  1. Ok. Great. Didn't want to to register and they then say "oh, you've registered now so you will have to complete theory and practical" etc etc. You know what its like. Thanks again!
  2. Thanks mate. Thats what I was hoping. I only have CBT when it comes to bikes but raced MX for years as a kid. I just said any motorcycle when she asked. Big bike time! ????
  3. Thanks. Funds are currently in an ISA (tax free wrapper for non Brits) and tax was paid on earnings before deposited obviously. Just I read somewhere about having to wait until following tax year to not pay tax but I guess thats just on earnings from UK for example if you were working. I no longer have any income and will be living here on Thai marriage visa.
  4. Looking into this a bit more I am not sure why she has referred me to the dlt-elearning site to complete tests online when I have just read that I dont need to do theory or practical tests. Just the reaction, peripheral vision etc. Surely these will all be done in person. Dont want to register if its for the theory test in case they say I will just have to spend the 5 hours doing that now as I was misinformed. Anyone clarify what exactly the dlt-elearning.com website tests are for? Cheers.
  5. Thanks but I am not transferring to UK account as stated already.
  6. Thanks. Do you have a link to anything official to back that up?
  7. Will have to do that. Who's good (contractor wise - National)?
  8. Will I be taxed on savings that I transfer from a UK account into a Thai account? I really think I need to seek some professional advice in this area. Can anyone recommend any firms here in Thailand or offer advice via DM for anyone with experience? Since Ive left the UK my UK bank has been pestering me to sign a CRS & FATCA also for HMRC. Thailand aren't even part of that from what I gather so dont see why they're asking me. Just want to make sure Im doing things right and staying within the law.
  9. Also, Ive been told the online test is a bit of a joke. Is there anything I need to do or should know before registering and doing it? Can you fail, if so what happens then? Been driving for over 25 years and have picked up some habits Im sure but cant be any worse than what I see on the roads here on a daily basis, surely.
  10. Went to swap my UK license yesterday for a Thai one. They were closing within a few hours so told me to do the test online instead, which I will. The thing was she was asking me about what bikes I could ride as she didn't understand the category classes at first. It would then seem I may need two licenses - one for car and one for bike. I asked if there was anyway I could just have it all on the one instead of carrying two licenses around with me everywhere but she didn't seem to understand me at all. Does anyone know if this will be possible? Cheers.
  11. This is great. Were looking to get off grid ourselves and I had no idea where to start. I seen a place selling PVCs at our local market but they seemed to be for water pumps when I was trying to ask about powering the home etc in my broken Thai. Anyone aware of a one stop shop online for purchasing said supplies and more importantly getting advice about whats right? We have every known device to man eating up power and AC is pretty much on most of the time so bills are big. Complete noob! TIA
