account frozen
It is not only BBL that became more strict. WIth the new rules enforced now, i had to go 2 times already in one week to the SCB Branch to unfreeze, first time my banking APP on the phone and second time my ATM card and APP. First time, the APP freeze seem to have happened after receiving my new ATM card and just trying to unlock it by the app. Went to SCB branch where my account is from. The staff spend 20 minutes calling with whoever on the 02-777 7777 line to unlock my account and possibly check it with my Dtac number that is linked to it, and must be on the bank account holders name. 2nd time this morning after taking off 100,000 TBH to pay montly mortgage which is as UOB, as they give better, easier loans to foreigners then any other bank. Had to increase my limit from the 20 K to which my new ATM card was set, to 100 K to do that. Then after completing the withdrawals for 100 K at the ATM of the SCB branch where i have my account, i received an sms that my ATM card was blocked for suspecious withdrawals. Also my SCB app on the phone got blocked at the same time. Then had to go back to the bank again after opening hours, with bank book and passport to unlock everything. Even after it was the SCB branch staff calling, the still need to speak to me and double checked with more questions to confirm my indentity. After checking with the app once unlocked, there were only the atm withdrawals from the morning. ( i have been doing the same monthly withdrawal at this amount for some years now btw)

SSO
Thank you very much for the reply Brandon. With my PR i did get named into the blue book of our house, so that hole should be covered. It is not so much that i need it atm, but thinking along the road, where i might get kicked out of my personal health insurrance, once passing 65. You never know what happens in life, so good to have an back up option. Granted, there might be some bureaucratic issues along the way, but my company HR did somehow get me 800 TBH child support by SSO for our son so i should be in the system for that and hopefully also after retiring, if keep paying the 432 TBH montlly to stay covered until eligeble age. Camerata's Guide To The Permanent Residence Process
I asked the below before in the Pattaya forum, but only got one useful reply to part of the question, then thought i would ask it here, as for any PR holder the SSO subscription might have been part of the work permit application to get to PR. Whereas many readers on the normal info boards are pensioners on a visa, without ever having worked in Thailand. https://thaicitizenship.com/thai-social-security/ i read here, that it is possible to keep some kind of heath coverage and even some kind of small pension, if keep paying to SSO even after i would loose my job until i am 55. After the "topic, can you live on 40 K a month" when retired, i got worried and started thinking. Currently i do phave private health insurrance for me and my family, but they did bump it up by 30% and you never know what happens in the future, if it would still be affordable or if they would kick me out at 65 as i did have an pulmonary embolsim a few years ago. Then is there anyone who has made use of their SSO coverage for health care? was it ok? What hospital were you treated and was it survivable, or no AC available and outdated equipment? or very good value for the money and definetely something worth to keep just in case. In the Pattaya area, what SSO hospital would be recommended. And would anyone know if this pension mentioned is still paid out to foreigners? How much would it be? In the end, even small amounts are better then " a poke in they eye", especially once one no longer receives salary and with stock market uncertanties. Any info would be appreciated. Ant.

Thks for the reply, i do have PR, so i am on the blue book of our house. However, the yellow book requirement i think you can also get without owning a condo unless i am wrong. Well, yes that was my understanding also of it, but after reading that website article and Ralf's reply, (also on the "Can you live on the 40K " thread where someone said his private insurrance did not cover after accident, but he did get full cover by SSO, it got me peaked. Like i said, i am still below 50 and working, but there might be the time that the premiums of the private insurrance go to the roof or worse the insurrance throws you out after 65, so worth to keep the SSO. May i ask why you were shot down, as you state? if you paid for the SSO and keep paying the monthly 432 TBH after stopping work, you would be entitled right? Thank you Ant.

SSO
thank you for the fast reply, then definetely worth to keep it as a backup. That sounds like very good coverage actually for the 3 months you stayed. i stayed before at Bangkok Hospital in Pattaya for that pulmonary embolism and that costed 250 K for a 5 day stay (food was ok but bland xD). Just got worried if at an later stage in life the same would happen again, without health cover. No needed to pay any extra's for that 3 month hospital stay? )Besides the pizza's and burgers haha). As i believe the coverage of the SSO is only TBH 500,000 p.a.? or is it per incident? Those months in ICU must have been expensive. Also would you know anything about pension benefits? Might be little, but better then a poke in the eye xD Thank you Ant.

Is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card for a Permanent Resident Permit Holder?
Thank you Ralf and Upnotover, guess i have too. Seems that is not possible to fill in until before 3 days of traveling, and funny enough can not opt for Thailand as country of residence. Thks for the reply. i did not have my PR yet when i traveled due to the Covid and my family visiting me here after, but then will end up doing so.

