  1. Give you a example in Pattaya: i sold my BMW 318 a couple years ago. New owner fitted the car with BBS alloy wheel (Copy) and ne wheel screws (Tose BM's don't use wheel nuts) Later on the afternoon i received a phonecall from the new owner. All screws an d the rearside was broken in half when he droves to Rayong. One wheel came off. No accident, he could mange to stop the car on the side of the road. I couln'd help him, it wasn't my fault, so i told him to go and see a local tireshop to replace the bolts and drive back to Pattaya and i would go with him to check it, when he back. He was agree. After one hour he called me again and told me the wheels are back on the car, but he couldn't start the car anymore. So i couldn't understand what's the problem. So i drove my other car to Rayong, and found the BMW on the roadside, directly to a policebox and even two cops arround the car. After a couple minutes i found out the fuelpump don't work anymore. I had already a rought idea, what happen. So i asked the mecanic who changed the bolts, where did he jacked the car up. And he schowed me where, rear rightside under the tank. The thank was dented in. So he din't know what i was thinking. I removed the rear seat of the BM and open the cover to the fuel pump an saw the fuelpump was destroyd, because the mechanic jacked the car on the wrong place. Of corse he denied that he damaged the fuel pump and the two cops laught at me and told me, that this mecanic only fix old Pick up Trucks and don't have any expirience with BMW. This was all, 3'000 Baht for towing car back to Pattaya, 6'500 Baht for a new fuelpump, dent the tank out and another couple hundert for labour, almost 10k damaged by a stupid mecanic. TIT, of corse mecanic don't pay, and don't have any money.

Anyway be careful whit local wheels bolts and screws. But another thing, if you buy import, it will be made in China. That's the maby the worster Hollywoood scenario with all the side effects, what could happen

  2. ALL FARANGS PLEASE READ!!

I'm an American who has read and heard about the Thai girls and to not buy anything unless consulting a lawyer and wait a while first, like a year or more. Well I took a girl out of the bar and out of a rat infested box near Din Daeng and built a Big house in Wangnoi (near Ayuthaya) and now we are divorced and she and her family are claiming that I did not pay for anything and that it belongs to them. To make matters worse, she got pregnant with a Thai guys baby and said it was mine.

I would ask for input in how to get the land and house back and would like to bulldoze/ destroy this house and would like to get the media involved as well as sponsors to help me to destroy this place as money is not an issue but I would like to make an example that we can all share of BAD Thai women that take advantage of us Farang. :o

You are, or was married, according the law you whould get half of everything she owns. She has to approve where she got the money from to buy or build the house. Take a good lawyer, i shouldn't be a big deal. I had the simular scenario, but i wasn't married, that was my problem.

  3. It looks great to me and i don't think they use any Citroen parts in it anymore in this car. Just the body, it looks great, but i prefer it "FLAT BLACK" like a "Soul Taker" and heavy steel bumbers, that would be nice. It looks much better than all the new boring plastic cars wich crack easly in the smallest accident. I had a 66 Falcon in the same style and i allways miss that car. It was the best i ever had. Can go everywhere and park it everywhere without worries.

  4. Toyota Corona, year 1988, old but strong and in excellent shape. Simple car with no "electronic troubles". Everything original, no rust, no tints, no noisy suspension, everything is fine. Car runs smooth and AC is cold. Price 99'000 Baht (no offers). Please call 081 902 64 00 or 08 115 66 880

  5. A similar incident happened when chinese workers were suffocted trying to enter England. However, rather than arrest the perpetrators or the survivors the English sent a police group over to China to investigate and the families of the chinese dead wanted compensation from the English tax-payer. I wonder if the Thai government will travel to Burma to investigate and I wonder if the Burmese families will ask the Thai government for compernsation ? Of course not ! Its one-way traffic EVERY time. Its ok for this to happen in Thailand but when it happens in England then its an English problem and the English are racist for demanding visas to enter their country. Actually, its all a load of crap ! We are sympathesing with the Burmese but the Thais are NOT, They dont want them !

In my oppinion, with the chineses it's allways about the money, it looks to me, they dont care about life, they just counting the money of the labours who died wich can't flow to china every month now. Why english tax payers have to pay compensation? Think it opposite way. Would chinese coverment pay any money for the same matter for english families?

  6. We made all the same mistake. Should never consider to living in a country where you don't get citizenship. I stay here for 14 years and still have the same problem. Now i planning to move with my wife to Uruguay. I think it's almost the best place for living can buy property in your name for low prices, living costs are cheap, nice beaches, buildings architecure are nice overthere (not everywhere the same d... shophouses without parkingspaces) and still can get citizenship for resident foreigners. The only problem: cars are 3 times more expensive overthere than in Thailand. But who cares. Because cars are so expensive, they fix every car again and again. you still can find cars from the 20ties on the road. Punta del este is the place to go.