Camerata's Guide To The Permanent Residence Process
Good evening. Would anyone know if the new Thailand Digital Arrival Card is required to be filled in by PR holders? I am flying overseas over Songkran for the first time since getting my PR and will come back in the first week of May and would like to avoid any hassles. Unfortunately on the immigration website i did not see any information regarding this. Any advice would be appreciated. Ant.

Is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card for a Permanent Resident Permit Holder?
Good evening. I will be flying over Songkran to see my family in Europe and will be coming back to Thailand on the3rd of May when this new requirement comes active. There would like to know if anyone has seen somewhere, if Permanent Resident Permit holders are required to fill this form in or not, as i can not find any information on it on the immigration website. Any reply would be appreciated. Ant.

Any one doing the OMAD diet ( One Meal a Day )
i have lost since the first of January 15 Kg, so a little less then 3 months. What worked for me very well is eating 4-5 boiled of Eggs and a greek yogurt for lunch in the beginning to ease into Keto and later into OMAD. I started off with walking, but upped to 4 K at a slow pace in the morning and some Basic heavy weightlifting 3 times per week (Incline bench press, deadlifts, squats, military press and bent over rows for 30 min) Now nearly 3 months in, i am not hungry anymore at lunch time and eat my boiled eggs with my caesar salad in the evening. ( i did have some cheat meals once or twice a week with spare ribs, pizza, steak etc) and it felt pretty effortless like you. For me the eggs really stuffed me in the beginning. I guess the same as ozempic would work.

What Thai dishes are the lowest calories?
I guess the reason to have low calorie dishes is too loose weight? but maybe think next to low calories also about satieting food. From the 1st of January until now i have made lunch consistently out of 5 hard boiled eggs, 14 Cherry tomatoes to eat together with the eggs for taste, a greek yogurt, and a dragon fruit or small 150 kcl pack of Almonds. This will get you to around 550-600 kcl and it keeps my stomach filled so much i have to nearly force my self to eat dinner. I dropped from 123.5 KG to 114.7 KG this morning, so roughly 6 weeks. ( i do walk over 6000 steps a day and incorperated 3 times a week of 5 Compound weightlifting exercises) I did stop alcohol mostly, but have had days of a bottle of wine with a 200 lbs sirloin steak and pizza from the pizza company because my son wanted it, but because of my lunch could not eat more then 2-3 slices in the evening for a few days. Anyway, seems like the eggs work to me like an extremely cheap dose of ozempic filled with complete amino acids for good protein nutrition. For the Thai dishes, obviously the pad phak ruam (fried mixed vegetables are probably lowest on calories depending on oil usage) but grilled chicken and prawns would be better from protein and filling perspective making you eat less because your are less hungry. Weight loss meds
I was thinking before of getting ozempic pills of similar, but what i read about them, is that is mostly just takes away the appetite. I found i can do the same with eggs xD. As my new year resolve i decided to become a bit more healthy again, so for January i did not drink any alcohol, started walking daily, 3 times a week 30 min weight lifting and doing some running on on my day off. Also i started to make my lunch with just eating boiled eggs (5 for lunch with 14 cherry tomatoes, 20 almonds and a greek yogurt or dragon fruit) this has been strangely very satieting (for about 550 calories) and making me not hungry until dinner. (there i eat something like a sweet potato, carrot, onion boiled with a chicken breast from 7/11 and maybe and egg or 2 more soft boiled) i really have to make an effort to get to 1800 calories my samsung app says i should eat. I find this much easier to sustain then dong intermittent fasting or other ways of fasting due to the satiety of the eggs. Added benefit of eggs is that they are cheap, full of all the amino acids to retain or built muscle. The stuff about cholestrol is outdated as your own body makes it and compensates by the way. Just doing this has made me lost weight from the first of January 122.9 Kg to this morning 115 Kg feeling full all the time. (so roughly i lost 7 kg in 42 days. (all my weighing measurements are at the same time after stool.) Just some food (Eggs, Eggs, Eggs xD) for thought

Thai court rules traffic fines unlawful since 2020
to be honest a maximum speeding ticket of TBH 1,000 or the same for running a red light is a joke. That should be increased for road safety imo.

Camerata's Guide To The Permanent Residence Process
Thank you for the reply Scorecard. Yes, i received my blue PR book, Red police book and am written into the blue tabiaan baan of our house, so am all good for that xD. My question is for when i want to travel overseas and want to retain my PR (obviously after all the pain getting it xD), if i can do the required paperwork for this at Pattaya immigration or if this can only be done in Bangkok? I did not travel since receiving my PR a few years ago and would like to save myself a few hours of traveling xD. for the record TM 13 as per the immigration link is the application for endorsement of re-entry permit as SS below which, not the application for permament residence in the kingdom (TM 9), which i think you are referring too. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/downloads_en/ Thank you for the reply. Ant.