  7. get a toyota.

Toyota, Honda it's all the same. I understand that this is a sad story and i wouln't be happy either if it's happen to me. But the Honda Company do their job correct. They give a warranty of a couple years and they repair the car for free. They don't have to give you any money back or change the car for you. If they offer you the money back than it's goodwill, but they don't have to do this.

I had a 2 year old camry once and the rear electric window didn't work anymore. Toyota din't accept any warranty claims, they said, the window was used to much and therefore the plastic parts where the window is fitted was broken.

BTW, be careful if you want to go puplic or if you write stories in News papers, or media. Again this isn't America. They can suing you for lost busoness if they want. Usally they don't do, but they can. I got my own expirience. The clock in Thailand works different ways

  8. the Fortuner appears to be getting more than its fair share of bad press just lately. Mobi has had a life threatening experience due to failures, previous reports out of phuket described what appeared to be brake failure and another report suggested that the spare wheel would not fit one or other of the wheels if so required.

If I were Mobi, I would get this damaged vehicle towed to the nearest Toyota agent and dump it on their front step, taking media persons with it of course. remember the lady in BKK who smashed her windshield in front of the media as she could get no satisfaction from the manufacturer ( I think again this was Toyota). After that incident Toyota bent over backwards to replace her car.

You should be careful when you go puplic. This isn't America. I have my own expirience. They can suing you for "business damage" if they want. Usally they don't do, but they can! Contact a lawyer first.

  9. It's depend where you living, and how much you'll like to spend, go shop arround. If you like Toyota or Isuzu, you'll pay top prices, maybe better to consider on a new one. If you buy Ford, Mazda, Mitsu or Nissan, you'll find them in the lower price range. That's all i guess, there is not much choice in Thailand. Basicly it doesn't matter what you buy, It's all the same, 4 cylinder diesel! So why not go for a Chevrolet or Ford and save some money. BTW Chevrolet is Isuzu (same car different face), same technology, Chevy just looks better and is cheaper in the used car market

If you consider on a new one, i have a frend in BKK who exports New Pick Up Trucks to South Africa. So he have his own stock and very good conditions. I can give you his Phone Number if you want.

    Good luck.

  10. You didn't explain how many parts they painted. Did the spoiler skirt had cracks? Did they replaced the skirt? If yeas did they really replaced or just repaired? Did they poliesterered? IMPORTANT: Usally you don't go tho a dealership for paintwork. You go to a Paintshop. Manytimes the dealer not do the job by himself, they give the car to a paintshop too and just add some extra money for them. Be smart next time!

By the way: Consumer rights in Thailand? We aren't in America. Forget it!, they called you for the extra 3'000. Basicly they should wait with finishing the Job until you agree to pay extra 3'000 Baht. Wenn everything is done, it's to late to complain.

  11. This is correct!!! anytime if a vehicle get registered to another owner, they charge some tax, wich is not much anyway. But for example: you can't say you bought a Grand Jeep Cherokee for 50k. They charge their procentage (i'm not sure hum many %) on a value, let's say 400k. If the car is older sometimes they charge not much, let's say a Old timer or a Classic car, you can say you bought for 100k and maybe they accept, because the car is very old. Anyway this is true, they have every car listed about his value. But anyway we not talk about big bucks.

  12. Fiat Punto SX, year 1997, good and economical car, 5 speed, manual, power windows, power locks, Pioneer CD, alloy wheels, Car just serviced at Fiat / Alfa Romeo in Bangkok. Car located in Pattaya. Price 155'000 Baht. Please call: 081 902 64 00 (Khun Gred) or PM me.

  13. It's not only engine power. BMW has much better suspension as a Japanese car. I had a 97 525 and it drives at 220 km/h like a go cart, very stiff, you can feel the road. BM's are developed for safety on High speed at German Autobahn. Japanese don't have this knowledge.

Another question: Did you ever see a Formula 1 Car with front wheel drive???

  14. Pesonally i'm for petrol engines, but the 2.7 liter of the Fortuner is much underpowered, but smoother (no rattles lika a tractor) they should make a 6 cylinder instead of a 4 cylinder and everything would be fine. If you want to buy a automatic, buy the diesel, if you want manual gear you have "just enought power" with the 2.7 liter petrol, wich you can convert to LMG anytime.

  15. I'm not spezialised in Benz, I'm only specialized with US Cars, but check, if the car still have a machanical kick down cable. If so release the adjustment screw to louse it a little bit on the top end. The modulator if it have one should be on the end and lower part of the automatic transmission. There should be a adjustment screw and a spring inside. Make sure that the spring is not broken, but as i sayd, i'm not familiar with benz ATM's
